hey guys, I'm working on my first client's site and here's what I have so far: https://amitp88.github.io/Khmer-Family-Cafe/ Just wanted to see what you guys think. I still have a few things to adjust and add, but this is pretty much 85-90% done.

@cuent It needs to go after the question mark in the URL, I believe, without an ampersand in front: https://github.com/FreeCodeCamp/FreeCodeCamp/wiki/FreeCodeCamp-Disable-Code-Autorun
@mradil16 This CSS will flip text backwards, you'll need to remove your JS to see it work correctly:
#flip-cart:hover {
  -webkit-transform:rotateY(180deg);
  -moz-transform:rotateY(180deg);
  -o-transform:rotateY(180deg);
  -ms-transform:rotateY(180deg);
}

@TylerMoeller It's because the URL have changed. For example, my URL looks like this: https://www.freecodecamp.com/challenges/sum-all-odd-fibonacci-numbers
How should I use the variable run?
Tyler Moeller
@TylerMoeller
Nov 13 2016 00:17
@cuent I would do this, per the instructions: https://www.freecodecamp.com/challenges/sum-all-odd-fibonacci-numbers#?run=disabled
If URLs have changed though, you may need to file an issue to get that wiki page updated with the correct info
Xavier Sumba
@cuent
Nov 13 2016 00:18
I already tried that. Maybe it is an issue, so I'll post it.
Thanks, @TylerMoeller

Hello, just started the random quote project, the JSON projects are very lacking and were basically Copy and Paste without much explanation. Can I accumulate all the quotes into a JSON object (quote and author )and keep it in the JS file or do I need to link to an outside quote website and figure out how to grab quotes from it?

Ken Haduch
@khaduch
Nov 13 2016 14:36
@ionakathryn - is this the twitter problem that you're having? I would guess that you are assigning multiple click handlers for your twitter button, you have to check that and make sure that you don't put multiple handlers there because each one will fire for the button click.
ionakathryn
@ionakathryn
Nov 13 2016 14:38
@khaduch this is my share tweet function
Ken Haduch
@khaduch
Nov 13 2016 14:38
@ionakathryn - I just found your link, and that's what I think is happening, your function getQuote()is always invoking this code: $("#share-buttons").click(shareTweet);, which is adding another handler.
ionakathryn
@ionakathryn
Nov 13 2016 14:39

function shareTweet(){
var authorTotweet = obj1[x].author;
authorTotweet = encodeURI(authorTotweet);
var quoteTotweet = obj1[x].quote;
quoteTotweet = encodeURI(quoteTotweet);

}

sorry that wasn't correctly formatted!
OK what do you mean by handler?
Ken Haduch
@khaduch
Nov 13 2016 14:41

@ionakathryn - I love the quotes, by the way...

The click handler is the function that you pass in the parentheses when you set the .click() method. Each time you execute the code $("#share-buttons").click(shareTweet);, it is adding another click handler to the share-buttons, so that every time you click it, the shareTweet() function gets invoked according to the number of times that you have added handlers.

ionakathryn
@ionakathryn
Nov 13 2016 14:41
I have ended the function before $("#share-buttons").click(shareTweet);
ah so the sharetweet function accumulates?
Ken Haduch
@khaduch
Nov 13 2016 14:43
@ionakathryn - right now, you have some syntax error in your javascript panel - and yes, the invoking of the .click method actually adds additional event handlers to your tweet button, so they do add up.
ionakathryn
@ionakathryn
Nov 13 2016 14:44
OK
do you know how to solve this? :/
I find front end stuff so much more difficult than back end! haah
Ken Haduch
@khaduch
Nov 13 2016 14:46
@ionakathryn - one thing that you could try is to keep a global variable that will indicate that you added a click handler, so you only do it once, Then you have to make sure that your shareTweet function get the correct quote to tweet, one that matches your displayed quote.
the tweeting part of this seems to always cause problems for people...
@ionakathryn - for some reason, I'm not getting the twitter window to open when I click it?
Gaston Kirsman
@gastikirs
Nov 13 2016 14:50
Guys, how can I "draw" lines like under the number 350?
http://imgur.com/a/DUVCV
ionakathryn
@ionakathryn
Nov 13 2016 14:52
Omg I have no idea @khaduch how about if i add the share tweet function inside my click handler...
$("#share-buttons").click(function(){
    var authorTotweet = obj1[x].author;
    authorTotweet = encodeURI(authorTotweet);
    var quoteTotweet = obj1[x].quote;
    quoteTotweet = encodeURI(quoteTotweet);
    });
Ken Haduch
@khaduch
Nov 13 2016 14:54
@ionakathryn - unfortunately, I have to run now... I forked your pen, with an idea that I started to work on... your pen to move the handler outside of the getQuote function... I will check in when I get back, but it wouldn't be for a few hours. Post a question and tag me if you want to have me look at it later? Good luck, Cheers!

