@hiltydiggs
@JackEdwardLyons these are the key, values you're looking to compare:
var testKey = Object.keys(source)[0];
console.log(testKey);
var testValue = source[testKey];
console.log(testValue);
JD Tadlock
@jdtdesigns
@hiltydiggs I believe it's actually Object.keys(source);
Dan Logajan
@hiltydiggs
Object.keys returns an array
JD Tadlock
@jdtdesigns
source is an object
your getting all the keys from the object
it could have multiple

@Doko85
@jdtdesigns do you know how to actually design an icon like the ones in the right chat menu that have a little circle showing the online status? I want to design that inner circle...
Jack Lyons
@JackEdwardLyons
thanks @hiltydiggs

@JackEdwardLyons
ill give it a go !
Dan Logajan
@hiltydiggs
@jdtdesigns you're right. I see how the problem is now.
Jack Lyons
@JackEdwardLyons
am I doing something like this ? @hiltydiggs
for ( var i = 0; i < collection.length; i++ ) {
    if ( collection[i].hasOwnProperty(testValue) ) {
      console.log("test");
      }
    }
Dan Logajan
@hiltydiggs
@JackEdwardLyons use var testKeys = Object.keys(source); as @jdtdesigns said. I'm working through it myself. It's been changed since I did it last.
@JackEdwardLyons sorry. Didn't mean to lead you astray.
Jack Lyons
@JackEdwardLyons
thanks @hiltydiggs -- nah, thanks for the help... I'm really struggling with these problems so i appreciate the communication and feedback more than anything

@jdtdesigns I actually want to use that circle to show a weather icon on the top-right corner of a bigger circle showing the info of wind\pressure\humidity etc
and that little circle shows the wind\pressure\humidity icon
so, I'm now designing the big circles, what property would I use to align that little guy to the top-right corner? vertical align?
Jack Lyons
@JackEdwardLyons
i know this is wrong, but I'm doing something like this @hiltydiggs

function whereAreYou(collection, source) {
  // What's in a name?
  var arr = [];

  var testKey = Object.keys(source)[0];
  console.log(testKey);
  var testValue = source[testKey];
  console.log(testValue);

for ( var i = 0; i < collection.length; i++ ) {
    if ( collection[i].hasOwnProperty(testKey) ) {
      arr.push(testKey + ": " + testValue);
      }
    }

  return arr;
}

whereAreYou([{ first: "Romeo", last: "Montague" }, { first: "Mercutio", last: null }, { first: "Tybalt", last: "Capulet" }], { last: "Capulet" });

@jdtdesigns
@Doko85 I don't really know what design you're wanting. Do you have an image example of what you're trying to achieve?
Marco Mazzeo
@Doko85
the chat icon here is a square with a little circle showing the online status
what I want is a big circle (the square here) and that little circle on the top right corner
JD Tadlock
@jdtdesigns
Marco Mazzeo
@Doko85
so I create that using <span>?
JD Tadlock
@jdtdesigns
it's not a button and it's not a wrapper so a span is good for that
The big circle will be the wrapper so i made it a div
Marco Mazzeo
@Doko85
I'll try to go with a ul and lis
if that won't work I'll make it be <div>s

Hi I need help on my pen for my portfolio webpage. How do I get my image to resize to fit the screen in my about section? I tried .img-responsive but it doesn't seem to want to work!
JD Tadlock
@jdtdesigns
@Doko85 Ul is specifically for unordered lists of text
in html5 you don't use uls for layout anymore
even though Bootstrap does it
Marco Mazzeo
@Doko85
aren't icons considered text?
JD Tadlock
@jdtdesigns
You're using ul to layout icons(images)
text is written text
the literal use of an unordered list
Bailey
@coder7215
Marco Mazzeo
@Doko85
so you are suggesting me to go with divs
Bailey
@coder7215
I want my image to respond to my second background image (so that it resizes with the screen and stays in that background image) and also so my <p> text stays inside that same div as well (the about div)
JD Tadlock
@jdtdesigns
@Doko85 i'm suggesting using the elements that are related to the proper context
Bailey
@coder7215
Any ideas?
Julie
@jurijuri
Hey y'all! I'm almost done with my random quote generator, but I'm having trouble updating my Twitter button. Can you help? http://codepen.io/jurijuri/pen/ezdxQw
JD Tadlock
@jdtdesigns
@coder7215 I'm not sure what you're wanting to achieve.
Bailey
@coder7215
@jdtdesigns I ideally would like the image to not only stay within the #about div that it is supposed to be in, but also get smaller when the screen gets smaller (resize with the screen). Again, here is my pen: https://codepen.io/coder7215/pen/YWqemv?editors=1100 Does that make sense? :)
Jack Lyons
@JackEdwardLyons
have you tried the class img-responsive? @coder7215
