how to use font-size?
Darren
@DarrenfJ
Nov 14 2017 07:08
@jinlianyushoushou in what instance? can you give an example?
you using it for the fCC challenges? or just in general?
if in general: you can use px for pixels and pick a size... changes how big your font for that element is
this is a good visual example of what the different sizes look like: http://lawrence.ecorp.net/inet/samples/abs-fonts.shtml
and then finally, there's some 'default' sizes for things like h1's and h2 etc and you can size based off those default sizes using em

I get the message "Looks like you have not completed the neccessary steps. Please return to the challenge map." when I try to claim the certificate. I double (triple) checked my map to see if I missed something, but it seems all the mandatory items have been completed and there is no mention of what is missing.

@DarrenfJ - Hey - how are you doing? Thanks for posting that CSS November challenge... they start off with killer stuff! I spent way too long on it. Which is the story of my learning process... always going after something new. (Even though CSS is definitely on my list of things to improve upon.)

@desordi3 if eloquent javascript isn't working for you, try reading YDKJS if you don't quite get
the wording try putting the examples in codepen.io and use Chrome devtools to step through the examples, perhaps that will help :shipit: :sparkles:

if you show what you learned, you reinforce your learning, and perhaps help others along the way, good luck with sharing your experience and growing your channel
perhaps do a review of completed project
tricky things to overcome, things you learned
i'm sure future fcc students will search for tips and perhaps your channel will be an additional resource for them

No my channel haves nothing to do with coding lmao @GitHub-Henry it is like a channel that helps people that might not have had a father figure in their life so like how to shave properly , budget with spread sheet and possibly pivot tables and I am going to teach like how to change your oil, tire and other life's important skills like cooking simple dinner :)

Guys, I wanna ask a question
How do I play in a serial way that they wait for eachother in javascript (trying to do the simon challenge)
Albert Cardona II
@daddycardona
Nov 14 2017 22:31
@newnewb I am not there yet but what you mean in a serial way?
Hammad
@newnewb
Nov 14 2017 22:37

lets say, i have an array[1,2,1,2].

If i for loop it to play the sound with like... sounds[1].play(); sound[2].play(); sounds[1].play(); sound[2].play();

all 4 sounds will play in the same time... almost like they're parallel. what i want is sound1 wait to finish sound 2
Albert Cardona II
@daddycardona
Nov 14 2017 22:39
I think you can use something call wait() method let me double check I know that is in lua scripting but I am not sure if it is in javascript
setInterval(myTimer, 3000);
something like that
or setTimeout

do you want to make the sounds play then I connect them
then you want the pattern to be played afterwards i mean
Hammad

Nov 14 2017 22:51
there is a function that runs when the page loads, that is supposed to play (x) random sounds, all the random sounds are playing in the exact same second

setTimeout( something, 1000);
setTimeout( something, 1000);
setTimeout( something, 1000);
setTimeout( something, 1000);
will do something ALL after 1 sec
soo u hear all sounds at same time
u should do...
setTimeout( something, 1000);
setTimeout( something, 2000);
setTimeout( something, 3000);
setTimeout( something, 4000);
Albert Cardona II
@daddycardona
Nov 14 2017 23:06
i think it is in your play pattern function as well @newnewb
Hammad
@newnewb
Nov 14 2017 23:08

@moigithub
Nov 14 2017 23:09
click save button on codepen ?
Albert Cardona II
@daddycardona
Nov 14 2017 23:09
actually it is because like @moigithub said you have all of them playing at the same time with one setTimeout etc.. if you put 1 you will have one sound
Hammad
@newnewb
Nov 14 2017 23:10
@daddycardona I thought about that but still, it's not waiting..i maybe i'm using the wrong function
Albert Cardona II
@daddycardona
Nov 14 2017 23:11
you have all your sounds playing at once so it is setTimeInterval or setTimeOut
Hammad
@newnewb
Nov 14 2017 23:11
I've gone to the point where I want to make a semaphore and add a release on the end of each sound play... but I think there should be a simpler solution
Moisés Man
@moigithub
Nov 14 2017 23:13
setTimeout requires a function.. soo it calls it (itself) after xx interval
setTimeout(function(){
  playSound()
} , 1000);
Hammad
@newnewb
Nov 14 2017 23:16
@moigithub okay, i'll try running an anon function rather than defining the function outside
Albert Cardona II
@daddycardona
Nov 14 2017 23:17
@moigithub where would he put that then?
in his generator ?
@daddycardona
setTimeout( playSound(....) , 1000);
//vs
setTimeout( ()=> playSound(....) , 1000);   // << passing a function to setTimeout
Hammad
