fa-events-icons-[“loading”|”ready”|”failed”]

This event indicates the status of the icons for the page. While icons are loading you’ll see “fa-events-icons-loading”. After they finish you’ll see “fa-events-icons-ready”. Should the icons fail to load you’ll see “fa-events-icons-failed”.

so i use a mac fan control and that drains battery
bu the internet still flies so i dunno wtf is happening
i tried formatting it, takin to to mac store, i got an ssd for which made abig diffirence but it still overheats without the macfan control

Jul 29 2017 02:36
yea, i got a tube at bestbuy for like 8 or something
that's the biggest problem with macs, so tough to take apart

now that's what i need
Pagnito
@Pagnito
Jul 29 2017 02:39
hehe
yea i still want to tho

if the thermal paste works then im def getting more ram

Pagnito
@Pagnito

Pagnito
@Pagnito
Jul 29 2017 02:43
yea, u can get a nice macbook 2012 even 2015 online for a good price, even better price if u willing to risk going thru craigslist

Pagnito
@Pagnito

Tom
@moT01
Jul 29 2017 02:44

Pagnito
@Pagnito
Jul 29 2017 02:45

@moT01 the newer version have bigger trackpads, im not sure i like that to be honest, i kinda like the keyboard the size it is
it seems they sacraficed like a lil more than half inch if not a whole inch on the keyboard for the trackpad on 2013+ models
Tom

you don't have to add the whole folder anywhere, just copy the bootstrap.css and bootstrap.js files out of it, and paste those into your project folder

Gulsvi
@gulsvi
Jul 29 2017 04:43
@M-C-Haker The textContent method is one way: https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/API/Node/textContent
You also have accessed the quote in your displayQuote() function as quoteArray[quote] you could assign that to a variable and then use the variable to refer to the quote that is currently being displayed

Gulsvi

Jul 29 2017 08:16
yep
Thats what i have up to now
Sorin Ruse
@sorinr
Jul 29 2017 08:19
good. imagine that with every letter you press into the input you can have a set of results from the api. the more you type in the better is the response from the api. closer to what u want to search. its kinda an autocomplete lets say
Luis Graterol
@luisgraterol
Jul 29 2017 08:20
Isnt that what i already have?
Darth Skywalker
@AdiSkywalker
Jul 29 2017 08:20
@sorinr autocomplete widget does have delay (kinda like Angular's ngModel debounce option)
that can be used to avoid repeated api calls
@luisgraterol You are using autocomplete widget but you're not really using it :laughing:
your behaviour is same as normal text box input handling.
Sorin Ruse
@sorinr
Jul 29 2017 08:22
@AdiSkywalker you can add delay to the keyup event
Darth Skywalker
@AdiSkywalker

@sorinr Yes, you definitely can. However, I have no clue how well it will work in conjunction with autocomplete
Sorin Ruse
@sorinr
Jul 29 2017 08:24
its not an autocomplete. i made this similarity in the sense that with every letter you add to the input you have a new dataset as a response more refined to what u looking for
Luis Graterol
@luisgraterol
Jul 29 2017 08:26
Ok i understand

ok folks help me out understanding what am i trying to achieve xD
i have these quotes container
and on click i change it s html
i was thinking it would be good to see the quotes slowly fade away, and then make the new one appear
i made the css animation keyframe
.fade {
  animation: fading 2s;
}

@keyframes fading{
  0%{opacity:0}
  100%{opacity:1}
}
now, i'm having trouble figure out how to make it work properly
the first step should be
use js to make the container fade out ( the old quotes) on click
fade out it s like running the fading keyframe reverse

minor problem with style
i have the container for the quote and the artist which has a heght 100%
this allow the icon container to stick bottom
however, if theres too much text, it is gonna overlay
(to test it just change the html content of the paragraph)
my goal is to have a footer that sticks where it is now, but, in case the text needs more space, it should just go down
in other words, should act without the height property
but removing it would pull it to the center of the screen when there are quotes with a singl line for example
and i don't like it

Hello guys! Hope you're doing well! I have a small problem with my portfolio website.
I want to put my header inside the box and then create a nice white background, but there seems to be something that I don't understand, when I put the <h1> inside a <div> and add a margin-top it adds a weird white space between the pages (see screenshot http://prntscr.com/g1t8br)

Would appreciate any help!

@michael-klim am i missing something here? you have put margin-top: 20px, in the nice-box class, which gives you the white space?
set to 0 it has no white space?
is that what you mean?

@RKellyd It’s pretty hit or miss - I’d say 1/2 to a 1/3 of the courses, especially the introductory ones, were made with really early iterations of React, so a lot of the syntax and methodology is pretty outdated. I also found that they’re better to watch once you know React a bit, as even the introductory courses are a bit spotty / go too quickly / don’t focus enough time on the right elements. The higher-level/advanced courses are really thorough though, I’d recommend those, and they tend to be more recent so up-to-date syntax/feature-wise.

@mtphil @RKellyd YES the last link i shared is definitely outdated, but I think its intersting that the tutorial showed a comparison between understanding react and jquery implementation

However he could have done a better job to make the tutorial readable and created a layout that will allow for an easier understanding of both tutorials between the javascript libraries :ok_hand: :yum:

Pretty much any of the courses on JS in general by Cory House are great; I was thinking specifically of his course “Building Applications with React and Redux in ES6” which isn’t really at the intro level but does sort of build incrementally up from relatively basic foundations. He has a slightly outdated course that sort of intros into that one, “Building Applications with React and Flux” (you can see why I say outdated, ha). I haven’t watched his latest one (from last month) “Creating Reusable React Components” but based on what I’ve watched of him so far, I expect it to be quite great (his “Building a Javascript Development Environment” I think should be required watching for any dev working in JS - it masterfully simplifies the insane complexity and super-fast developing JS ecosystem so much that even a relatively newbie can get a handle on and learn to use different stuff like task runners, Babel, Webpack, etc effectively).

Ken Haduch
@khaduch
Jul 29 2017 21:19

@AzFalconer - just a quick experimental table (using real HTML <table> settings) and this CSS:

table, th, tr, td {
  border-collapse: collapse;
}
tr{
  background-color:black;
  color:white;
}
td {
  padding: 10px;
}

Seems to put no borders on the table on either Opera or Chrome (on windows...)

I think that it's the border-collapse: collapse; setting that makes the difference of showing the borders or not, but it affects the display on Chrome and Opera equally. Haven't tried it on FireFox?

@diego4serve - I just reloaded it, and I see that the transfers are now happening... I'm a react newbie, but let me see if I can help you?

@diego4serve - it seems that data that is returned is not getting saved into the state? I don't really remember how this works, I've been through the React lessons a couple times but it was a while ago. I have to go and review the section on how to maintain state...

@lfvpCO - are you familiar with flexbox? It's one way to do it. You can also just probably nest it inside a <div> element and play with it? Are you creating the button on the fly, using JS or just adding it in HTML?

Opinions on my tribute page? I used bootstrap v4 framework and made it fully responsive. https://codepen.io/liamdocherty1/pen/GvpJrE
