@whizcat class in a div

Josh Bailey
@Athabasco Ah great! night
Ajay Tanwar
https://codepen.io/ajayt365/pen/RRYOdk . why crossorigin.me is not working
stopped working I think
Why my content below img is not center ?
Is there problem with this div class? <div class="col-xs-12 col-sm-8 col-sm-offset-2 col-md-8 col-md-offset-2">
@Prezess maybe, because sm-8 + sm-2 = 10 not 12, BUT where did you tell it to be centered? nowhere. that's the default alignment
Joris Labie
Indeed, you should look into the text-* classes
For your goal text-center should do what you want
@Marianissimus The offset is correct, to center a div with a width md-8 you want 2 columns on both sides hence the offset of 2 columns
@labiej doesn't offset just move columns to the right? Here's from bootstrap: Move columns to the right using .col-md-offset- classes. These classes increase the left margin of a column by columns. For example, .col-md-offset-4 moves .col-md-4 over four columns.
anyway, he should just tell add the text-center class, like he did before. Or do you want to center-align the text? @Prezess
Joris Labie
It does, but it moves the left edge over that many columns. So if you move it by 4 columns the right edge of an 8 column wide div will touch the browsers edge.
@labiej yes, but that's not centering it. OK, we actually agree but see different problems:)
Joris Labie
I guess we do. I don't like bootstrap or any other frameworks though. Materialize is somewhat okay because the form-fields have a great default markup + it has a lot of colours built in.

Hey guys. Why isn't 1 getting outputted when I click on it? http://codepen.io/jimpix/pen/zNNBZr
Waqas Abbasi

@playingwithinfinity Because

parseInt($("#display").html()) = Nan

I think that's why it's not outputting it
@Waqas909 No, I was using .html instead of .val
Waqas Abbasi

@playingwithinfinity Nvm, It's actually the input box.

<input type="text" id="display"> //Replacing this with

<p type="text" id="display"> </p>

Yeah, I got it.
Waqas Abbasi
@Waqas909 Why don't my arithmetic buttons display anything? http://codepen.io/jimpix/pen/zNNBZr
What's wrong?
It was just working?
@Marianissimus @labiej I want to have this column on the center place on site.
Quick question guys,
I'm trying to call an API for the weather app challenge but i can't seem to get the api call to work..
I just want it to display the object on screen so I know I'm get a response, then work from there
@johnnydemol you forgot to add the API key to the URL
Thanks @fortMaximus I'll see if I can figure out how to do that
johnnydemol sends brownie points to @fortmaximus :sparkles: :thumbsup: :sparkles:
:cookie: 301 | @fortmaximus |http://www.freecodecamp.com/fortmaximus
Our weather API is simple, clear and free. We also offer higher levels of support, please see our paid plan options. To access the API you need to sign up for an API key if you are on a free or paid plan.
and if it still not working after adding the API key. Try HTTPS instead of HTTP in the URL
I have to wait about ten minutes for the key to be activated but I'll let you know if it works. Thanks a lot for your help, the tut on apis wasn't all that clear to me
YW. Yea, there are somethings you have to figure out by youself

[Basic question re CodePen] I'm new to CodePen and want to make sure I've set this up correctly so I can complete the "Build a Tribute Page".

  • Are there any setting I need to set?
  • Any Header code or libraries to load?

I ask this as I cheated a bit (I find it helps me learn faster) and loaded up Quincy Larson's HTML and CSS and ran the code....and I get a different looking result.

@IanMacMillan Have you watched the project video?
add bootstrap in the css panel setting
Ian MacMillan
@fortMaximus Yes....and have Bootstrap added to CSS, but not behaving as expected.
@meli94 Yes....have Bootstrap added to CSS, but not behaving as expected. Any other settings or libraries?
