@markclynch
bah, so annoying to get those images in right spots since I'm working locally
maybe I shouldn't have done that initially
stayed with HTMLS:// addy till I was ready to publish finished
BasithAbdul
@BasithAbdul
@markclynch but will php run? As in does GitHub act as a server or does it just store files?
Claudio Restifo
@Marmiz
@markclynch you know, a way cleaner and faster way to prototype locally would have been creating your files and serving them locally from a local server (maybe with hot reload so you don't have to manually refresh the page each time you change something).
Then committing the relevant change to your branch / and updating the github page once you are sure those changes are there to stay :)
markclynch
@markclynch
I have all of that
Claudio Restifo
@Marmiz
So that you have even a better commit history that just "added border" "changed padding" "new images"...
Easier to revert to previous version
dinesh
@1532j0004kg
hi @Marmiz
can u fix my error
linking to the course is not showing the right place
click on the course tab it is not directed to righ place
Claudio Restifo
@Marmiz
@1532j0004kg it is, you are just not accounting for the height of the nav bar. Clicking will place the view at the "beginning" of the div.
In this case is just getting covered by the navbar height
dinesh
@1532j0004kg
ya how to fix
but for other tabs its working ?
markclynch
@markclynch
@Marmiz Your right. I shouildn't be doing such small commits
Claudio Restifo
@Marmiz
@1532j0004kg because the other tabs have a higher "banner", so the sign is lower thus seems working :)
dinesh
@1532j0004kg
So can u fix this one
Claudio Restifo
@Marmiz
@1532j0004kg cleanest way to fix it is on click calculate the position - the height (+ margin) of the nav and send there :)
markclynch
@markclynch
But I'm using vs. code and most of the small ones were only because I was trying to update small changes to my github-pages page so people could see here without me changing all the code links for the pics
dinesh
@1532j0004kg
If u put the code its easier
Claudio Restifo
@Marmiz
@1532j0004kg but it''s no good for you
dinesh
@1532j0004kg
ok i know
but how to send after calculating
Max Kazionov
@MaximKazionov

https://codepen.io/maximkazionov/full/MGjPXX/

plz make a code review of my fcc tribute page

Claudio Restifo
@Marmiz
@1532j0004kg scrollTo or any other helper from JQuery (there are a few) since you are using it
dinesh
@1532j0004kg
ok i will try to fix
BasithAbdul
@BasithAbdul
Can GitHub act as server?
Claudio Restifo
@Marmiz
@BasithAbdul nope
it only hosts static pages
BasithAbdul
@BasithAbdul
Is there any free option to host dynamic sites with a database?
dinesh
@1532j0004kg
@Marmiz what is the error name of my site?
@BasithAbdul glitch
Claudio Restifo
@Marmiz
@1532j0004kg "how to scroll to a position javascript"
dinesh
@1532j0004kg
or heroku
Claudio Restifo
@Marmiz
@1532j0004kg this is the vanilla JS method scrollTo
dinesh
@1532j0004kg
oik
Claudio Restifo
@Marmiz
happy coding :+1:
dinesh
@1532j0004kg
@Marmiz :smile: thanks

markclynch
@markclynch
how long does it take for github-pages to show the current codebase?
@1532j0004kg
BasithAbdul
@BasithAbdul
@1532j0004kg thanks man
Daniel Simeonov
@dbsimeonov
guys what do you think about pug ? Is something that I need to learn/ or just to know the basics
Stephen James
@sjames1958gm
@dbsimeonov I don't know how widespread its use is, but maybe a cursory understanding is all that is needed
react / angular / vuejs should be higher on the list of items to learn
tptynlr
@tptynlr
How to read a word(.docx) file in angular or JavaScript
Markus Kiili
@Masd925
@tptynlr I think that there are libraries for handling word files in JS.
Daniel Simeonov
@dbsimeonov
@sjames1958gm Thanks
Luc Martin
@fmartin5
Or maybe you could first convert those docx files to a simpler format, according to what you need to extract from the files (you probably do not need every feature the docx format supports), then a smaller js library would be enough to process that simpler format
