@mustimuu Not sure if this applies, but also you have to apply center-block to the img itself, as opposed to its parent div. Whereas with text-center you usually put that within the element containing any text.
Jean Marco Romero
@volkranium
why does DOCTYPE declaration makes background photo dissapear?
Pedro
@pvale94
erm
im having trouble while passing the text for twitter
it shows for sharing: "Standards are like sex; one mistake, and you’re stuck supporting it forever! " Mark Pilgrim instead of "Standards are like sex; one mistake, and you’re stuck supporting it forever!"
im getting problems with the encoding
and here is the part of the code that I am using:
$('#tweet-quote').attr('href', 'https://twitter.com/intent/tweet?text=' + encodeURIComponent('"' + text + '" ' + author));
vínαч puppαl
@vinaypuppal
@pvale94 may be try this
$('#tweet-quote').attr('href', 'https://twitter.com/share/?text=' + encodeURIComponent('"'  +  text  +  '"  '  + author));
Pedro
@pvale94
It didn't work :(
vínαч puppαl
@vinaypuppal
@pvale94 i updated URL in my previous reply, and this seems working for me
$('#tweet-quote').attr('href', 'https://twitter.com/share/?text=' + encodeURIComponent('"'  +  text  +  '"  '  + author));
Gulsvi
@gulsvi
@pvale94 Did you use target="_blank" on your tweet-quote HTML?
vínαч puppαl
@vinaypuppal
@pvale94 passing hello; and authorname as text to 'https://twitter.com/share/?text=' + encodeURIComponent('"' + 'hello;' + '" ' + 'author name') would evaluate to https://twitter.com/share/?text=%22hello%3B%22%20%20authorname
@SkyCoder01 yeah
Gulsvi
@gulsvi
@pvale94 Good, it should work better now
You may just want to change it to grab your $('#quote').text() instead though, I think that does some encoding on it
Or, escaping, I mean - so you don't get character codes for smart quotes, for example
vínαч puppαl
@vinaypuppal
@pvale94 oh dont worry about ’ its just hex value of ' it would be tweeted as ' in tweet so no need to worry
Pedro
@pvale94
@vinaypuppal it tweets the hex value
vínαч puppαl
@vinaypuppal
@pvale94 oh :worried:
@pvale94 then no idea why its happening, may be someone else can help
Gulsvi
@gulsvi
@pvale94
    if (($('#quote').text().length) > 140) {
      $("#tweet-quote").hide();
    } else {
      $("#tweet-quote").show();
      $('#tweet-quote').attr('href', 'https://twitter.com/intent/tweet?text=' + encodeURIComponent($('#quote').text()));
    }
Matt K
@MattKim22
Can someone take a look at my pen and see if there's an alternative way to make this quote machine better, or more concise without using an API? http://codepen.io/MattKim22/pen/LxeNPp
any feedback would be appreciated
Pedro
@pvale94
@SkyCoder01 Oh! I see what you did. It worked! \o/
thanks m8 :b
Now I have to figure out how to get only small quotes. It's not nice to hide/show button based on quotes lengths :\
vínαч puppαl
@vinaypuppal
@pvale94 did ' converted to ' again in tweet ?? what did i miss in my answer
Pedro
@pvale94
if (($('#quote').text().length) > 140) { $("#tweet-quote").hide(); } else { $("#tweet-quote").show(); $('#tweet-quote').attr('href', 'https://twitter.com/intent/tweet?text=' + encodeURIComponent($('#quote').text())); }
this
ops
 if (($('#quote').text().length) > 140) {
      $("#tweet-quote").hide();
    } else {
      $("#tweet-quote").show();
      $('#tweet-quote').attr('href', 'https://twitter.com/intent/tweet?text=' + encodeURIComponent($('#quote').text()));
    }
^
Gulsvi
@gulsvi
@pvale94 You would have to put your getJSON in its own function and call that function again if the quote is longer than 140
vínαч puppαl
@vinaypuppal
@pvale94 i though you were passing text variable which contains quote. Here text replaced by $('#quote').text(). Did u not pull quote in to text variable. like ??
var text = $('#quote').text()
Pedro
@pvale94
nope :(
Gulsvi
@gulsvi
pseudocode would be:
  function getNewQuote() {
    // getJSON to get the quote

    if (quote.length > 140) {
      getNewQuote();
      return;
    }
  }
vínαч puppαl
@vinaypuppal
@pvale94 :worried: , np anyway it got solved :smile:
Pedro
@pvale94
@SkyCoder01 ooh
ill try it
@vinaypuppal yeah \o/
Gulsvi
@gulsvi
You're making me want to do that now lol, I just tweet it out without worrying about the length
Jaime
@jmasked
Can someone help me with animating my progress bars with jQuery? http://codepen.io/jmasked/pen/RKYXNG
joopt
@joopt
can anyone help me
[Object {
  description: "broken clouds",
  icon: "04n",
  id: 803,
  main: "Clouds"
}]
trying to add the icon property
i do data.weather and it gives me that but if i do data.weather.icon it gives me undefined
Tyler Moeller
@TylerMoeller

@jmasked Here's one way, using your last progress bar as an example. Change your initial width to 0% in your HTML:

  <div class="progress-bar3" role="progressbar" aria-valuenow="0"
  aria-valuemin="0" aria-valuemax="100" style="width:0%">
    85%
  </div>

Add a transition to your CSS:

.progress-bar3 {
  background-color: #d0157b;
  transition: width 2s;
}

And then change the width on document.ready:

$(document).ready(function() {
  $('.progress-bar3').css('width', '85%')
});
@joopt As a hint, data.weather is an array []
Jaime
@jmasked
@TylerMoeller Thank you! Going to try that now
