I'm trying display: flex for the first time and everything seems to be put on the same line no matter which option I choose for justify-content. I can center the divs etc but they are put side by side in a row until it fills up the entire row - how can I make them go to a new "line" after every div like on default? I'm using flex for it's centering and aligning options which was recommended to me and it seems to be better, but I still need divs to be able to go on top or below one another and not all be in a line

@darkphotonKN Please make a Codepen or jsFiddle or some other simular service with your code. It's a lot easier for us to help you if we can see what you're talking about and are able to test solutions ourselves before presenting you with an answer that may or may not work.

@bjorno43 i normally do but i thought this was easy to understand without looking at the code as it happens without any code at all. Just two divs and one css display: flex and the divs go side by side. I was wondering why they go side by side and how to make them go on above the other lilke with display: block

@bjorno43 like in my codepen how do i make the form button etc go below the title? It's easy without display: flex because with display: block or nothing it just happens normally. But I want to use display: flex for centering the stuff on the screen, and I'm sure sites or whatever that use display: flex can't all have their divs in a row there must be a way to make them go one above the other

@darkphotonKN have u tried flex-direction?
Bjorn van de Peut
@bjorno43
May 19 2018 05:58
@darkphotonKN Ye as @Ohshi60 says, you'll have to provide the direction. This is good guide to the flexbox: https://css-tricks.com/snippets/css/a-guide-to-flexbox/

Flex doesn't just center stuff. There are other ways to do that. Flex is used to make use of the available space within the container. So if your container has an entire row with no width set available, flex will try to use the max available on the users screen

@bjorno43 ok i was told it's nice for making content inside a container to the center vertically and horizontally is it not true?

@darkphotonKN It is, but as I said, there are other options. This is the perfect guide for centering: https://css-tricks.com/centering-css-complete-guide/

Lucifer is the devil that ended up on earth. He gets involved with a detective and starts helping out solving cases. Unfortunetely for him a lot of those cases involve problems with hell and heaven and he somehow has to work through that. It's quite funny

I guys, I am looking for some problems in day to day life which can be solved by web based solutions. Can anyone suggest few things?
Ene Catalin
@EneCatalin
May 19 2018 08:59
well, you need to understand scope for even simple scripts
ima search for a link
@simpleguy747 besides shops/forums/games and socialization platforms I don't think there's that much web stuff you can do ?
stick with the FCC projects
they have a good learning curve
just go for the weather site project. It's useful (if common ) and teaches you how to use apis
get the data from here https://openweathermap.org/api parse it and display the results

There are many day to day problems that can be solved with web based solutions. The problem is: Almost everything already has such solutions available. But a great problem that many small to midsized companies face is a good workflow / ticket system. Say for example a client comes into the store to have a computer fixed. Save the complaint into the system. Where does it go from there? Who picked it up? What has been done about it? What's the status? Something like that is always interesting to build and sellable. And you'll also learn a lot along the way.

I mean, I once developed such a system for a company and they had it valued by an appraiser and it was estimated at 65k Euro. So ye, there's definitely money in it :laughing:
Too bad it was developed by order of my boss and during work time. So it didn't belong to me and obviously I never saw any of that money, lol

Unfortunetely that's no longer how it works these days. Continuity is one of the main concerns on the table before they even offer you a contract. That's why they usually ask that you're formilliar with certain libraries and/or frameworks. Because it makes them independent of you
On the bright side: That company went to hell eventually. It no longer exists. So I'm free to develop the system again and sell it :laughing:
