Why does it not make a difference if I write this:

str = str.slice(0, num).slice(0, num-3) + '...';

like this:

str = str.slice(0, num-1).slice(0, num-3) + '...';

?

i think it's cause the part that matters gets cut off @3gimpfingers
i haven't a slice on a slice like that before
so im thinking
arr = [0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8]
num = 5;
arr.slice(0, 4) = [0,1,2,3,4]
.slice(0, 2) = [0,1,2]
it would change that first slice by 1 digit, but you don't print it out or anything so you don't see it

I need help in making my match 3 game. I'm trying to swap two selected tiles that the user clicks on. So far I'm able to do it in the console, but I'm having trouble figuring out how to do it on the actual canvas. What I've done so far is use clearRect when the swap_container is equal to 2, but it always only clears the tile image at (0,0), no matter which two tiles the user clicks on (I want it to clear the first tile that the user clicked on once the user has clicked on two adjacent tiles)

text-transform: uppercase;
font-weight: 500;
font-size: 1rem;
cursor: pointer;

@sorinr with regards the paragraphs font-size, I used 1rem, if I set hight that this i look large when I view in my window laptop... by the way I'm coding in a Macbook laptop... I can use eg. 1.3rem to make it large but it will look to large on my windows lap.. any advice?
Sorin Ruse
@sorinr
Oct 14 2017 09:17
@AmitP88 first make it show some border around the selected tiles(for debugging purpose) to see whats happening in there

@AmitP88 you have someway to determine which object on canvas was clicked on. i have tried and clicked between two intersection points of the grid and the first this img dissapers from the board
Amit Patel
@AmitP88
Oct 14 2017 09:44
@sorinr yes, that img is the one located at point 0,0 correct?

Oct 14 2017 09:45
@AmitP88 yep
Amit Patel
@AmitP88
Oct 14 2017 09:46
what I'm trying to do is make it so that the first cell the user clicks on (after he has clicked on 2 cells) disappears from the board, which ever cell that is
so for example, if I clicked on cells located at 0,5 & 0,6, the cell img at 0,5 should disappear
and cell 0,5 would be the firstCell and 0,6 would be secondCell
or swap_container[0] and swap_container[1] respectively

Sorin Ruse
@sorinr
Oct 14 2017 10:06
@ingundela this code below should solve the problem:
nav ul li a:focus, nav ul li a:visited {
    outline: none;
    color: #cccccc;
    text-decoration: none;
    text-transform: uppercase;
    font-weight: 500;
    font-size: 0.9375rem;
    cursor: pointer;
    position: relative;
    padding-bottom: 8px;
    -webkit-transition: all .5s ease;
    -moz-transition: all .5s ease;
    -ms-transition: all .5s ease;
    transition: all .5s ease;
}

@sorinr actually it solve in a way but become something strange on hover and click..
@sorinr even the menu now as a blue color...
@sorinr and my a hover effect is totally different.. is it because the focus, nav ul li a:visited?

@SL0TR - the weather app looks good. One thing that I notice is that it has the "It's Morning" on the top of the screen, but it's afternoon where I am. I also like to see the wind speed change to "mi/h" when changing to Fahrenheit. That's a minor thing. Also, I initially looked at it on the phone and it's not responsive, at least not on a portrait mode screen. (But that could also be due to running it through CodePen, which seems to have issues with mobile phone browsers.) But it's really nice looking.
I just looked at the code, you have a var b; and that is what you are testing for your "Morning" "Afternoon", etc., but you aren't setting a value in it before your conditional testing code.

I also noticed that if I shrink the viewport window down to see more of the code window, the text content gets squeezed together in the vertical direction, which might be similar to the responsive problems.

Looking at it further, that's due to using percentages for different elements - heights make it proportional to the screen height, so on a smaller vertical size, they will be compressed to fill the space, but results in overlapping text.

I need help, I have no clue how to stop the iteration of "filter" after the iteration turns true

'''
function dropElements(arr, func) {
// Drop them elements.
return arr.filter(func);
}

dropElements([1, 2, 3, 4], function(n) {return n >= 3;});
'''

:bulb: to format code use backticks! ``` more info

and when I use "shift" it only returns the first element that was removed, which is not going to work if "arr" has more than 1 element that ought to be removed

Anybody here? Why is this an infinite loop?:

function chunkArrayInGroups(arr, size) {
  arrLength = arr.length;
  newArr = [];

  for ( i = 0; i < arrLength; i + size) {
    segment = arr.slice(i, i + size + 1);
    newArr.push(segment);
  }
  // Break it up.
  return newArr;
}

The segment=arr.sli... line is supposedly the culprit.

@3gimpfingers i + size doesn't change i

How do I change it then, but "size" increments?

i += size or i = i + size
