@JavierVMR paste the link to your codepen, it's shorter and better than a code snippet
Javier von Marées
@JavierVMR
mmm let me see
Suzanne Atkinson
@AdventureBear
@JavierVMR did you include jquery in your codepen in the settings?
Javier von Marées

@AdventureBear
I"m ready to start SIMON! It seems like this is largely a test in CSS positioning, plus the logic of the game. Is that right?
Javier von Marées
@JavierVMR
I put in the fast setups the bootstrap
Suzanne Atkinson
@AdventureBear
go to settings - > javascript -> quick add (at the bottom) and select jquery
Javier von Marées
@JavierVMR

@AdventureBear
:) you're welcome
I try to give a little when I take from the help room here. :)
good luck

@qualitymanifest
@AdventureBear pretty much, yeah. you will likely find yourself using setInterval and/or setTimeout
Martialis39
@Martialis39
@AdventureBear yeah TBH I found the most difficult bit to be how to present the sequence to the player AND THEN listening for the player to input it
@AdventureBear I think Calc and or TicTacToe are most CSS focused since you CAN stray from the original Simon design
Suzanne Atkinson
@AdventureBear
@Martialis39 OK, i've done both of those, so that's good to hear. I have this after a few minutes of tinkering with positioning. CSS positining is NOT a strong point, so these challenges are tedious for me. I like to get the look right first, then the functioning is a little easier.
looks pretty lopsided, lol.
thanks @Martialis39 @qualitymanifest

@AdventureBear
@qualitymanifest I like your portfolio project. Where did you learn the style from for the parallax?
DJ
@qualitymanifest
@AdventureBear that's funny, i really don't like my portfolio, just threw it together to finish the front end cert. i don't think it's a "true" parallax, since the background doesn't move at all. but i think the main things for that effect were setting up the background images to cover their divs, and giving each of the main divs (home, about, portfolio, etc) min-height: 100vh;
@AdventureBear anyway, thanks :wink2:

Can someone help me with placeholder notifcation if the user does not exist?
I'm assuming i need to add another if statement?
or else
Martialis39
@Martialis39
tbh I didnt even bother with that
but thinking about
it
dont you get an error if it doesnt exist?
then you should be able to handle it in the request itself
Lemmy
@imnotlammy
User Story: I will see a placeholder notification if a streamer has closed their Twitch account (or the account never existed). You can verify this works by adding brunofin and comster404 to your array of Twitch streamers.

        if (data.status !== 404) {
          var description = data.status;
        }
        else {
          var description = "user not found";
        }
This is what I tried, but doesnt seem to work @pzoladkiewicz
