Anyone ever have trouble with reset or normalize in codepen? When I go to the settings for CSS in a pen and choose reset, it doesn't see to change anything. It only seems to reset if I add the reset code to the CSS section myself.

Jul 02 2016 05:18

function pairwise(arr, arg) {
  var index = [];

  for (var a in arr){
    var temp1 = arr[a];

    for (var i = 1; i<arr.length; i++){
      var temp2 = arr[i];

      if (temp1 + temp2 === arg && i > a && index.indexOf(+a) === -1 & index.indexOf(+i) === -1){
        index.push(+a, +i);
        break;
      }
    }
  }

  if (index.length >1){
    var addAll = function (a , b){
      return a + b;
    };
    return index.reduce(addAll);
  }

  else {
    return 0;
  }

}

pairwise([1, 1, 1], 2);
@bgeraci714 it maes a difference when I use indexOf(+a) and indexOf(a) and index.push(+a,+i) vs index.push(a,i)
basically the code wouldn't work without the pluses
which I don't understand why and couldn't find any solution on google

@sigursiguros The + just parses the argument. It basically just turns a string value into an integer

I just ran your code
and if you print out the values you get from your pairwise function
you get 01 with the +a and +i inside your indexOf
but if you change them to a and i, you get 0112 which is closer to what i think you're looking for
JD Tadlock
@jdtdesigns
Jul 02 2016 05:28
@sigursiguros You can pass a variable into indexOf() or use it on a variable(str.indexOf())
Blake Geraci
@bgeraci714
Jul 02 2016 05:29
ultimately the answer for pairwise([1,1,1],2) should be 4
@sigursiguros, be careful for that little pitfall. You might actually want the regular a and i as opposed to +a and +i
sigursiguros
@sigursiguros
Jul 02 2016 05:57
the pairwise for ([1,1,1],2) should be 1
as the first 1 (index of 0) pairs with the second 2 (index of 1) and sum of 0 and 1 equals 1
sigursiguros
@sigursiguros
Jul 02 2016 06:02
so why is passing a and +a giving different results in my code? I don't get it

@bohumil1919 you will have to host it somewhere unless you have a Pro codepen account
Some people have just put it on Dropbox free account and linked in or on their github account you created here and linked in the img src to it
Also I hear this one is decent and works, but I haven't tested it https://postimage.org/
I do know imgur does not work so don't put there and link in.

Hey guys, why are there white spaces around my background-picture?
Ken Haduch
@khaduch
Jul 02 2016 14:23
@quocanh261997 - if you change your CSS to this, it doesn't have the margin around it:
body {
    background-image: url("http://www.ozwallpaper.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/starry_night_hd_desktop_background.jpg");
  background-repeat: no-repeat;
  background-size: cover;
}
Quoc Anh Nguyen
@quocanh261997
Jul 02 2016 14:26
@khaduch actually, I haven't added bootstrap in the feature, so that's why it has the white spaces =))
Ken Haduch
@khaduch
Jul 02 2016 14:28
@quocanh261997 - oh, I see. With bootstrap normalize.css is loaded, and sets the margin for the body to 0, so that takes care of it... good!

so this:

body {
  margin: 0;
}

would do the same thing. in case you were trying not to use bootstrap.

@zenflint - one thing that I see - you have spelled "label" incorrectly?
@vichus1995 - it looks like the height of those elements is such that there is a lot of white space below the up-arrow, and a lot of white space above the down arrow, so the overall element is vertically centered, but it is not drawn so that the triangular part of the image is in the center of the item... maybe you need a different icon?
Ken Haduch
@khaduch
Jul 02 2016 15:07
@vichus1995 - like you might try fa-arrow-up and fa-arrow-down or fa-caret-up and fa-caret-down - I was looking in the "Directional Icons" section on the http://fontawesome.io/icons/ page
@vichus1995 and vertical-align might only work with table elements?
@Iadetunji - what are you trying to do - do you have a project link or something? Sounds like you just need to add some jquery (or javascript) code to change CSS styles for your colors?

@sorinr your project is awesome. I'd make the blue more muted like the green and red and remove the border from the box at left. You might also consider making the names on the left in gray boxes to go better with your dark theme

or find another api with https support

@hristijankiko imgur doesn’t permit you to use them as a picture store for web pages.. I can’t see your background image and therefore the white text on it

@mutantspore So i need to upload it somwhere else? i can see it just fine on my screen
Bruce Young
@mutantspore
Jul 02 2016 23:38

@hristijankiko yes you will see it as it’s your image .
from their Terms section

Also, don't use Imgur to host image libraries you link to from elsewhere, content for your website, advertising, avatars, or anything else that turns us into your content delivery network.

you can try http://postimage.org
or your dropbox

Bruce Young
@mutantspore
Jul 02 2016 23:42
@hristijankiko yes the image is ok but you need to work on the units changer. make the conversion once when you get the data… not each time you press the button. if you press yours several times it gets like this for me 26.666666666666668 C
