seems like when it finishes it stays looking like it is pressed. Which would probably mean that you are not putting it in an up looking state before moving to the next color (or the same color)

Hi, this is what I have for the mutations algorithm. Am I on the right track?
//mutations attempt
function mutation(arr) {
  var splitArr = [];
  for (var i = 0; i < arr.length; i++){
    splitArr.push(arr[i].toLowerCase().split(""));
  }
  console.log(splitArr);

var jIter = 0;
//named so because in the next for loop j will be the iterant because i has already been used. j will be iterated and results will go into the variable to be used in a conditional statement
for (var j = 0; j > arr[1].length; j++){
    if (splitArr[1].indexOf(splitArr[0]) >= 0){
        jIter = jIter + 1;
        console.log(jIter);
    }

  }

  if (jIter >= arr) {
    return true;
  } else {
    return false;
  }
}

mutation(["Mary", "Army"]);

@matthew3454 - looks like you are missing the curly braces to enclose the body of the function for your ip-api getJSON call.

@matthew3454 - maybe a couple things- - the initial add of the braces made the error indicator go away, but there was also a problem with the closing paren for the $.getJSON call - I put this code in place:

  $.getJSON("http://ip-api.com/json",
    function(data2) {
      lat = data2.lat;
      long = data2.lon;
      console.log(long);
    });

I hope that helps?

@matthew3454 - also noticed a typo in 'backgroun-image', I think?
Still more, t he closing brace and paren for the ready function blocks out the var long and var lat from being able to access it in the var api = code... just a couple more things, after I went back and looked at the console.

Hey y'all, I'm getting started on my random quote generator. I wanted to start by using the code from one of free code camp's challenges just to see how it works. I tried to just get the raw output from the cat photo api to show up as my quote to start, but I can't even get that to work for some reason. A little help? https://codepen.io/queennectarine/pen/wWMrVv

@queennectarine - helllo there - it looks like you are running into a cross-origin request problem, in other words, the site is not set up to allow cross-origin requests. You can solve part of the problem by using JSONP - just change your URL to this:

var url = "https://www.freecodecamp.com/json/cats.json?callback=?";

That seems to solve the cross-origin problem and you will get a return. It still isn't displaying in the browser - I'm going to poke at that next.

Ken Haduch
@khaduch
@queennectarine - I'm not sure - it just might be set up to handle JSONP requests properly - it looks like a return is being made, but it is not triggering the callback function? I'm not sure how to proceed with that - perhaps trying a different site? I changed the url to a different site and using JSONP, it returned a usable data object and triggered the callback.

The Agile Manifesto

For Agile Software Development

Agile development was written in 2001 by a group of 17 software experts that included the creators of Scrum Extreme Programming (XP), Dynamic Systems Development Method (DSDM), and Crystal; a representative of feature-driven development; and several other thought leaders in the software industry. The Agile Manifesto established a common set of overarching values and principles for all of the individual agile methodologies at the time. This is that manifesto.

@queennectarine - this is something that I picked up a while ago by googling and kept a note on it - there is a site that you can use to handle these types of transfers, a proxy site that handles jsonp transfers (I don't know the technical details, sorry that I cannot explain it!) I just got it working with the cats.json site that you were trying to use - this is the URL -

var url = "https://jsonp.afeld.me/?callback=?&url=https://www.freecodecamp.com/json/cats.json";

using that, it now dumps the raw JSON data into your browser panel of CodePen.

you can substitute other URLs into that request in place of the freecodecamp.com one that you are using for an example.

@matthew3454 - there were several errors in there - I forked your pen and ended up with a version that is working - I'll put the link here: forked weather site - I had to fix a couple things, added a couple console.log statements, etc. You can look at that and see what I did.

@bharris62 - have you given http://regexone.com/ a try? I think that it was a really nice introduction to the topic - starting with the real basics. It might give you a good intro, if you've been totally lost with it? If you have specific questions - like something that you are trying (or have tried) - ask away! But I would recommend http://regexone.com/

@bharris62 - it is a lot of reading along with examples, and they have the solutions for each one on the bottom of the page, so you don't have to be stumped. I think that whoever put that together did a really nice job.
