  1. Can you see my code and tell me why my image does not cover the whole page
Sunny Wong
@swong194
@MauriSg99 where is ur code?
Long Nguyen
@longnt80
@fullmetal7777 you should use position:absolute to position your button
to avoid jumping like that
@fullmetal7777 right now you usevh as the unit to position the button, this unit is related to viewport's size, that's why your button is jumping around
Andrew Hickman
@ahickman3
@longnt80 the vh never changes as i change the screen width though?
Long Nguyen
@longnt80
@fullmetal7777 use position:absolute and set it related to the container div instead of viewport
@fullmetal7777 you also have margin-left: 20vw;
@fullmetal7777 your button should have its position relative to the container div, not the viewport
Long Nguyen
@longnt80
@fullmetal7777 here's a quick example: https://codepen.io/longnt80/pen/gmVKmr
Andrew Hickman
@ahickman3
@longnt80 pretty much whats causing me SO much trouble is for some reason if i move the margins of the twitter button, it completely messes up my get quote button. I have no clue why, so ive had to work around it in weird ways. But that may be my solution though
Long Nguyen
@longnt80
@fullmetal7777 you have many variables that can conflicting each other
Andrew Hickman
@ahickman3
ive tried figuring out why the two buttons seem connected to each other in weird ways, but no idea
yep, position absolute is definately the way to go lol its fixing a bunch of stupid. Damn, thanks man

because both button is set to float, which can cause them to float around when you resize the window

Andrew Hickman
@ahickman3
@longnt80 ahh so the float was mussing stuff up, gotchaa. Thanks again lol man that was really bugging me out too

ChrisAB74
@ChrisAB74
Any one help me understand why when I scroll things are going infront of my nav-pills
Gulsvi
@gulsvi

@MauriSg99 Add these CSS properties to your header:

  position: absolute;
  z-index: -1;
  width: 100%;

And take your text out of the <header> (or ideally, define a different element for your blurry background)

@ACSlater8
im trying to move my objects but dont know how to properly move them using bootstrap
Gulsvi
@gulsvi
@ChrisAB74 Add navbar-fixed-top to your <ul> tag for your nav-pills:
<ul class="nav nav-pills nav-justified navbar-fixed-top">
Sunny Wong
@swong194
@ChrisAB74 set a high z-index

@gulsvi
@ACSlater8 What objects are you trying to move?
ACSlater8
@ACSlater8

@HappyViki
anyone know how to get the json wiki page to show up? I tried this: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/api.php?format=json&titles=India
Long Nguyen
@longnt80
@MauriSg99
header{
  height: 100vh;
  margin-top: -20px;
  margin-bottom:20px;
}

header .image{
  background-image:url(https://images.pexels.com/photos/7369/startup-photos.jpg?w=940&h=650&auto=compress&cs=tinysrgb);
  background-size: cover;
  filter: blur(1px);
  -webkit-filter: blur(1px);
  position: absolute;
  width: 100%;
  height: 100%;
  z-index: -1;
  width: 100%;
}
Gulsvi
@gulsvi
@ACSlater8 To move them down, you can use margin-top on the row that they're located in - give that row a class name and add margin-top in your CSS.
To move them left and right, play around with the size of the columns. For example, this makes the title and the text each take up 50% of the page width on md-sized screens and larger:
<div class="pageTwo">
  <div class="row">
    <div class="col-md-6 text-center">
      <h1>Slater Elkind</h1>
    </div>
    <div class="col-md-6">
      <p>Front-End Developer and UX/UI designer, with practical experience in project management, branding strategy, and creative direction; devoted to functional programming and information architecture.</p>
    </div>
  </div>
</div>

@MauriSg99
@longnt80 Thaaaanks! That's exactly what I needed

@ACSlater8
@SkyC0der Isn't it bad to use margin in css while using bootstrap. I was told that can affect the responsiveness of the program?
Gulsvi
@gulsvi
margin-top / margin-bottom is fine
left/right margins can mess things up, yes
ACSlater8
@ACSlater8
@SkyC0der and what about padding?
Gulsvi
@gulsvi
It's the same - left/right can mess things up with bootstrap.
Jarren
@Jarren5cent
Hello friends, I'm trying to learn how to make 2 gifs side by side, i'm not really sure what needs to be done, i'm trying "row" and col-md-4" right now.
https://codepen.io/Jarren5cent/pen/bRpxOQ
Gulsvi
@gulsvi
Responsive sites are based on screen width, not height
ACSlater8
@ACSlater8
ok
@SkyC0der so how would i move things left to right without messing it up
ChrisAB74
@ChrisAB74
Could I get some feedback. I finally got everything working the way it should.

ACSlater8
@ACSlater8
@SkyC0der i dont really understand the col command
Gulsvi
@gulsvi
@ACSlater8 Adjust the 6 in both of those col class names. The numbers have to add up to 12. So, use 3 and 9 or 5 and 7, etc.
a row has 12 columns - col-md-6 = 50% of a row.
(6/12)
