mstellaluna
@mstellaluna
Jun 16 2018 01:24 UTC
@anthonygallina1 lambda is serverless so it means you are using AWS processing power rather than having a VM run and process it for u
Kyle Holm
@thekholm80
Jun 16 2018 01:25 UTC
it's kind of neat, there's a service listening and when requests come in it spins up a server to handle the request, then milliseconds later the request resolves and the server is destroyed
the web server exists only as long as it takes to fulfill the request, so you don't have tons of servers sitting idle
at least that's how netflix's dev blog explained it
anthonygallina1
@anthonygallina1
Jun 16 2018 01:27 UTC
@mstellaluna yup I have a small knowledge of it. I havent actually used it except in class
Sure would be nice I spent a month on this box CIS standard and making partitions the right way etc.
Would be way cool to have snapshots etc
mstellaluna
@mstellaluna
Jun 16 2018 01:30 UTC
I don't think aws does snapshots
anthonygallina1
@anthonygallina1
Jun 16 2018 01:30 UTC
Felt like i would never get it done
Well the cloud would be optimal But even local Then wouldnt need to start from scratch every time
mstellaluna

jquery lib is linked in html .
instructor was showing in udemy course but when i typed that in my console, output was not the same, so thought to ask.

Ankit Tiwari
@anku255
Jun 16 2018 08:05 UTC
@mehdiamlal This stackoverflow post has many suggestions.
@mehdiamlal The easiest way to do with using any additional library would be to serve the html file directly using res.sendFile(pathToHtmlFile)

Jun 16 2018 08:07 UTC
hi guys, why does it work if arr2 should be undefined inside the function?
const arr1 = ['JAN', 'FEB', 'MAR', 'APR', 'MAY'];
let arr2;
(function() {
  "use strict";
  arr2 = [...arr1]; // change this line
})();
console.log(arr2);

@OStefani I am not sure if I understand your question.

let repeatNum = "42 42 42";
let reRegex = /(^\d{2,})\s\1\s\1$/; // Change this line
let result = reRegex.test(repeatNum);
console.log(result)
can someone please explain what line 2 does and why does this solve the capture groups challenge
Bjorn van de Peut
@bjorno43
Jun 16 2018 22:17 UTC

@koder3
( ... ) is just a capturing group
^ = The beginning of a string
\d = Matches a digit 0-9
{2,} = Between 2 and unlimited times. So it's true with 2 or more digits
\s = Any whitespace character, like a space for example
\1 = Is basicly a repeat of the previous capturing group. So in this case a copy of the above. This is done twice
$ = The end of a string

So this regex returns true if a string starts with at least 2 digits, followed by a space character, repeated 2 more times

Bjorn van de Peut
@bjorno43
Jun 16 2018 22:20 UTC
Well, as the whitespace character is outside of the capturing group, it doesn't require a whitespace at the end of the string. Should mention that
