@grantknaver
@vinaypuppal im not seeing the 160px
Im looking but to no avail
vínαч puppαl
@vinaypuppal
@grantknaver let me show you
grantknaver
@grantknaver
I can see the font size and everything else but the the approx width is missing
vínαч puppαl
@vinaypuppal
blob
grantknaver
@grantknaver
gotcha
vínαч puppαl
@vinaypuppal
@grantknaver its around 138px exactly as you see in Box Model tab
grantknaver
@grantknaver
but 168 with margin and everything included
vínαч puppαl
@vinaypuppal
@grantknaver yes exactly so you can use 168px instead of 160px
grantknaver
@grantknaver
gotcha
grantknaver
@grantknaver
@vinaypuppal OK I am starting to understand the centering aspect, but the brand refuses to center the suggestion you had centered the rest of the nav, but not the brand.
vínαч puppαl
@vinaypuppal
Oh you want to center brand also
grantknaver
@grantknaver
ya lol
hahaha.
I was like... what am I missing lol
The real goal was to center the brand and the nav at monitor size, and the brand at mobile size
vínαч puppαl
@vinaypuppal
@grantknaver oh okay i just thought you only want to centre nav links
This would be easy i think, let me check css
grantknaver
@grantknaver
Thx
vínαч puppαl
@vinaypuppal

@grantknaver remove previous CSS i suggested and add this

 .navbar .container-fluid{
    width: calc(100% - 520px);
    margin: 0 auto;
  }

but you need to tweak width as screen size decreases

grantknaver
@grantknaver
k thanks
@vinaypuppal thank you. You are AWESOME!

@vinaypuppal
@grantknaver i think these media queries may be useful if you need to tweak width
@media(max-width: 1020px){
  .navbar .container-fluid{
    width: 60%;
    margin: 0 auto;
  }
}

@media(max-width: 800px){
  .navbar .container-fluid{
    width: 80%;
    margin: 0 auto;
  }
}
grantknaver
@grantknaver
what are you subtracts when you sub 520px/
?

@RNwebdk
Can someone tell me why i dont need any parenthesis in the last couple of lines here?
var player1 = {Name: "Freddy", Level: 22, Score: 159753 }
var player2 = {Name: "Philip", Level: 43, Score: 994658 }

function playerDetails(){
    //return player details
    console.log("Player " + this.Name + " is in level " + this.Level + " and have a score of " + this.Score + ". Keep up the good work");
}

// Why can't i use parenthesis on the playerDetails()
player1.playerLog = playerDetails;
player2.playerLog = playerDetails;
player1.playerLog();
player2.playerLog();

I'm talking about the area right here:

player1.playerLog = playerDetails;
player2.playerLog = playerDetails;

why can't i do like this

player1.playerLog = playerDetails();
player2.playerLog = playerDetails();
vínαч puppαl
@vinaypuppal
@grantknaver some random value which centered in my browser screen size that's why i told you tweak width for diff screen sizes. You can also try just width: 50% if you feels its good on large screen and increase width as screen size decreases as i did here
grantknaver
@grantknaver
OK that should work

hey guys, I really need your help. I'm working on my media queries for my site but dev tools is driving me nuts because I got the mobile views to how I wanted them, but then when I revisited my site in mobile view it's messed up, so I dunno if it's right or not: https://amitp88.github.io/New-Portfolio/
I also had everything positioned right for mobile but when I visited my site everything was messed up in tablet view, so ugh, this is so frustrating >.<
vínαч puppαl
@vinaypuppal
After changing to mobile / tablet view refresh browser . Sometimes it won't detect Media query. But I just saw your site in my mobile everything is looking good except sidebar is not closing after I click on link @AmitP88
Amit Patel
@AmitP88
@vinaypuppal ah ok. yeah, I still have to write a function to do that, but for now i'm just trying to get everything to look good across devices (desktop view will be last)

hey everyone, i really hope i'm in the right place. I'm working on building a tribute page, just using html, css, and jQuery here. I cannot figure out how to line up pictures side by side instead of being one beneath the other. -___- https://codepen.io/nancicarmona/full/PGpNmO/

http://quirktools.com/screenfly/ this is good resource for testing on multiple screen sizes which might help you while developing @AmitP88

@N1CKL3
@NanciCarmona You're going to want to use the bootstrap grid system
@NanciCarmona Put them into a row and then you can add columns if you want to space them out
Greg Duncan
@GregatGit
@NanciCarmona when you're using codepen should take full advantage of its layout - put all the the css in the css tab - and if you want to add fonts and style sheets and libraries - that can be done in the settings. But to get your page working best to go through this and get a good handle on it http://www.w3schools.com/bootstrap/default.asp

@N1CKL3
Alright guys, I spent 3 days working on my personal portfolio. Please take a look and tell me what you think. I put my heart and soul into this project. http://codepen.io/n_horn/full/rrjPjb
Greg Duncan
@GregatGit
@N1CKL3 Great start - I would drop the word 'aspiring' and just call yourself 'Front-End Web Developer'
Nicole Horn
@N1CKL3
@GregatGit I was thinking that too, but I didn't feel confident enough. I have only been coding for 9 days now XD
Nanci Carmona
@NanciCarmona
oh thank you @N1CKL3 and @GregatGit not sure what i had done wrong-- i had been trying that!
