Arvin
@arvkh
No, look on the second image :)
I want it like that, centered
Trying to figure out what to do
@MitchWilkins
Aman saxena
@neille2406
@arvkh u can use justify instead of center
Arvin
@arvkh
what do you mean @neille2406
Aman saxena
@neille2406
@arvkh use text-align:justfy; instead of text-align:center;
Arvin
@arvkh
Not working
Mitch
@MitchWilkins
The second picture has text aligned left with the left margin being probably somewhere between 30%-40%
Aman saxena
@neille2406
@MitchWilkins isn't the second picture using justify ??
Arvin
@arvkh
Nope
Plus justify is barely supported
I cheated with padding, but doesn't work well on different sizes
Aman saxena
@neille2406
@arvkh it works in html 5
Arvin
@arvkh
@neille2406
Look here, not very supported
Mitch
@MitchWilkins
@arvkh are you using the bootstrap grid system with rows and columns?
Arvin
@arvkh
I am using bootstrap just so I could build the website faster, but not the grid system @MitchWilkins
Mitch
@MitchWilkins
@neille2406 no. That's text align left. Justify kind of looks like a book page
Chris Rutherford
@cjrutherford
is anyone using pug? I'm having trouble with it.....
Bled A
@TUcode
can anyone check my work: suggestions are welcome : https://codepen.io/bledari/pen/zorZye
Mitch
@MitchWilkins
@arvkh I'd recommend using the grid system. In your row div tag include column 3, column 6, column 3. With your text inside column 6.
kat-mag
@kat-mag
@arvkh he wasn't talking about text-justify. He was talking about text-align: justify and that's like css 2 - supported -.-
Mitch
@MitchWilkins
All of the columns in the grid system must add up to 12. So col-md-3 is 1/4 the width of the row and col-md-6 is 1/2 the width of the row.
Aman saxena
@neille2406
@TUcode don't use too many font size plus italics with such a big font-size doesn't look good.otherwise it's quite good
kat-mag
@kat-mag
@TUcode & fix your tags ;P
Bled A
@TUcode
@kat-mag @neille2406 Yep my tags are mixed to much i will try to document(coment) from now
Thank you Aman
kat-mag
@kat-mag
@TUcode btw, your image's squished. Don't specify the dimensions like that. Give it a width or height 100% and it'll size itself accordingly
Bled A
@TUcode
hmmm, I wanted to be specific size, Thank you
@kat-mag i used only CSS not bootstrap. if was difficult to adapt myself with bootstrap syntax
maybe because it was my first time
kat-mag
@kat-mag
We're not doing pixel perfect designs anymore :D you can use percents & ems when you size stuff
so your picture for example, won't be cut off when you change the size of your window
or when you open it up on mobile
Aman saxena
@neille2406
@TUcode if someone uses it in mobile to see ur page ,there the image might be a problem so use % more
kat-mag
@kat-mag
But + for doing in css only! Boostrap's evil ;d
koolhany
@koolhany
Hey guys I'm working on the Random Quote Generator project and using bootstrap. I'm confused about why the background image on my footer, within the container, isn't spanning across the entire container? I'm pretty new to CSS, help or advice to fix it or a better way to build it would be much appreciated http://codepen.io/Koolhany/pen/KNdRRo
Bled A
@TUcode
Thank you guys
Carl
@carlm7
Guys, when I resize my browser and the menu buttons stack on each other they overlap the content below. How do I fix that? Thanks http://codepen.io/carlm7/pen/GNpvrZ
Aman saxena
@neille2406
@carlm7 use % for ur images rather than pixels.they automatically take the device size
Carl
@carlm7
@neille2406 Images? My page doesn’t have any at the mo
Aman saxena
@neille2406
sorry @carlm7 try padding that would help
kat-mag
@kat-mag
@koolhany padding/margin on your container. Padding on the footer, padding/margin on the image. Not set width of 100%... take your pick xD
koolhany
@koolhany
@kat-mag are these all the potential reasons that could be stopping it from being full width?
kat-mag
@kat-mag
@carlm7 set padding-top on body. And FIX YOUR TAGS! unclosed, mixed
@koolhany these are the reasons.
@koolhany if you go into devtools and inspect your footer... U get padding on your img, p. U go up & discover padding/margin on your container. U fix it. Then it works, kinda. Buuuut. Then you should see that the footer img is not full width, so you go and set it to 100%;
at least that's how you should debug this thing :P
