Hi, currently working on the Personal Portfolio and I implemented a navbar, but whenever I click on one of the options, the horizontal scrollbar flies past the navbar. I even tried hiding the scrollbar with CSS, but that didn't work. Can someone please help me?
Here's what I have right now:

@kevinjanada add an id to ur button
use that same id on aria-labelledby="ur id" on the ul element
go to settings javascript and add jquery and bootstrap <--- in that order
dinamyc bootstrap component requires the bootstrap.js file
and boostrap.js uses jquery

@ryanapolinar - hmm, that's another problem, isn't it... I just checked mine, and although I haven't tried it in a while, I think that it used to automatically collapse after clicking the link? Seems like it should do that, doesn't it? Well, the bootstrap navbar on w3schools does not roll up the collapsed navbar when you click on it, either? Seems like you would want that to happen?

@ryanapolinar - you can read some solutions for this at this Stackoverflow note - there is some simple jquery / javascript that you can put in place, apparently... The solution that you had with those collapse attributes in the links has the problem that you were seeing with the scrollbar, that is described in the various topics on that entry. I just tried it and it seems to work, at least on the desktop. Haven't tried it on a real mobile device.

@leena-d you just need to pick a person of your choice and be sure to meet the user stories, for example, make sure you include a link that provides the user with more information... your page does not have to be identical to the example so long as you meet the user stories
hope that helps

Hi Guys. I'm trying to finish my second challenge in Basic Front End called "Show the Local Weather". I have two days stuck with this. When I ran my project with Firefox Developer tools, the API respond and my variables works fine; but... when I ran without debug, it doesn't work. http://codepen.io/faisal1337/pen/bZONag?editors=1100 So I have this grid. Helper classes are being used to display different grid for mobile. I've nested a row inside aother row so that or mobile the layout doesn't go buggy. As I resize the browser window the layout works as expected but when I test it on a browser like blisk which emulates for mobile devices, it still shows the layout of desktop version of grid. how do you use ajax to parse contents when the whole response contains only {} and no []
Am I making sense?
Darth Skywalker
@adityaparab
Aug 13 2016 06:35
@SarthakAdhikari : You can't something that doesn't exist

Although, you can check if the response has something or is empty ({} or [])

underscorejs/lodash has an api for that called .isEmpty

var res1 = {};
var res2 = [];

var res3 = { key:'value');
var res4 = [1,2,3,4];

_.isEmpty(res1); // true
_.isEmpty(res2); // true

_.isEmpty(res3); // false
_.isEmpty(res4); // false

Quick question: according to web standards, using <i> tags to generate icons is bad practice, why does Font-Awesome still encourage this? Should we use spans?
Elbert Cortez
@trip16661
Aug 13 2016 08:08
@SarthakAdhikari you should use on submit instead of on click
it gies it more dynamic and less coding since you will be able to search on enter and on click
@kenchung1996 I thgink if u make them yourself make them span aside from that i dont see the need to specifically change it
since i tags are really not so common

the whole purpose of the if is to check if if certain condition
and then do something
Darth Skywalker
@adityaparab
Aug 13 2016 08:23

@luis4flames : Your 1st if

if(prop !== "tracks" && value !== "") {
    collection[id][prop].push(value);
  }

if props is NOT tracks, you DONT wanna .push. you just wanna assign value to collection[id][prop]

Elbert Cortez
@trip16661
Aug 13 2016 08:24
but when the if ends it still need to return something
more like
if 1
something is changed
if 2
something is changed
else
return

so if the condition on 1 is meet, the second if wont run
 neither the else just the first one

I'm having some issues with my portfolio. I use two monitors and, while switching back and forth, I notice that the page is not responsive to resizing. I've tried the solution found here and here , but neither worked. Also, the images in the gallery area seem to travel over my fixed navbar at the top and I notice that it only happens when I use 'position' in CSS. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hello! I'm having some issues with my navbar (or images) on my portfolio page. The navbar is supposed to be stuck to the top of the page and the content should flow beneath when scrolling. However, the images in my gallery pass over the navbar. This didn't start happening until I added "col-xs-4" to the images. Is there a way to solve this problem without removing "col-xs-4"? I also noticed that it happens if I add "position" styling to the images in CSS. Thanks in advance.

@dagman It looks nice. Some bugs from testing:
  • I can't enter a decimal that's less than 1 without entering a 0 first. (for example: .01 has to be entered as 0.01).
  • There's a floating point arithmetic issue in your code: (0.1 * 0.1 = 0.010000000000000002)
  • If I enter any number longer than 10 digits, pressing the add/subtract/multiply/divide buttons adds a decimal to the number.
  • Math operations with 2 negative numbers don't work. (-2 * -3)

I'm currently stuck on this problem, it's supposed to print out this in Javascript to the console:

"FirstLinenewline``backslashSecondLinebackslash``carriage-returnThirdLine"

here's what I have right now, I might be missing something but as far as I can see, it's correct

 var myStr = "FirstLine\n\\SecondLine\\\rThirdline";
FirstLine
\SecondLine\
ThirdLine
that first one was a bad representation, here's what it should be printing
