Neeraj Lad
@neeraj-lad
@noczesc no problem.. :)
Bruce Young
@mutantspore
@neeraj-lad using this fixes it but I’m probably doubling up on some of the bit you have there already
.btn:hover, .btn:focus, .btn:active, .btn.active {
    color: #fff;
}
Neeraj Lad
@neeraj-lad
@mutantspore that works! :D
do you also the gray color when you click for the very first time, after the app is loaded?
Alexei Bazhenov
@Abazhenov
I'm trying to assign a JSON object that I got from an API to a variable to make my life easier, but it seems that no matter what I do it doesn't get assigned, I just can't figure out what I'm doing wrong, can anyone help?
 var postData;

$.getJSON("http://www.freecodecamp.com/news/hot", function(json) {

  postData = JSON.stringify(json);

});
console.log(postData);
Bruce Young
@mutantspore
@Abazhenov it wil get assigned. put the console.log(postData); inside the getjson and you’ll see it
it’s because it’s an asynchronous process
Alexei Bazhenov
@Abazhenov
@mutantspore does that mean that I need to write any code that uses the new value of the postData inside of that function as well?
Bruce Young
@mutantspore
yes.. you can make it nicer by writing the code outside in a function of it’s own but then calling that from within teh getjson.
Alexei Bazhenov
@Abazhenov
@mutantspore gotcha, thank you!

@mutantspore
there is one otehr thing called “promises” but I think you should start here
Alexei Bazhenov
@Abazhenov
Awesome, thanks again :)

@stormgrass
I'm just wondering, am I the only one going crazy over the Pomodoro Clock Zipline? I've rewritten the whole thing three times now and always run into little snags.
Neeraj Lad
@neeraj-lad
@mutantspore thanks again!

:warning: neeraj-lad already gave mutantspore points
Bruce Young
@mutantspore
@stormgrass hahah no … not the only one… we have a ward full of those who couldn’t cope
Richard
@stormgrass
@mutantspore Ah, I'm glad. Do get me a cot ready in that ward, because I'm about ready to move in.
Maciej Bembenista
@macbem
guys?
random quote machine based on wikiquote API
good idea or not good at all?
I'm too lazy to copy/paste quotes myself
Richard
@stormgrass
if you know how to use an API, I don't see why not
Bruce Young
@mutantspore
@noczesc i think i hav eseen one person try it .. and give up
Richard
@stormgrass
I was too lazy to figure it out, so I wrote my own quotes
It's not like you need a hundred in there, just enough to check the functionality
Maciej Bembenista
@macbem
@stormgrass I don't... yet :D
Richard
@stormgrass
well, if you feel like figuring it out, go for it. Just don't get too frustrated if it doesn't work out.
Maciej Bembenista
@macbem
Well, setting up a random quote machine (without twitter api yet) took me ~10 minutes, but I'm too lazy to type in the quotes and I want to try something new
i think that I'll just go for it
Bruce Young
@mutantspore
@noczesc the wikipedia api is hard. The quotes project doesn’t require an api but if you jump ahead there is a small section on apis in the FCC lessons (not that good though)
Maciej Bembenista
@macbem
i could also use quotesondesign.com api
seems to be a lot easier
Richard
@stormgrass
@mutantspore are you referring to the json thing with the cats? That wasn't too thorough, was it?
Bruce Young
@mutantspore
@noczesc maybe try this api then. it was once suggested in teh quotes zipLine instructions
http://forismatic.com/en/api/
@stormgrass can’t even remember what was in it but I do remember that it “needs work” lol
Richard
@stormgrass
@mutantspore haha, yeah.
Maciej Bembenista
@macbem
done :)
http://codepen.io/noczesc/pen/bEQMoM triggered by clicking on the title for now, I'll have to add twitter api and a 'rand' button
Bruce Young
@mutantspore
@noczesc does it do more than one or is that just a quote of the day service?
Maciej Bembenista
@macbem
I don't understand your question
are you talking about the provider or about my app?
Bruce Young
@mutantspore
ok wel i click the title to get a quote.. one quote.. then i click again.. nothing happens
or it’s teh same quote again
Maciej Bembenista
@macbem
strange, it works on my pc
Bruce Young
@mutantspore
ok well i logged the click to console and yes it’s teh same quote each time
Maciej Bembenista
@macbem
I'll have to do some tests later
Jan Pribošek
@GreatDanton
Hi, I finished tic tac toe game, but I need some help. If I click on the new game button, I am getting XX or OO placed in the button instead of one (X or O), [with each turn there is aditional X or O]
