Just curious, did any of you use redux in your front-end projects
becaus I don't get the whole cocnept of why we're using it
Amit Patel
@AmitP88
Oct 04 2018 11:44
I think redux is only meant for larger scale projects tbh
I mean, the purpose of it is to essentially to have one state object accessible to all components in your app right?
and no, I haven't used redux in any of the front end projects. At least not yet. I have to rebuilt my previous versions of Drum Machine, JS Calculator, and Pomodoro in React (I had built them previously in the old front end certification)

Hello! I have declared the property with jquery to change the background image and it is displayed on chrome dev tools like this: <div class="vc_parallax-inner skrollable skrollable-between" data-bottom-top="top: -50%;" data-top-bottom="top: 0%;" style="background-image: url("http://localhost/slide1-nrm.png"></div>
but browser is displaying a blank space. How to solve it?

hey guys, on Glitch, I can't seem to find the Log button. The basic node and express challenge says:

On Glitch you can open the logs in the lower part of the screen. You can toggle the log panel with the button ‘Logs’ (top-left, under the app name).

But I can't find it when I look there

glitch.png
I clicked on the status button and it shows debugger and console buttons, and when I click on console, a new tab opens up a terminal
when I try console.log("Hello World"); in that terminal, I get an error (the challenge wants me to enter in console.log("Hello World"); after clicking on the Log button
psyperl
@psyperl
Oct 04 2018 12:47
that was bash console.. not js console ( the one from status button ) i think
maybe glitch changed the interface? not sure
Amit Patel
@AmitP88
Oct 04 2018 12:53
hmmm
yeah, it looked like bash terminal
I thought it was just going to be like the dev console
I don't really know how to complete this challenge tbh
psyperl
@psyperl
Oct 04 2018 12:55
just use browser console and paste your link there?
Aditya
@ezioda004
Oct 04 2018 12:56
@AmitP88 If you click the "status" button you'll see an option for console
Amit Patel
@AmitP88

@ezioda004 I tried that

@AmitP88 What are you trying to do?
fulfill this challenge
Aditya
@ezioda004
Oct 04 2018 12:57
Go to myApp.js and then do console.log()
Amit Patel
@AmitP88
Oct 04 2018 12:57
ah ok
ok, that worked
I think @psyperl was right - they may have changed the interface since that challenge was written
thanks @ezioda004 @psyperl

To get started, just print the classic "Hello World" in the console. We recommend to keep the log panel open while working at these challenges. Reading the logs you can be aware of the nature of the errors that may occur.

I interpret this as log "Hello World" to the console and not type "Hello world" in the console itself

Amit Patel
@AmitP88
Oct 04 2018 13:01
I thought I was doing that though by clicking the console button and inputting console.log("Hello World");
but maybe in that terminal setting it's different, since when I input that I run into a bash error
psyperl
@psyperl
Oct 04 2018 13:02
seems like it shows on that panel as well if you console.log
the status panel
Amit Patel

oh I see
I think I read somewhere that it would need a refresh to show up on glitch, but I guess not

Tom
@moT01
Oct 04 2018 13:39
that looks like it should work
Ariel
@ArielLeslie
Oct 04 2018 13:39
@Atulsinghm Only the words "Stanford University" should be bold, not the period. You'll get in the habit of looking very closely at details like this.
Tom
@moT01
Oct 04 2018 13:39
maybe try putting the period outside the tag

can i use media query inside css rule in sass. My piece of code is not working

.parent {
    .child {
        @media only screen and (max-width: 36.9375em) {
            margin-right: 0;
        }
    }
}

@NeelDVirus I believe media queries are independent and should have the selectors within

From MDN:

The @media at-rule may be placed at the top level of your code or nested inside any other conditional group at-rule.

Brad Collins

with sass you can nest them, but not sure you can css rule > css rule > media
