@ezioda004
Feb 17 2018 15:28 UTC
@gishy1 Its because you're also converting the values you're not suppose to, why not restrict to which character gets converted to ASCII and so forth then you wont have to do replace(/-/g,' ').replace(';','.').replace(); this
Stephen James
@sjames1958gm
Feb 17 2018 15:34 UTC
@gishy1
Test inside your loop for A-M or N-Z, you can use regex and only change the character in those cases
Aditya
@ezioda004
Feb 17 2018 15:36 UTC
@sjames1958gm But why use regex if you can restrict to only convert if the char is in b/w certain number, the other characters can just be passed on like they were
Stephen James
@sjames1958gm
Feb 17 2018 15:37 UTC
@ezioda004 Because he already is using a regex.
@ezioda004 I guess I left out "if you want to"
Aditya
@ezioda004
Feb 17 2018 15:40 UTC
@sjames1958gm Yeah but if you have to do replace(/-/g,' ').replace(';','.').replace(); then I think the logic is flawed, his other part of the code works fine though
Stephen James
@sjames1958gm
Feb 17 2018 15:41 UTC
@ezioda004 I meant inside the loop not after the loop
@ezioda004 I meant he could use the Regex to select A-M or N-Z

is there a way to cut the div in half

Feb 17 2018 17:37 UTC
@DevKosov - so what are you trying to cut in half? That second div, I guess? How are you doing this?
Altin Rrahmani
@DevKosov
Feb 17 2018 17:37 UTC
i can't find a way to do it
but this i just changed the color same with the text
so i want the div to be 50% width without overflow
so after i can add an other text in the background and make it similar to this
the trick is that i could use a photo but i want it parallax to the mouse movement
Ken Haduch
@khaduch
Feb 17 2018 17:52 UTC
@DevKosov - what if you did two divs side-by-side using flex and just aligned the text with margins or padding - if that worked, would it still work with the parallax? I haven't done anything like this...

Hi, I have created a navigation list without using list elements for my portfolio, is that going to cause any issues? What I've got:
<nav>
      <a href="#">About Me</a>
      <a href="#">My Projects</a>
      <a href="#">Contact</a>
    </nav>
Most resources mention using an unordered list for that
Altin Rrahmani
@DevKosov
Feb 17 2018 19:38 UTC
@fejkens what kind of issues do you think this will cause?
fejkens
@fejkens
Feb 17 2018 19:40 UTC
@DevKosov Just wondering if it will cause any parts of my navigation to behave differently than if I had used the <ul>
Altin Rrahmani
@DevKosov
Feb 17 2018 19:42 UTC
Both nav and ul elements can be used to create menu in html5
The nav element communicates that we're dealing with a major navigation block the list communicates that the links inside this navigation block form a list of items

@fejkens I've usually seen this format

<nav>
        <ul>
            <li><a href="">About me</a></li>
            <li><a href="">Projects</a></li>
            <li><a href="">Contact Me</a></li>
        </ul>
    </nav>

But thats prob because Ive used too much bootstrap, but its easier to maintain/style like this though.

fejkens
@fejkens
Feb 17 2018 20:12 UTC
@ezioda004 I have found styling a bit easier with my version, as with the list I was unsure whether apply the styling to the whole list or individual items, or the <a>'s. Do you think it's better to use the list? Thanks

@fejkens As just starting out its fine to not use complicated semantics but later the use of li comes when you make the webpage responsive and you collapse all the lis for mobile user so it gets easier to do it with the above semantics.

this is not going to make any sense to anybody but bear with me guys

function palindrome(str) {
var lettersNum=str.replace(/[^a-zA-Z\d\s]/g,'').toLowerCase();
var originalWords=lettersNum.split('').join(' ');
var reversedWords=lettersNum.split('').reverse(' ').join(' ');
for (var i=0;i<str.length;i++){
 if (originalWords[i]===reversedWords[i]){
 return true;
 }

  else if(originalWords[i]!=reversedWords[i]){
return false;
}
}
}

Like you dynamically add element to your html say div and you already have .addEventListener() in your code attached to that div
