hey everyone. i am new to react and i'm having an issue with something that seems simple enough, but i just can't fully get it.
render() {
    var className = this.state.currentTurn === "X" ? "red" : "blue"
    return (
      <div className="board">
        {this.state.board.map((cell, index) => {
          return <div onClick={() => this.handleClick(index)} className={"square " + className}>{cell}</div>;
        })}
      </div>
    );
  }
so basically whats supposed to happen here, is that on click the currentTurn state changes from X to Y and vice versa. and then if its X i give the div a classname of red or blue if its Y. All of that is happening, except every single div is getting the red or blue classname. So basically it seems that every div is getting re-rendered. and i can't for the life of me figure out how to get it done for just one

@calmcoolcollected im getting close i think

Tom
@moT01
i mean, i gotta wait for the timer to go down to troubleshoot it
Brandon Armstrong
@calmcoolcollected
@zarruk The problem is somewhere in your setInterval() function. Not sure exactly what yet.

hey guys, about how much experience do I need in order to have a good chance at landing a jr front end dev position? I started freelancing november of last year...
Tom
@moT01
@calmcoolcollected well, i got it working... at least on this test it worked. not sure what i did
i think its from taking the var out of the when you set the break
in the session
Brandon Armstrong
@calmcoolcollected
@zarruk If I comment out this line at the start of your setInterval(): $(".transcurrido").html(mins + ":" + secs--);, the clock doesn't start. I'm going to guess that it's in the wrong place.
@moT01 Ok, one sec.
Salomon
@zarruk
@calmcoolcollected no because if i press start, it wont start either
Tom
@moT01
@calmcoolcollected yea, that seems to do the trick
Brandon Armstrong
@calmcoolcollected
@moT01 Wow that seems to be it haha, I really should have caught that. So much headache over one small thing. Thank you again for the help.

Tom
@moT01
man thats rough, 3 letters blew it all out of whack
there was at least one other thing i think you might need to add
setting session back to true at the end of the break
Brandon Armstrong
@calmcoolcollected
@zarruk Ah ok, sorry the line isn't the problem. The problem is that your setInterval() isn't in another function so it starts once you load the page.
Salomon
@zarruk
@calmcoolcollected so I have to put it inside another function?
Brandon Armstrong
@calmcoolcollected
@moT01 Ok let me see, but yeah that's the next step. I want it to eventually loop at the end.
@zarruk I think you should. For example, in my clock my setInterval() is in my click(), so that it'll start once you hit the button.
Salomon
@zarruk
yes you were right! thanks for your guidance!
@calmcoolcollected thanks!

I've been through all the entire section on JSON APIs and AJAX multiple times and I still have no idea what ajax is or how I used it or am supposed to use it for the projects. Looking at the zipline projects, I feel like I am completely lost and have no idea where to begin. I'm guessing I'm supposed to find my own API that provides random quotes? I found one but it talks about HTTP requests and I don't remember learning about that at all. I felt like all of the other lessons were very straightforward... even into the intermediate algorithms scripting I haven't had any trouble understanding what should be done. But I feel so lost on the ajax, HTTP requests, and APIs... and I can't figure out what lessons I'm even supposed to be looking at. Can anyone help?
Brandon Armstrong
@calmcoolcollected
@drstonebraker I can try. What project are you trying to do exactly?
Drew Stonebraker
@drstonebraker
@calmcoolcollected i was going to start with the random quote machine
Brandon Armstrong
@calmcoolcollected
@drstonebraker Ok. You don't need an API for that one but you could use one.
Drew Stonebraker
@drstonebraker
@calmcoolcollected when you say I don't need an api, are you just referring to hardcoding the different quotes?
Brandon Armstrong
@calmcoolcollected
@drstonebraker Yup exactly. You can put a bunch in an array and randomly sort through it. Unless you're set on using an API.
