I've found that Mashape is great for API's
Or when that fails, I google "Free __ API"
Sorin Ruse
@sorinr
@AidenMead post ur pen link
Ellen
@sunsplat
here is an example https://en.wikipedia.org/w/api.php?action=query&format=json&prop=extracts%7Cimageinfo&generator=search&exsentences=2&exlimit=20&exintro=1&gsrsearch= @aarya1302 Play around with the mediawiki link provided in the challenge to understand how to add stuff to this url to get the results you want
Aiden
@AidenMead
To make sure it's pull the data correctly, I've been able to just .append(data), and that has been pulling the right information. But accessing the nested info just isn't working for me.
Ellen
@sunsplat
you can also google how other people have created their wiki url
Aiden
@AidenMead
I feel like I'm making some silly mistake, but I've re-read all of the resources I have on accessing nested objects, and I'm just hitting a brick wall.
Sorin Ruse
@sorinr
@AidenMead run your pen over https not http and you will see the results of geolocation
Aiden
@AidenMead
It's been giving me the geolocation without issue. Is it not working when you pull it up?"

I changed the background image of my portfolio and i can't get it to fix the viewport..
Aiden
@AidenMead
@sorinr The only pull i have over https is the API, but if I run it with http, it errors because it's the wrong address. Am I over looking something?

Aiden
@AidenMead
Ah
Well the geolocation is working fine for me, as well as the API pull. I'm just having issues with accessing the nested objects.
F22rapt
@F22rapt
100vw should fit an image to the entire page correct?
F22rapt
@F22rapt
oh these images are not playing nice
Tadas Stasiulionis
@tst11
Hello everyone, how well did you do on javascript algorithmic challenges? I have just finished Roman numeral converter, how was this challenge for you? I managed to do it in 140 lines of code, quite big program, but that's how figured it out..
Aiden
@AidenMead
I haven't gotten there yet, but that makes me a bit nervous, lol.
whats causing the cut off on the image?
kat-mag
@kat-mag
@tst11 Roman crazy thing? ~10lines if you count. But I'm too lazy to the rest ;/
@F22rapt what cutoff?
F22rapt
@F22rapt
oh. you took so long to look at it i fixed it xD
kat-mag
@kat-mag
@F22rapt u know, nobody's here 24/7 & looking every second at the chat ;o
F22rapt
@F22rapt

F22rapt
@F22rapt
i wonder at what point nesting divs gets to be too much..guess ill find out
Aiden
@AidenMead
@sorinr I see the JSON.parse, but it's still not pulling up results for me? (i went in and changed the link to http, as well, as you suggested, not sure why it keeps defaulting to that)
Sorin Ruse
@sorinr
@F22rapt use divs as major wraps for a group of components that belongs together. think at the <form> tag as a div wrap

@sorinr
@AidenMead don't you get an alert with the city you get from the api?
Aiden
@AidenMead
I do get the alert, I realized after looking a bit more that that was the intention. But changing everything, i still can't get results to show.
Aman saxena
@neille2406

@AidenMead and did you allowed ff to use ur location? tried it also on ff and its working: take a look:
Aiden
@AidenMead
@sorinr Oh, yeah! Sorry, I was totally misunderstand. I did accept and allow. It brings up the alert for me. What I'm finding though, it that if I take that same concept of data access and try to apply it to show, let's say, the current temp. That's where I can't get results.