@ionakathryn i've moved it to the getquote function. you update the dom from there. btw it should be $('#share-buttons>a').attr("href", 'https://twitter.com/intent/tweet?text=' + obj1[x].quote);

this might be a dumb question but is there a way to automatically change a users Location to on when he uses your website on mobile? or at least have a window and inside it have a button/switch that if he presses it turns on Location for the phone. I mean one of these 2,instead of making a popup asking the user to turn on his Location options (by scrolling down from the top, going to the options if that's already not the first thing he sees and pressing the Location button )?

Hello guys,

I have been having a problem with my Weather App, when i send GET request i get this error in the console (No 'Access-Control-Allow-Origin' header is present on the requested resource. Origin 'null' is therefore not allowed access.)

after searching for a while i came to the conclusion that i need to change from json to jsonp,

but when i do this i get another error (because its MIME type ('application/json') is not executable, and strict MIME type checking is enabled.)

and i can't find a solution to this (i think the server isn't allowing for jsonp requests).

i am using metaweather.com/api/ since it is the only keyless weather api i found.

Nov 13 2016 19:06
Because i dont understand what in the world I am doing
kat-mag
@kat-mag
Nov 13 2016 19:10
if you do var fahrenheit; you reserve a place for your F. So that's where it's going to be stored. If you do var fahrenheit = celsius you're telling your function that fahrenheit is equal to celsius, and it's the same thing. So your fahrenheit is no fahrenheit no more ;D
So. var fahrenheit = < there you add the conversion formula with provided celsius

Hello Everyone. I have a question, how can i use Boject Literal to print an HTML link by accessing the objects properties?
kat-mag
@kat-mag
Nov 13 2016 19:14
They're giving you celsius to use by doing function convertToF(celsius) {. That's how you pass a value to a function, so you can use it later, @rafaelmateo
Rafael Mateo
@rafaelmateo

@rafaelmateo you just made a couple of errors. first go google what is the function to convert a value from Celsius to Fahrenheit. then you will understand that to get the conversion you will need something like: var fahrenheit = here you write the conversion function using the celsius parameter

@PierreProgramer that picture is really big and took a little big to load, ...the browser loads the original picture then shrinks it down, so if you find a smaller picture it will have an easier time, ...also when you shrink the window the picture goes out of its container, set the maxwidth to 100% to fix that
the color combinations are a little obnoxious in my opinion

Ken Haduch
@khaduch
Nov 13 2016 19:30

@rafaelmateo - a couple other tips that might be helpful - for most of these challenges, they give you an initial set of code - and indicate where you should make code changes. At the end of the function, they put the code return fahrenheit; which means that that variable should hold the result of the calculation or action that the function is supposed to perform. You can use that as a clue for what you should do. Also, as pointed out above by @kat-mag - the function arguments, in this case celsius should generally be used in the solution to the problem. Occasionally, you will see that you are returning the same variable, sometimes that is necessary.

The next thing that is very useful is the test results - many times by analyzing those, you can figure out where things have gone wrong in your code. It just takes time, and I've seen this challenge be a tricky one for many people - it is one of those challenges that combines several concepts that were part of the earlier lessons and requires you to construct a solution using them. It's a stepping stone, and there are several others that will come up that have the same trickiness factor, because it will seem like things that you have no clue about, although they were covered in lessons leading up to it. Tying things together is the name of the game as things get more complicated. Good luck!
