@pocahontas123 hi, we can give it our best shot
pocahontas123
@pocahontas123
Jan 23 2018 14:54
@thekholm80 Hi, well i'm using flex on containers
But now, the text inside is inline for every thing
Everything stay on the same line
Kyle Holm
@thekholm80
Jan 23 2018 14:54
can you share your project?
pocahontas123
@pocahontas123
Jan 23 2018 14:55
yes but i have to codepen it
I'm using "grid" for the general containers and Flex for the others
Kyle Holm
@thekholm80
Jan 23 2018 14:58
that's really strange
pocahontas123
@pocahontas123
Jan 23 2018 14:59
What is causing it is :
display: flex;
justify-content: center;
align-items: center;
font-size: 2em;
color: #ffeead;
Kyle Holm
@thekholm80
Jan 23 2018 15:02
i'm not sure what's going on there. hopefully someone with more css experience will come along soon
pocahontas123
@pocahontas123
Jan 23 2018 15:03
yep
Kyle Holm
@thekholm80
Jan 23 2018 15:03
oh, duh
add flex-direction: column;
then your elements will stack inside the flex container
pocahontas123
@pocahontas123
Jan 23 2018 15:11
where i have to add this ?
Kyle Holm
@thekholm80
Jan 23 2018 15:11
with
display: flex;
flex-direction: column;
justify-content: center;
....
pocahontas123
@pocahontas123
Jan 23 2018 15:13
.header, .menu, .about, .projects, .contact {
    display: flex;
    flex-direction: column;
    justify-content: center;
    align-items: center;
    font-size: 2em;
    color: #ffeead;
}
Kyle Holm
@thekholm80
Jan 23 2018 15:14
that should do it
pocahontas123
@pocahontas123
Jan 23 2018 15:14
ok
It work for some but the "project" part is not good
I have the "title"[image] [image]...
on the same line
Kyle Holm
@thekholm80
Jan 23 2018 15:17
i'm not sure what you mean
Kyle Holm
@thekholm80
Jan 23 2018 15:21

@pocahontas123 looks like

.projects {
    display: grid;
    grid-gap: 10px;
    grid-template-columns: repeat(auto-fit, minmax(100px, 1fr));
    grid-auto-rows: 150px;
}

is overriding the flex

pocahontas123
@pocahontas123
Jan 23 2018 15:23
yes i found it too
so i disabled here .header, .menu, .about, .contact {
.header, .menu, .about, .contact {

    flex-direction: column;
    justify-content: center;
    align-items: center;

}
            <div class="projects">

Hi, could some one help me with a css question ?

My codepen:

And would like two things:
-make my text from my link don't break outside where it is supposed to be
-have it look like this:
https://www.noelshack.com/2018-04-2-1516723748-uploade.png
But i don't know how to make the text from my link in two lines...

but if that's a good excuse for you to start using linux go ahead ^^

using freeCodeCamp notation you would need 5/5 correctness to clear the challenge (you don't clear it if you don't handle all the specified cases) and for style they have a guide that tells you what to edit, so as long as you have working code, have perfect marks is not an issue

and you'll have to run update50 in the ide itself too

formatting above code:
function palindrome() {
    str = str.replace(/[^0-9a-z]/gi, "");
    str = str.toLowerCase();
    if (str.length / 2 == 0) {
        for (i = 0; i <= str.length / 2; i++) {
            if (str[i] == str[str.length - 1 - i]) {
                return true;
            } else {
                return false;
            }
        }
    } else {
        for (i = 0; i < str.length / 2; i++) {
            if (str[i] == str[str.length - 1 - i]) {
                return true;
            } else {

@happysoccerboy

for (i = 0; i <= str.length / 2; i++) {
            if (str[i] == str[str.length - 1 - i]) {
                return true;
            } else {
                return false;
            }
        }

only checks the first and last letter of the string, its not checking all of it therefore returning true.

Since in almostomla the first and last letter are same, you get true even though its not a palindrome

@happysoccerboy

Hi guys, I have a tricky question, I followed on Udemy Colt Steele's course about Web development (Javascript, NodeJs, Heroku, Express...), I learn a lot, but I don't know which one of these courses I should learn next, can you help me to pick one to not go in all directions before mastering the essentials ?
https://www.udemy.com/git-a-web-developer-job-mastering-the-modern-workflow/
https://www.udemy.com/react-2nd-edition/ or https://www.udemy.com/react-redux/
https://www.udemy.com/the-complete-nodejs-developer-course-2/
Or if you know another, i'm interested ! Thanks
Aditya

@happysoccerboy You only need the 2nd condition so no need of if statement to solve, you can use continue to check all the other letters and then return true if the for loop has passed like this

        for (i = 0; i < str.length / 2; i++) {
            if (str[i] == str[str.length - 1 - i]) {
                continue;
            } else {
                return false;
            }
        }
      return true;
This should work

@happysoccerboy A pointer, lookup reverse() method, it'll make your solution smaller.

@NatixDev I have three of those courses (not the first one) I would suggest the react-2nd-edition one (it leans towards front end)

@ezioda004, yep, do a reverse to compare, code would be much smaller; thanks again

@sjames1958gm Thank you for the reply, someone suggested me the first link to know how to deploy perfectly my workflow before trying to go forward with many frameworks

@NatixDev I like Andrew's style, he is very thorough.
That first one seems good, but maybe better when you are closer to having a job as a dev? I would think a lot of that would not sink in unless it was being used in a practical fashion.

@sjames1958gm I think I need courage haha ! It's pretty hard to find my place in development as a self-taught, so much informations to store...
