Boostrap should automatically make the image do "max-width: 100%". do you have any parameters already set for the image that would override it?
If you don't then I would try and make a class for that image that is set for max-width: 100%. That should keep it under the column parameters

Hello, so Im on the Build a Personal Portfolio Webpage and was wondering if Im going about this correctly . I google a lot of things that I don't know and find different codes for all kinds of things. I guess what Im asking is how far do yall go as for googling? and whats considered cheating? I don't think Im suppose to just google and then copy and paste what i finding on bootstrap or am I doing that right?

@Seangee86 How I look at it.. We are still at the beginning stages at this point. Pretty much everything we are going to learn are from googling and finding answers through stackoverload, w3school, etc. Only thing I'd say so it's not "cheating" is to make sure you understand why the code you pasted is doing what it's doing
I personally like to do bit by bit.. So I can what each part is attributing to my page

@Seangee86 if you stuck remember to Read-Search-Ask. nothing wrong with googling and searching or asking here or StackOverflow or whatever. as long as you understand the code that you write i think it is ok. just try you best not to copy paste it.

hey has anyone had problems connecting to Open Weather App API via JSON on the Show-local-weather challenge? I keep getting "Connection refused"
function loadApi(){
var url = "https://api.openweathermap.org/data/2.5/weather?q=London&APPID=acc8d4605f9cd704986ae82f15e5261c";
var apiData = $.getJSON(url, function(){

});
$("#weather").html(JSON.stringify(apiData));

Ken Haduch
@khaduch
Jun 24 2017 04:00
@20thousandhardcoremembers - yes, now that CodePen (I assume that you're using CodePen) forces https:// access for the page, you need to use a weather API that will work with https://. The free version of the openweather API does not support secure access. There is a darksky site that does work, I think that that is the one that is recommended for this project nowadays... There are a couple forum notes on this project freeCodeCamp/freeCodeCamp#7853 and this one, too: freeCodeCamp/freeCodeCamp#9145 - you can scan through those, if you haven't seen them, and see what insight they have to offer. I think that the URL for the site is https://darksky.net

@sabin20 - this line: document.getElementById('#wea').innerHTML=temp+"F";//waether is not correct. You do not have an element with the ID of #wea, I think? Looks like #weather is there, but try that next. OOPS - sorry, i see that you have an id #wea - but that code is getting an error.

Ken Haduch
@khaduch
Jun 24 2017 04:15
@sabin20 - in jquery you would have to use the #, but for that javascript function, it is .getElementById, so you just put the name of the ID value, the # is not correct in that case. Check the documentation at https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/API/Document/getElementById and you'll see the correct usage.

<link rel="stylesheet" href="style.css">
@MachineVision2020 like this if you have index.html and style.css in the same folder. otherwise you need to specify the path
that should be between <head></head>
put it right below the <title></title>
  <head>
    <meta charset="utf-8">
    <title>Calculator</title>
    <link rel="stylesheet" href="https://maxcdn.bootstrapcdn.com/bootstrap/3.3.7/css/bootstrap.min.css">

You use anchor tags with an href that links to an id in the website
For example <a href="#about">
Which upon clicking it will take you to the element which as an id of "about"

Quick question: I just started doing the portfolio challenge and I imported a font from Google. In the HTML, I put " <link href="https://fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Spectral" rel="stylesheet">" and in the CSS file I put "body {
font-family: 'Spectral', serif;
font-size: 18px;
}
"
However, my <h1> within the <body> doesn't reflect the Spectral font unless I put "body h1 {
font-family: 'Spectral', serif;
font-size: 18px;
}
"
This is confusing to me; shouldn't the <h1> inherit the CSS styling of the <body>?
Marius Nicolae
@bytao7mao
Jun 24 2017 13:10
@timsheltime the font-family you have to put not in quotations
or put instead of body, put html { font-family: ... }

@Rallph , getJson is an asynchronous ajax, and the results of which is only available after the response is send back from the server. To allow for this change your calls as follows;
var url = "https://wind-bow.gomix.me/twitch-api/channels/freecodecamp?callback=?";

var display;
$(document).ready(() => {
  $.getJSON(url, function(data) {
    display = data.display_name;
    console.log(display); // you can safely access the data here
  });
});

hey folks, quick question to the LocalWeatherApp Challenge: I managed to retrieve the JSON from the openweathermap.org page but it seems like I always get the data from "Zagreb - Centar". I was travelling a bit lately and the location has never changed altough the longitude and latitude changes constantly. Do I have to request an access from their page?
I used this link to gain access: http://samples.openweathermap.org/data/2.5/weather?lat=" + position.coords.latitude + "&lon=" + position.coords.longitude + "&appid=b1b15e88fa797225412429c1c50c122a1

@Rallph , rather than putting all your code inside the getJson block, you can instead put the code in a separate function block and call the function. Each function will provide a specific purpose - remember to pass the necessary data to each function that it need to operate on.
.

@UnkyKong It's fairly complicated to use that widget - it has its own API to learn.
You'll need to move your <script> for the widget.js code to the end of your HTML, and an event listener for when the script has loaded (https://dev.twitter.com/web/javascript/events), and then use the createShareButton Factory Function to create the button with the necessary attributes https://dev.twitter.com/web/tweet-button/javascript-create

It's a lot easier to append your tweet to the end of a URL and style your own twitter button. https://twitter.com/intent/tweet?text=hello

Jun 24 2017 21:12
@UnkyKong After you add that data-text attribute to your link, the twitter widget code overwrites it. That's why you have to use their API and add an event listener for when the widget.js code loads.
(if you want to use the widget)
Otherwise, just create a link and update the href value with 'https://twitter.com/intent/tweet?text=' + tweet
The tweet text will need to be percent encoded, by the way. More details on that link here: https://dev.twitter.com/web/tweet-button/web-intent

anyone here ever read Eloquent JS? I've read the first two chapters and tried to work through the first exercise on my own (Loop Through A Triangle), but I was struggling to complete the for loop (I was thinking too hard about it). However, when I saw the simple solution to it, I felt kind of down, in a sense that, why couldn't I figure out this simple solution?
