@moigithub hey thanks for the suggestion. I did try that but the problem is that it doesnt make a straight line. so it will skip 10 and then make another point, basically creating a dashed line.

    performSearch () {
      console.log('pre-debounce')
      _.debounce((e) => {
        console.log('intra-debounce')
        axios.get('https://www.googleapis.com/youtube/v3/search?maxResults=9&part=snippet&q=' + this.query + '&key=' + process.env.YOUTUBE_API_KEY)
        .then((response) => {
          this.searchResults = response.data.items
          console.log(this.searchResults)
        })
        .catch(function (error) {
          console.log(error)
        })
      }, 666)
      console.log('post-debounce')
    }
any guru that enlightens me why I can't make the "intra-debounce" part work on keyup on my input text v-model?
without the debounce it works just fine

hello
Mel Macaluso
@MelMacaluso
Apr 15 2018 02:02
I converted it to:
    performSearch:
      _.debounce((e) => {
        axios.get('https://www.googleapis.com/youtube/v3/search?maxResults=9&part=snippet&q=' + this.query + '&key=' + process.env.YOUTUBE_API_KEY)
        .then((response) => {
          this.searchResults = response.data.items
          console.log(this.searchResults)
        })
        .catch(function (error) {
          console.log(error)
        })
      }, 666)
it now debounces and returns the console.log of the response but doesn't display the results in the page :joy:
also it stays a mistery to me why I had to convert it like that to make it work
how old this kind of styling layout?

Can I pick someone's brain about eventListeners and the component lifecycle? Let's say I have a ZoomImage component that wraps an image and zooms onclick, then when the user scrolls, its unzooms (like Medium's image zoom). Would it make sense to place the event listeners in componentDidUpdate and then add/remove them based on the zoom state? I'm wondering because the scroll listener only matters when the image is zoomed and it seems like it's unnecessary to be firing the scroll listener at other times.

@zootechdrum - it looks like it's working pretty well? At least on my phone. The only thing is that it's not fitting on the screen too well, I have to pan around to see everything? I just want to try this fork with an additional setting. You have to try the "Debug View" on mobile, without the codepen interface. I went in to the HTML tab and added the "Most common viewport metatag" (they have a link at the bottom of the HTML settings config box). I would say that the biggest problem is that the image is too big on mobile, and perhaps the text is a bit too large, or larger than it needs to be?

@Ramoncarden make an array of points... push all ur "x,y movements" there
then on drawline iterate the array and draw the canvas based on those coordinates...
u need to draw a polygon (multiple points) for a single open/close path
  context.beginPath();
  context.moveTo(375 + puntos[0].horizontal, 205 + puntos[0].vertical);
  for (let i=1 ; i<puntos.length;i++){
    context.lineTo(376 + puntos[i].horizontal, 206 +  puntos[i].vertical);
  }
  context.stroke();
  context.closePath();

seems like they didn't consult the community with regards to whether the forum or the gitter should be used

Tom
@moT01
Apr 15 2018 14:38
i agree @CWelshE
paulsda
@paulsda
Apr 15 2018 14:51
Apparently they did it because they didn’t like that people kept asking the same questions over and over again and that people are able to search the forum for a solution. Also apparently cause the forum is easier to run than Gitter is, which I don’t understand
the reasoning behind
Teo
@todorare
Apr 15 2018 14:52
@paulsda Well, a static forum is probably easier to moderate than a dynamic chat room
paulsda
@paulsda
Apr 15 2018 14:54
not really, Gitter is it’s own entity away from FCC and that takes away a lot of the work involved with the maintenance on a forum site. All that needs to be done is to have a couple of moderators watching the chat and kicking out trolls or whatever
With the forum I’d imagine you’d need maintenace + mods
I don’t know what you mean by the forum being static. It seems relatively used and updated, if a little slow to get responses to some problems
mstellaluna
@mstellaluna

here are some of my issues:
  1. lack of informing the community that the primary channel was even closed
  2. lack of a stated reason to be found anywhere
  3. lack of consultation with community members in any reasonable capacity
  4. separation and alienation of many regular community members
  5. leaving everyone to "figure it out" on their own
honestly, I would feel the same as I do right now if FCC suddenly became "$20/mo. Code Camp" suddenly
Tom
@moT01
Apr 15 2018 15:05
i have a guess for the push to use the forum, i may be way off but... as @paulsda said, gitter is it's own entity - not sure how much info can be gathered from it - for instance, how many people are signed up/using the chat rooms - so fcc can't say "we have x amount of people signed up in the gitter rooms"(i may be wrong and maybe that info can be found) - the forum on the other hand, statistics can be gathered - you can say definitively how many people/posts etc. you have - how well it's doing - if fcc were to be sold or want to run ads or something its their asset (i doubt that would happen)
just a guess
paulsda
@paulsda

