function filteredArray(arr, elem) {
    let newArr = [];
    // change code below this line
     for (let i = 0; i <arr.length; i ++){
         let arr1 = arr[i];
         for (let j = 0; j <arr[i].length; j++){
             let arr2 = arr[i][j];
            if (arr1.includes(elem){
                newArr.push(arr2)
            }

         }
    }
    // change code above this line
    return newArr || [];
  }

  // change code here to test different cases:
  console.log(filteredArray([[3, 2, 3], [1, 6, 3], [3, 13, 26], [19, 3, 9]], 3));
@Manish-Giri i was trying to use slice, so i could remove nested arr ,if the elem of nested arr equals to elem
Aditya
@ezioda004
Sep 06 2018 00:53
@coderkarma You do realize .indexOf is a loop itself right? The innerloop is serving no purpose
Karma Drukpa
@coderkarma
Sep 06 2018 00:53
yeah sorry,
I am confused, this thing taking time .
Manish Giri
@Manish-Giri
Sep 06 2018 00:56
@coderkarma you could avoid the second for loop altogether
Aditya
@ezioda004
Sep 06 2018 00:56
.includes is a also a loop
Manish Giri
@Manish-Giri
Sep 06 2018 00:56
you're already using .includes(), so there's no need of a second for loop either
Karma Drukpa
@coderkarma
Sep 06 2018 00:57
if i avoid second loop how could i see the elem is inside the nested arr
ok
Aditya
@ezioda004
Sep 06 2018 00:57
The first loop is giving you the nested array
Manish Giri
@Manish-Giri
Sep 06 2018 00:58
for (let i = 0; i <arr.length; i ++){
let arr1 = arr[i];
just check if arr1 includes elem
Aditya
@ezioda004
Sep 06 2018 00:59
return newArr || []; I dont get this logic either
newArr will never be falsy value
let newArr = [];
Karma Drukpa
@coderkarma
Sep 06 2018 01:04
@aditya i thought, if all nested arr has elem then i would like to return empty arrr.

Just cheat by looking at other's solutions after solving it

what the freak s wrong with this
function titleCase(str) {

@anandpotukchi e is a string, and .join() is an array method

so
do i assign the fucntion to a variable
and perform this
Aditya
@ezioda004
Sep 06 2018 07:21
You probably wanna just update the element of split array, if you use .forEach you'll need more arguments, cause you'll want to do split[i] = //mutate me
And after the forEach is complete, you join this updated array back
Anand Potukuchi
@anandpotukchi
Sep 06 2018 07:24
Wasn't able to do that
that's why i came up with this

["hello"], how'd you mutate this array to ["Hello"]?
Anand Potukuchi

@pdurbin any ideas?
@ezioda004 split and change the first element?
let me think
Aditya
@ezioda004
Sep 06 2018 07:26
Its already an array so dont need to split
let x = ["hello"];
//do something here
console.log(x); // ["Hello"];
Once you figure this out, you can figure out how to solve the above challenge
Anand Potukuchi
@anandpotukchi
Sep 06 2018 07:28
yeah using [0] element
but it's a string
@ezioda004
Aditya
@ezioda004

Right, Strings are immutable so you'll have to create a new one (clone/copy), bunch of method that can help out such as .substr(), .substring(), .slice() etc.

@ds980529
Sep 06 2018 08:53
@dhairyadwivedi This is basically the case. My English has not passed Grade Four, and my reading ability is general.

Change Text Inside an Element Using jQuery

JQuery can change not only the text between the start tag and the end tag, but also the element tag itself.

JQuery's. HTML () method adds HTML tags and text to the element, and the content before the element is replaced by the content of the method.

We rewrite and emphasize the title text through the em[emphasize] tag.

$("H3").Html ("<em>jQuery Playground</em>");

JQuery also has a similar method called.Text (), which can only change the text but not the tag. In other words, this method will only display any incoming items, including tags, as text.

Task: emphasize ID as the text in the target4 button.

Run tests (Ctrl + Enter)

Reset Help Bug

Emphasize the text of the target4 button by adding HTML tags.

