@DarylKnapp
@sorinr Hey! im on my localhost, im not on codepen
do i still have to declare with in html as well?
Sorin Ruse
@sorinr
@DarylKnapp if you look into the dev tools can u see if the img was loaded or not?
@DarylKnapp because it maybe a relative path to the image problem or if it correctly loads but not showing it means you have to give to the element for witch you aplay that background-image some width and height
DarylKnapp
@DarylKnapp
@sorinr Here's what going on now since i declared the img in HTML
http://i68.tinypic.com/28r0bjo.png
Sorin Ruse
@sorinr
@DarylKnapp if you placed it in html using an <img> tag its not the same as declaring it as background-image. the img tag will try to accommodate the space provided by his parent container while background-image applied to the parent container will try to take full width/height of it depending also on other properties like background-size: cover or fill etc

@UsamaHameed
Anyone familiar with flexbox?
Sorin Ruse
@sorinr
@UsamaHameed whats the problem?
r2d2
@UsamaHameed
@sorinr
I have got 5 flex-items, I have set the width of each to 20vw. No margins or padding. They should fit on one line right?
Sorin Ruse
@sorinr
@UsamaHameed give me 5min. have to finish something. i think i got what u mean. you have only 4 on a row instead of 5. right?
r2d2
@UsamaHameed
Yes @sorinr

@Jamestrey
Hey guys brand new to this room just wanted to introduce my self. Still a baby learning to walk in front end, and I am so thankful for this room!
Sorin Ruse
@sorinr
@UsamaHameed you can try it like:
.flex-item {
  min-height: 50vh;
  font-size: 5em;
  flex-basis: 20%;
}
r2d2
@UsamaHameed
@sorinr Okay it worked. i used flex-basis: 20vw; but when I reloaded the page after saving, it is back to 4 elements per row.
@Jamestrey Welcome. Good to have you hear.
blob
After reloading the page, I got this
blob
It is set to auto-update. I don't know why is this happening.
Changed to flex-basis: 20% and got this
r2d2
@UsamaHameed
blob
Changed back to flex-basis: 20vw and the layout does not change as expected.
Sorin Ruse
@sorinr
@UsamaHameed here is the forked example
r2d2
@UsamaHameed

But when I reload without changing any thing, the layout is back to 4 divs per row
blob
It works sometimes and then it does not :confounded:
@sorinr I just forked the codepen you sent me. it is back to 4 divs per row :/
I think there is something wrong with codepen @sorinr
Sorin Ruse
@sorinr
@UsamaHameed here what i get with that pen:
