Hey guys! I'm starting on my first front-end project, the tribute page. And I'm not sure if it's me or code pen but my image keeps disappearing and it won't make changes to my paragraph when I use p { font-size: blah blah in the CSS section
And also I'm wondering how to center text and images. I was using <center> but code pen keeps saying that it's obsolete grrr
Walid Ashri
@walidashri
@JeffGreenlee42 add the anchor to the div not the section
Tom
@moT01
@Chrissyanity ive used a margin-left: auto margin-right: auto to center horizontally
Chrissy
@Chrissyanity
@JeffGreenlee42 @moT01 Thanks so much! I was super confused lol. Let me try again

Tom
@moT01
theres other methods probly as well
im not sure on your other problems, give a link to the pen if you want help
Jeff Greenlee
@JeffGreenlee42
@Chrissyanity The problem I am having is with references to Divs, Not the sections
When the Navbar opens the referred to div class... it opens in the middle of the page instead of the top.

@JeffGreenlee42 code pen does odd things

              <section >
                  <h2>Portfolio</h2>
              </section>
                </div>
Gaddieshack
@Gaddieshack
@Chrissyanity For mine, I used class="image-responsive". Try that.
No, wait, it was "center-block". Sorry 'bout that.
Tom
@moT01
thats bootstrap right? dont forget to add it, ... @Chrissyanity things seem to be working for me
Chrissy
@Chrissyanity
@Gaddieshack class="img-block"?
@moT01 okay everything is looking good on your end, ill just continue. It may just be the view I have on code pen that's throwing me off
Gaddieshack
@Gaddieshack
class="center-block"
Chrissy
@Chrissyanity
@Gaddieshack oh duh! lol Thank you

@Gaddieshack
No prob. :smile:
Tom
@moT01
@Chrissyanity takes a little getting used to, ...add bootstrap or other things with the little settings button by js, css, or html
Chrissy
@Chrissyanity
@moT01 okay I just added jQuery and bootstrap, should I have gotten new boxes to code in like the ones from HTML, CSS and Javascript?
Waqas Abbasi
@Waqas909
@Chrissyanity No, Jquery code goes in javascript box
@Chrissyanity and Bootstrap code goes in HTML + Css box
Chrissy
@Chrissyanity
All of you are so helpful! :D This is my first attempt at writing code from scratch so this is all super new to me, i've had the training wheels on for too long haha
Is there any particular order i should work in? Like do the HTML stuff first, then the CSS, then go back add do the jQuery and bootstrap?
Tom
@moT01
i like to start with function (js/jquery) and build around that. probly wont work always, sometimes you gotta build a little html or something to work with first
depends what youre doing i guess
probly start with some html in your case
i was doing the api projects and started with js
Chrissy
@Chrissyanity
Ok great advice! I think ill write down some notes on what I at least want the finished product to look like and then build from there. Right now I'm all over the place trying to figure what stuff to even put on this tribute page lol
Tom
@moT01
as you do the exercises after that you learn more and get better, and will probly want to go back and update/change things around
Chrissy
@Chrissyanity
Nice!
Thanks @moT01
Tom
@moT01
wait, not on the tribute page, ...i was thinking of the portfolio page

I'm really stuck with my Tic-Tac-Toe AI. I don't understand why it is mostly only choosing the first space available to it. Any help would be appreciated. http://codepen.io/porygonj/pen/EybYZg?editors=0110
Coy Sanders
@coymeetsworld
@Chrissyanity it depends but usually i just get a basic HTML/CSS pair working so that I can work on the JS code, assuming the project requires JS code (i.e. not tribute and portfolio)
i work on making the design better as I get further at making the JS code do what I want it to do
Tom
@moT01
@porygonj what is happening? the computer picks the first box every time youre saying?
Jonathan Doliver
@porygonj
@moT01 I have a few pre-set options for the first move the AI takes, but after that, if the tic-tac-toe board is a list of cells 0-8, it chooses the first empty cell in the list
Jeff Greenlee
@JeffGreenlee42
@walidashri Sorry.. got distracted What were you saying the problem with the code is?
Walid Ashri
@walidashri
@JeffGreenlee42 u need to add the id to the div not the section tag
<div///  id="portfolio" ///class="portfolio">
              <section >
                  <h2>Portfolio</h2>
              </section>
   </div>