Make sure that the button you change is target4.//Here is the wrong report.

Do not change any text.

Make sure that the method you use is.Html (), not.Text ().

Make sure that you use the ID selector in jQuery.

Dhairya
@dhairyadwivedi
Sep 06 2018 08:57
You just have to make the text in target-4 to italics
Don't change the text at all
$("#target4").html("<em>jQuery Playground</em>");
You've done this, right?
The text between the <em> tags should not be jQuery Playground
It should remain as #target4
@ds980529

});

Claudio Restifo
@Marmiz
Sep 06 2018 09:02

@ds980529
you have used this code:

$("#target4").html("<em>jQuery Playground</em>");

That correctly select the right element and, insert the html written inside replacing what was there before.
The challenge ask you to not change the text.

so imagine

<button id="myButton">Submit</button>

I can change the html inside the button. If I want to make it bold I use the em tags. But I still want to keep the original text: "submit".

$("#myButton").html("<em>Submit</em>")

will insert a "subit" bolded text

I have this situation in my Angular application where I have to change the initial part of URL based on a property to be true or false. How can I do that in my app.
initially all my URLs will be https://cdn-expa.aiesec.org/some-img.png but problem aries when the object ---> {"feature":"cdn_enabled", "active":true} the field active will turns to false.
Then in that case I want all the URLs in my applications to be changed to https://s3-eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/cdn.expa.aiesec.org/some-img.png.
This has to be done at run time as soon as the user visit my application and my API can return any value true or false based on user location.
How can I do this thing? Can anybody guide me on this?

i don't understand that challenge

it says

return true if the walk the app gives you will take you exactly ten minutes (you don't want to be early or late!) and will, of course, return you to your starting point. Return false otherwise.

but then the tests:

Test isValidWalk(['w','e','e','w','s','w','e','e','w','s']); should return 0. Instead got: 1 .

psyperl
@psyperl
Sep 06 2018 16:56
exactly.. confusing

Sep 06 2018 16:57

Sep 06 2018 16:57
my original solution arr.length === 10 should be it
Kyle Holm
@thekholm80
Sep 06 2018 16:57
that's what i figured
if it's one block per letter, one minute per block, 10 min walk, return arr.length === 10
psyperl
@psyperl
Sep 06 2018 16:57
^
Kyle Holm
@thekholm80
Sep 06 2018 16:58
or perhaps return arr.length === 10 ? 1 : 0
oh no
will, of course, return you to your starting point.
i guess you have to figure out if the walk returns you to the start
psyperl
@psyperl
Sep 06 2018 16:59
nope it actually measure the trip back
everytime you press the button it sends you an array of one-letter strings representing directions to walk (eg. ['n', 's', 'w', 'e']). You always walk only a single block in a direction
thing is.. every push we wouldn't know where to go after and we already walked
and time spent
so story and code does not matched
Kyle Holm
@thekholm80
Sep 06 2018 17:00
this is why i don't do a lot of codewars - i spend more time trying to decypher the instructions than it takes to write the code
psyperl
@psyperl
Sep 06 2018 17:00
yeah
alpox
@alpox
Sep 06 2018 17:00
I still think one has to see if its 10 long and returns to the starting point
Kyle Holm
@thekholm80
Sep 06 2018 17:01
@alpox that's what i'm thinking now, too
you have 2 things to check - the time and the end point

freeCodeCamp is a friendly place to learn to code ( except for PHP ). We’re committed to keeping it that way.

i don't think this place if far from it though

and i think it's good to be on a chat ( at least ) for me when i code.. although it can have a negative effect of chatting too much.. but it allows me to connect with people.. when i code more often than not.. i felt like i got disconnected from the world ( and the time ).. kind of dangerous

Kyle Holm
@thekholm80
Sep 06 2018 19:02
The key difference between a library and a framework is "Inversion of Control". When you call a method from a library, you are in control. But with a framework, the control is inverted: the framework calls you. A library is just a collection of class definitions.
Aditya
