@jondcoleman
@andrewchar can you save the pen with that method so I can take a look?
Andrew Charlebois
@andrewchar
@jondcoleman pens been auto saving as ive been trying things. you can look now to see
Jonathan Coleman
@jondcoleman
@noczesc I can't get a quote to even show up - have you saved your changes?
@andrewchar you put the icons in a bootstrap grid?
Maciej Bembenista
@macbem
@jondcoleman yup, saved. It changes my quotes to ’
Jonathan Coleman
@jondcoleman
when I click Random quote nothing happens @noczesc
Andrew Charlebois
@andrewchar
@jondcoleman i tried putting that in the ul class
Jonathan Coleman
@jondcoleman
@andrewchar they probably need to be divs to do that
another option is to add this css:
.nav li {
    float: left;
}
that will force them to stay the same orientation even when screen resizes
if you do that you might add a bit of padding on the ul and maybe an additional class on those lis to differentiate them from any other navbar you end up adding
e.g.
.nav .footer-icons li {
    float: left;
}
blob
@noczesc I get this error ^
you'll need to use JSONP or find an api that doesn't have the CORS restriction @noczesc

@coderNoob Somewhat belatedly - Depth is how far down the search chain you are. On a board with one mark placed there are those 8 possible moves. That's depth 1. On any one of those moves there are 7 possible moves, that's depth 2. On any one of THOSE moves there are 6 possible moves, that's depth 3, and so on. It goes down to depth 8, I guess, where the board is full.

@batman137

Jonathan Coleman
@jondcoleman
@batman137 can you share the pen link?
Jonathan Coleman
@jondcoleman
so you want it to be the same height and width as the window ?
batman137
@batman137
yes
Jonathan Coleman
@jondcoleman
#1 you have height misspelled :)
#2 you can use this height: 100vh;
Andrew Charlebois
@andrewchar
@jondcoleman thanks the float worked

vh stands for viewport height @batman137
Sam Reeves
@smreeves
Hey folks! Quick question. Working on Calculator program and one part I want to do is for my "screen" I have an input field set to align right, so that way my numbers and what-not start on the right of the field and push left as I add more to it. I've decided that I'm going to have the string be shown like in the example on the Zipline, but both my calculator and theirs has the issue that if too much of the string is there to go beyond, it suddenly hard-stops at the left side then you can't see the new stuff you put into it. Anyway I can keep it "flowing" and having the left-side disappear instead of the right-side?
Jonathan Coleman
@jondcoleman
@batman137 note that vh may not be supported on some older browsers: http://caniuse.com/#feat=viewport-units
@sreeves89 please share pen link

@jondcoleman
@batman137 also jumbotron defaults to 100% width so you don't need that property
batman137
@batman137
it worked

@smreeves
(Note, only regular operations, parentheses, the period, changing from + to - work right now).

@HermanFassett
Woah looks nice @sreeves89
Sam Reeves
@smreeves
Thanks @HermanFassett ! My goal was to use this project to show that I think I've got design figured out, (even if I have to use a "specification," i.e. the real TI-30XA calculator to follow), and to also show I can do some of the more advance stuff. In the end I probably wont' implement everything on there, but the goal is to get most of it running, then I'll remove what I won't end up implementing.

@smreeves
So does anyone have any ideas so I can have it spill off the left-side rather than doing a hard-stop on the left side?
Robert Uivarosi
@URobert
@sreeves89 hi. I just took a look, you basically want to be able to use more characters than what can be displayed at one time on the screen ?
Sam Reeves
@smreeves
Yes. Since I am going to put in support for things like sin, cos and what-not, I'd want to be able to let the user keep going, but I think it would be more design friendly if they could see the most recent things they entered, and let the "old" (i.e. stuff on the left) flow out of the display.
The only thing I can think of is to truncate when we hit a certain string length, but not sure how design friendly that will be with different screen sizes. And not only that but since each character takes up slightly different sizes, getting it to truncate exactly may or may not be a nightmare.
Robert Uivarosi
@URobert
@sreeves89 to be honest I'm not sure how you can do that, look into overflow:hidden and overflow:scroll
@sreeves89 that might help. Sorry I can't give you much else
@sreeves89 I haven't tried to use it with inputs so I'm not sure how the two will interact
