basic html and css is enough for portfolio once u learn more.. u can always go back and modify
anyone want to help me out with some React?
thanks that helps
for the random quote machine project, is it intended that you host your quotes somewhere, set-up a JSON API, and then somehow call it with jQuery from codepen?
@marcvesper I have seen people make it two ways. 1-Make an array of quotes and randomly select a quote from your own list. 2-Find a service that provides an API to quotes. So I think you can do it however you want. They aren't very specific in the rules, so I think anything goes.
I've got a Bootstrap question. I have a col-md-8 and col-md-4 lined up horizontally. I had text in the left column (8) and a photo in the right (4). Everything was perfect until I tried swapping them (so the photo is on the left. I placed the col-md-4 first then the col-md-8. Now they stack vertically for some reason. Tips on what to check to fix? (Reverting back lays out just fine)
@aidansven It looks like Facebook disabled that...
@karolinaKluz - I don't think that you can control what the users type, you would have to filter it when you are handling the input - for example, in a calculator (I'm guessing here) you would have to check the most recent character entered, and if it was a special character like you are asking about, just toss the next incoming character.
although maybe you were not asking that question for yourself, but for the calculator posted above (which I haven't looked at yet.) Anyway...
@Neotriz - ^^^^ my comment would go to you, I guess... :)
@khaduch Actually I would like to know if it's possible. Filtering user input can be tricky.
@aurberg thanks.. I just read that as well.. bummer :/ haha!
aidansven sends brownie points to @aurberg :sparkles:  :sparkles:
@karolinaKluz - I think that you would have to watch the input and know which characters were being repeated (that shouldn't be accepted) and just discard the newest one, only keep the first, and then maybe even change it, if they entered - and then + - should it be subtraction or addition?
@twoBrokenThumbs - make sure your divs are properly closed. Do you want to post a link to it, we can check?
@Neotriz - I like the look of your calculator, by the way...
well, if anyone has a minute could you take a look at my random quote generator? :D I believe it's done! It's the first project that I can put on my portfolio haha so I want to see if there's any suggestions on what I can improve on it?
On the side the note, I was not aware that JS had a String.eval() . That would made my code so much easier...
@Neotriz - you probably want to check it before you echo the character to the output - you don't want to have ----- in the display, so that would be a better time to check?
yeah that would make more sense rather than the user have to find out later that the input operation was incorrect
Hey everyone. I already submitted my weather app, and I went to go style it but when I clicked on the codepen link to my profile, I got a 404 error. Then I clicked on my pens, and got the same error. I was able to go through recent to find it, but then it didn't work. I havent' changed any of the code that I submitted, and when I submitted it, it was fully functional. Does it work for any of you guys? http://codepen.io/CameronBurkholder/pen/mEegGq
"nothing to show yet"... @Cameron-Burkholder
@aidansven Hi Ethan. Really cool quote generator! I would only change one thing. Can you make the button stay fixed in a place regardless of how many lines a quote has? I think it's better UX if I don't have to chase the button. ;)
the whole page is loading for me, just not the weather
@aidansven - great looking quote app! Some of the lighter colors are a little hard on the eyes, maybe reversing the color setup to put a dark quote box on the light background would help that? But it's not too bad of an effect anyway. Nice work!
@karolinaKluz ah yes..! good point! ;) thank you
