I'm more and more surprised about how amazing Materialize css actually is
First I was pleased with the fact that Materilize doesn't mess with your structure (no pushing around elements), and now I've discovered it actually allowes you to decide which elements to hide or show depending on the device used
Kyle Holm
@thekholm80
Jun 17 2018 03:28
that sounds handy
Bjorn van de Peut
@bjorno43
Jun 17 2018 03:29
Yes. And it also allowes you change the size of other elements depending on the device used so they can take the place of hidden elements
So for example I've got a side menu on the left and a content page on the right. If a mobile is used, it'll hide the menu on the left and change the content page to cover the whole page
With a top menu that hides like it does in Bootstrap, except that it actually turns in a real mobile side menu. So no drop-down like pushing of elements, but actually a menu that pops up swiping on mobile

Bjorn van de Peut
@bjorno43
Jun 17 2018 03:34
It is. But I admit. Now I'm learning more and more about Materialize, it's a huge breeze compared to Bootstrap

can you imagine if you had to tailor your server code to run on 11 different environments across a ton of different devices, equipment configs, etc?
you'd end up with Windows

I actually had one of those as well.. long time ago
Client wanted to hire a server. So I told her she needed a credit card for that and where she could hire it
A week later an email in my inbox: I'm sorry but I can't figure it out. Here's my credit card details. Could you take care of it?

Bjorn van de Peut
@bjorno43
Jun 17 2018 03:47
And worst part was that SSL was almost no where to be found back in those days
First thing I did was contact her bank, tell them what happened and that they should contact their client and block the card asap
And after that contact the client myself, telling her when she got her new credit card, she could visit the office with her card and I'd more than happy to help her out, lol

Jun 17 2018 03:52
Yup. The amount of gullable people online is terrible. Even these days
Especially those on public (non-specific) chatrooms. They're so used to communicating with people online only, they think getting to know someone online is enough to earn a level trust which people like us wouldn't even give to our own parents

guys suddenly the html / index.html file on my chrome browser does not have my footer / script link to my js file. This has never happened before, i was wondering why the functionality stopped working and it was become the script is not linked. I made sure it is saved it's just so odd that it was workign on the browser for weeks (slowly making a site) but then without even touching the index.html the script tag disappears (on the browser version of this html file) and so it stops working. Does anyone know what might be happening?
i feel like it's to do with the package manager not including certain parts of my code on compilation.. the really strange thing is i haven't re-packaged / compiled whatever its called in ages because it automatically "builds" it (says "built in 0.x seconds on the console). Have been working on these for weeks like I said, and suddenly when built it excludes my script tag randomly? Is such a thing possible

<link rel="stylesheet" href="//cdn.bootcss.com/bootstrap/3.3.1/css/bootstrap.min.css"/>

在此案例中,我们已经帮你把上述代码添加到页面中。

首先,我们需要把所有的HTML内容放在class为container-fluid的div下。

hel
help
你的 div 元素应该包含类属性 container-fluid.
确保你的每一个 div 元素都有一个闭合标签.
确保你已经将所有HTML元素内嵌在 .container-fluid 之中

SO takes some getting used to. If you include the correct data in your question, you've got nothing to fear. Usually a very short description of your project in general, followed by a description of what it is you're trying to do. Then make sure to explain what you've already tried yourself and include any relevant code into the question. If you follow those guidelines, you'll be fine :smile:

The problem that most people have with SO is that they don't understand how the website works. People ask questions there about how they should do something. And that's now what SO is about. As they say: If your question starts with "How do I..", SO is the wrong place to ask. If your question starts with I've tried.. it didn't work. What did I do wrong?", SO is the place to be

Depends Aimée. Reputation means something if you actually earned it through answering a lot of different questions. Bjorn van de Peut
@bjorno43
Jun 17 2018 21:55
Nah that's no longer true. It used to be the difference between scripting and programming. But with scripts becoming capable of so much more than what they used to be, they're definitely on the same level as any "real" programming langauge or at least close to it
Kyle Holm
@thekholm80

Bjorn van de Peut

Jun 17 2018 22:07
Haha. I still remember the first time he asked me to help. He was just explaining me what the idea was. So when he finished, I asked him what kind of approach we should take. He just said: Here's the first beta, can you test it out? Just programmed the whole the thing while explaining the idea to me xD Of course it was a small program, but still
Aimée
@Aimee-MacDonald
Jun 17 2018 22:08
lol that's when you think in code
I used to write python code like that sometimes, just test the idea out as it forms in my mind
It was so easy to call youself a 'data-scientist' a few years ago :P
Bjorn van de Peut
@bjorno43
Jun 17 2018 22:10

Bjorn van de Peut

Well I usually avoid talking with religious people. I mean, I respect religion a lot! But for some reason I can make pretty much anyone question their own beliefs. It came to the point where my home address is actually on a blacklist in the Jehovah witness database..

Jun 17 2018 22:32
How big are they, can you sammich it?
Bjorn van de Peut
@bjorno43
Jun 17 2018 22:35
They're like 25 / 30 cm long and bout 3 cm in diameter. It's a mix several types of meat, mostly pork and beef. They're deep fried for about 4.5 minutes. They're usually eat with mayonaise or in the form that's known as "frikandel speciaal". Which is like this: https://thumbs.dreamstime.com/b/frikandel-speciaal-traditional-dutch-white-background-69605529.jpg
Just mayonaise, curry (not tomato ketchup) and unions inside