I am working with AdminLTE and bootstrap atm and I do have just 2 small problems I'll send a snippet and a screenshot
<section class="content container-fluid">
    <div class="row">
        <div class="col-md-8">
            <div class="box">
                <div class="box-header">
                    <h3 class="box-title"><small>Showing: <b>{{count($measurementUnits)}} Units</b></small></h3>

                    <div class="box-tools">
                        <div class="input-group input-group-sm searchInput">
                            <input type="text" name="table_search" class="form-control pull-right" placeholder="Search" id="search" onkeyup="search()">

                            <div class="input-group-btn">
                                <button type="submit" class="btn btn-default"><i class="fa fa-search"></i></button>
                            </div>
                        </div>
                    </div>

                </div>
image.png
and here is the result
Now I have 2 small issues . 1) I need to move the entire column to the middle to be centered ...I tried the bootstrap offset classes and justify content also didn't work
Ahmed Al-Gallad
@A-Gallad
Apr 15 2018 15:48
2) that search box is a pain and its really weird because I figured if I increase the number of 'tds' it gets in the right place ....Like if I add (name, short_name, shorter_name, shortest_name) the search box will then adjust to its correct place
any help would be really appreciated :smile:

@brittanyrutherford Ok, I think you're a bit confused regarding flexbox
Which is ok, because I'm confused too :D
So, you have a flex container (parent element) and then its children are behaving as flex items
In your case, you can add the property justify-content: space-between; to the .header .footer selectors and you get the result you want
So, the end result is this
.header, .footer{
height: 40px;
line-height: 40px;
font-weight: bold;
padding: 0px 10px;
display: flex;
background-color: #F1F1F1;
color: #333;
box-sizing: border-box;
flex: 0 0;
justify-content: space-between;
}

You'll have to provide a little more information about the code

@Fonterismo
Apr 15 2018 23:40
this is my code
i was trying to figure out to do the sizing part of it
void setup()
{
  size(500,500);

  for(int yCounter = 40; yCounter <= 500; yCounter *= 2.1)
  {
    drawStickMan(50, yCounter, 0);
    for(int xCounter = 50; xCounter <= 450; xCounter += 50)
    {
      drawStickMan(xCounter, yCounter, 0);
    }
  }
}

void drawStickMan(float xPosition, float yPosition, int size)
{
  ellipse(xPosition, yPosition, 10, 10); //head
  line(xPosition, yPosition + 5, xPosition, yPosition + 20); //body
  line(xPosition - 7, yPosition +12, xPosition + 7, yPosition + 12); //arms
  line(xPosition, yPosition + 20, xPosition - 5, yPosition + 30); //left leg
  line(xPosition, yPosition + 20, xPosition + 5, yPosition + 30); //right leg
}

what ellipse(xPosition, yPosition, 10, 10); //head 10,10 means ?
Fonterismo
@Fonterismo
Apr 15 2018 23:43
draws the head of stickman
Moisés Man
@moigithub
Apr 15 2018 23:43
but why 10,10 ??
and not 20,20 ? or any other number values
Teo
@todorare
Apr 15 2018 23:44
I think that's the diameter

xPosition and Yposition are the coordinates of the cursor

@Fonterismo Since the last two parameters of ellipse are the two foci, you can use the size to adjust the size of the head
Assuming you adjust the size parameter for each row
Teo
@todorare
Apr 15 2018 23:46
Processing? Ah ok
Basically all the hardcoded numbers in the drawStickMan are affecting the size of each stick figure
drawStickMan function that is
Fonterismo
@Fonterismo
Apr 15 2018 23:47
no i haven't done anything with size yet
Teo
@todorare
Apr 15 2018 23:47
And the values in the setup function are affecting the position of each figure
Fonterismo
@Fonterismo
Apr 15 2018 23:47
im not sure how to do it
this code outputs whats on the right and i have to make it output whats on the left
Teo
@todorare
Apr 15 2018 23:48
Just start playing with the numbers in the drawStickMan function
The left figure is using 4 different scales
You are using one on the right
Fonterismo
@Fonterismo
Apr 15 2018 23:49
left is the example and right is what i have coded so far, i have to finish it but im not sure how
something with the size variable returning to whats in setup
the function just draws it
Teo
@todorare
Apr 15 2018 23:51
I would imagine you need to change the loop that draws every row
To scale up a bit each time
Fonterismo
@Fonterismo
Apr 15 2018 23:51
yes lol were trying to code it
but idk what to code
Stephen James
@sjames1958gm
Apr 15 2018 23:55
@Fonterismo For the ellipse you'll need to adjust the 10,10 part to get a larger circle.
you could pass in size of 1, 2, 3, 4 and
ellipse(xPosition, yPosition, 10*size, 10*size);
and see what it looks like and experiement
