@salwame The float: left for the img is causing that section to be basically empty.
If you inspect you will see that the img's are covering the #quote section
@salwame If you add clear: both to the #quote style it might what you want.

So I got a question, or a challenge.
Can someone give me a justification as to why you would choose Grid over Flexbox, ever...
Because I have been researching grid quite a bit and I cannot find a single usecase where I would not prefer to use flexbox.
VaseJS
@VaseJS
Mar 17 2018 02:23
@DarkxPunk it seems you don’t understand the use of Grid and its relationship to flex box. its not an either or, its together.
so the concept of G v F is flawed as its G & F
Grid is superior in layout over flex because its 2 dimentional while flex is superior in handling content in a 1 dimentional way
Flex is very powerful, but it is not Grid. Grid is only for layout while flex can do it, flex shines with dealing with content

  • when I right click a menu opens with checkbox in that.
  • when I slect check box particular column should show and others should disappear.
  • I targeted using data attribute but its not working.
  • later I should save the prefrences when I select add/edit prefrence
  • this prefrence should reflect in the drop down menu.

I have a question. I am doing the twitch api app. I notice that the ordering of the twitches changes on reloading the page. I guess I was assuming the forEach would run through the array from start to finish and that is how the list would be ordered. Functionally, for this simple app, it doesn't really seem to impact functionality, but I was just wondering what it is about how scripts run that would do this. This is my app on github pages: https://geoffrymichael.github.io/twitch-status/. And this is the code: https://github.com/geoffrymichael/twitch-status.

@thodorisanta - because your HTML markup is wrong
an id is unique and can only be single unlike classes which can be multiple.
You've written both b and signupbtn in id , that's why the css isn't applied
remove signupbtn from id

@DarkxPunk Think of grids when working with containers and flex with content. Flex shines when working with either vertical or horizontal content. it starts to break down when you need to work in both at the same time. Putting both grid and flex solves many of the problems that current css frameworks try to address but natively.

and this is JS

jQuery("ul.ui-autocomplete").on("keypress click","li.ui-menu-item", function(e){
     if (e.which === 13 || e.type === 'click') {

does anyone know how to properly use and compile SCSS in visual studio code? I've been trying, copying the exact docs for task build from the visual studio website, using stackvoerflow answers, nothing works.
Anker

Mar 17 2018 19:30
@knight2 when you save it, it compiles
knight2
@knight2
Mar 17 2018 19:31
@ankerpeet no it doesn't
You need to have the build configuration done properly for that to happen.
I am asking for specific instructions on how to configure VSC to allow that to happen
visual studio code website step 1. install Sass with node-sass from node.js module
npm install -g node-sass less
Step 2: Create a simple Sass or Less file#
Step 3: Create tasks.json#
The next step is to set up the task configuration. To do this, run Tasks > Configure Tasks and click Create tasks.json file from templates. In the selection dialog that shows up, select Others.
This is the step i am stuck on
they have you use this code for tasks.json file
// Sass configuration
{
    // See https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=733558
    // for the documentation about the tasks.json format
    "version": "2.0.0",
    "tasks": [
        {
            "label": "Sass Compile",
            "type": "shell",
            "command": "node-sass styles.scss styles.css",
            "group": "build"
        }
    ]
}
however, if I compile my SCSS file using this build, console throws an error

@ankerpeet appreciate it. I've been exporting all my previous projects from codepen, and codepen exports it properly, compiling the babel code and the SCSS code into their respective .js and .css files, but I can't use scss or babel in visual studio code without configuring it, and following the official documentation has resulted in the above error

it looks like that's what all of mine have been and they auto compile on save
knight2
@knight2
Mar 17 2018 19:42
what do you mean?
there are no project options in visual studio code that I can see
and even if you are doing some premade project, it should have the tasks.json file with the information in it for compiling babel and for compiling SCSS (if you are using scss)
which I would be able to see and copy :P

@sjames1958gm the problem is cel 1,1 is clearly dead
but it will be alive on the new generation
what's my way around my new generation assignment being assigned to the current generation

@CyberPutty When you change nextGeneration[row][col]= "D"; you are also changing currentGeneration[row][col]= "D";

@sjames1958gm I figured that was happening but what do i do about it. haha?
Stephen James
@sjames1958gm
Mar 17 2018 20:42
@CyberPutty As you move to each new row
nextGeneration[row] = currentGeneration[row].slice()

@sjames1958gm so the arrays will be copied but the values wont be references?
Stephen James
@sjames1958gm
Mar 17 2018 20:44
@CyberPutty The values in nextGeneration[row][col] are strings, so those are ok
Michael Cordero
@CyberPutty
Mar 17 2018 20:44
since its an array of arrays then its just referencing array
I think i get it
@sjames1958gm thanks Ill try that

An output directory must be specified when compiling a directory
The terminal process terminated with exit code: 1

@knight2 that error tells me it thinks the input is a directory

Anyone help with a really simple issue. I am working on a larger site, but simple inline isn't working. I've copied it to codepen if someone can take a look: https://codepen.io/therighttwo/pen/XEjGGo

the display flex needs to be on the wrapper div
in this case
.klaviyo_field_group
and the other content you want to stay on the same line needs to be inside that div

where should you put the var setInterval so you can have access to it to clearInterval(var) in a separate function in react? I could do if else and run it in the same function, with 2 buttons pointing to the same function but seems like there would be a nicer way.

@ankerpeet Thanks for the Input, the issue that still exists with the checked varient is the fact that you need to define each tag which is what I hate.

hmm ... yeah i was trying to see if there was a way to just make a new page in dev tools, but it looks like you can only double click html to edit it instead of writing new lines

no @JoEeeezy_twitter but you can right click and copy selector, or edit as plain HTML and paste etc.
