I didn't know this and if I ever did I forgot LOL I really have not used it in a while and some of these conditional statements with colors etc... are newer and when it came out I learned it. But since I have not been in the military for a while I had no real need for it. Also that Vlookup worked so well but when I was in I found someone who made a macro for that instead of having to do it that way. I don't know where he is lol so that is why I never really used vlookup but learned it and forgot it. Pivot tables however are the bomb especially for what I was doing in Marines. ;)

@daddycardona You prob know this - I'm only a couple mins into the video - but here's a tip: You can double click the cross to copy paste the pattern down the col instead of dragging. It'll go down till it runs out of consecutive rows

so Thanks again @kbaig

Hey all, I'm building the twitchTv project. I'm having difficulty geting the "steams" call to work on an account that is actually live streaming. ...Is the "wind-bow.glitch.me" work around from freeCodeCamp still working?

This works:
https://wind-bow.glitch.me/twitch-api/users/Esl_sc2

But this returns "null" when it should give a description:
https://wind-bow.glitch.me/twitch-api/streams/30220059

^ Please disregard :) the api uses the name not the id

THanks Ken. Any clues on Opacity? I have a background, I want an opaque box overlay, then I want to put the weather and the C/F button in boxes on top of the transparent box. The weather and C/F are opaque as well.
Ken Haduch
@khaduch
Nov 23 2017 17:56
@MWBauer - I posted something yesterday, I think? Take off the opacity: 0.1 that you had, and use the background-color: rgba(256, 0, 0, 0.1); the 4th parameter is the opacity setting. If you tried that, then I guess I need to see your code, but I'm going to be hitting the road for now. But using opacity as you had it yesterday made everything transparent. Use that setting on the opaque box overlay.

afternoon fCC
just popping in to say hi
gishy1
@gishy1
Nov 23 2017 20:10
hello world Im noticing that when the count+=size is before the while loop you get an infinite loop and when it is placed inside the loop its ok
also if i declare a variable inside the loop after the array push it does not recognise the variable
newArray.push(arr.slice(count,end));
var end=count+size;
this is what I mean :point_up:
Darren
@DarrenfJ
Nov 23 2017 20:25
@gishy1 what does your while statement say? keep going until what?
gishy1
@gishy1
Nov 23 2017 20:32
@DarrenfJ let me post the whole thing here
function chunkArrayInGroups(arr, size) {

  var newArray=[];
var count=0;
  var end=count+size;

while(count<arr.length){
newArray.push(arr.slice(count,end));

}
return newArray;

}

chunkArrayInGroups([0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5], 2);
does the end keep resting to 0
sorry to 2
because its giving me an infinite loop
Kyle Holm
@thekholm80
Nov 23 2017 20:38
@gishy1 your loop will run as long as count<arr.length, when are you changing the value of count?
gishy1
@gishy1
Nov 23 2017 20:39

Nov 23 2017 21:58
but was gonna say your While statement has some conditional that will decide when it ends.. I did mine as a for loop... for i = 0 i < arr.length i++size or something like that.. so the while statement has to end when arr.length is hit from some value.. in this case it's the last part of this newArray.push(arr.slice(count,thisThing));
but thisThing needs to start at size and move up by size each run through the loop. grabbing size numbers of slices and pushing them into the array...
so this is good var end=count+size; if end adds by size each time through.. and count (which is the start of the slice) needs to also go up by size each time... (i.e. start at the end of the last slice)..
if that makes any sense...
good hunting!

hello everybody i'm learning js and so i found a codepen but i don't understand t the first lines

Which lines @aita-kane ? First 2 are declaring and initializing variables
Aita Kane
@aita-kane
Nov 23 2017 22:55

@coymeetsworld

function nextSlide(){
if (!inTransition){
inTransition = true;

does !intransition mean the opposite of the declared variable?

Coy Sanders
@coymeetsworld
Nov 23 2017 23:15
Yes
well not opposite, it’s saying if the value inTransition is falsy
Aita Kane
@aita-kane
Nov 23 2017 23:23
@coymeetsworld so how does it know the value inTransition is falsy when we click?
Coy Sanders
@coymeetsworld
Nov 23 2017 23:24
the code looks at the value of the variable @aita-kane, then evaluates whether or not its truthy or falsy. If it's falsy then the block inside the if statement will run
