@NJM8 do you think 3 solid projects is enough to put on a resume? or do I need more?
Nate Mallison
@NJM8
no idea, I think it's worth it to start applying so you get more of an idea of where your skills stand and get practice interviewing

@Ohshi60
Hi, can anybody help me figure out how to properly center my about-header text so it aligns with the other sections? https://codepen.io/ohshi/pen/vRPPmv
Amit Patel
@AmitP88
@NJM8 definitely
I might clean up one more project just to be safe
Nate Mallison
@NJM8
@kamatheuska Functionality is good, I think I would change some ui a bit, especially on the main project page. Great that you are using Vue, I just started learning myself for the backend projects, do you have a link to your code? I'd love to take a look if you are willing to share
Zebralight
@zebralight
hello. I was wondering how I can contain the y overflow such that scrolling is limited to the ul and no scroll bar appears in the main window: https://jsfiddle.net/90dLw6qw/
Nate Mallison
@NJM8
@Ohshi60 Do you mean your name and title? Your image takes up space so it pushes that content to the left, I would put the image in a separate div and use position absolute plus zindex to put it in the same place but 'above' the title div.
@zebralight do you mean you want no scroll? or just the ul to scroll and not the page?
Zebralight
@zebralight
@NJM8 the latter
while the ul would take up all the space available to it
Nate Mallison
@NJM8
@zebralight like this? https://jsfiddle.net/ktp4c6sz/
Zebralight
@zebralight
@NJM8 almost! Except that the ul would not have a hardcoded height but be more responsive using the rest of the space available to it,
I'm wondering if flexbox would be best for achieving this
Nate Mallison
@NJM8
to my knowledge if you don't specify a height it'll just expand with the content in it, I mean you can make that height responsive but it still needs to be there

@kamatheuska

@NJM8 Thanks for answering! https://github.com/kamatheuska/portafolio I alredy posted the link upabove, but here is it again. I use nodejs and express for the backend!

About the main page, that one is by no means ready. I haven't worked at all on it! I wanted to finish the projects first :)

Nate Mallison
@NJM8
are you using vue cli? can't read any of that. haha
Michael S
@Ohshi60
@NJM8 i tried the z-index method, but the picture is overlapping with my about-summary, any ideas? https://codepen.io/ohshi/pen/vRPPmv
Nicolas Ramirez
@kamatheuska
@NJM8 yes I am :) with webpack
vuex and vue-router....should I have some kind of disclaimer saying that I am using Vue? :O
Nate Mallison
@NJM8
@Ohshi60 Yes, so right now since you took the image out of the flow of the page with position:absolute, it doesn't take up space, it resides in it's own space, so that div that holds your name and title is shorter, so make it taller by specifying some height, or decrease the width of that div so that the text is narrower, if you do that use margin:o auto to center the div on the page, lastly I would wrap the entire page in a bootstrap container (div class="container") around everything so that the page is narrower than the viewport and doesn't have any x scroll
@kamatheuska no I was just commenting that all the code has been minified so it's not very readable on github, good work, I hope to use all that soon, just starting with Vue, here is my first project: https://www.natethedev.com/FocusedTodo/

@niniyzni

hi,

  • I am new to jquery.
  • when ever I edit the check boxes I need to show the timeGrad1 image in editImage column.
  • right now if I edit checkbox in third column image shows after that if I edit the checkbox in sixth column the image diappears.
  • but the image should stay permanent if I edit in both the the columns.
  • similarly it should happen for the drop down menu too.
  • can you tell me how to fix.so that in future I will fix it by myself.
  • providing my code below

http://jsfiddle.net/61ufvtpj/

    $(document).on('change', '#sixthColumnCheck', function() {

      if (this.checked) {
        alert("if I am inside sixth column");
        $(this).parents('tr').find('td').eq(1).addClass("timeGrad1");
        var returnVal = confirm("Are you sure?");
        $(this).prop("checked", returnVal);
      } else {
        alert("else I am inside sixth column");

        $(this).parents('tr').find('td').eq(1).removeClass("timeGrad1");

      }

    });

    //thirdColumnCheckGrid

    $(document).on('change', '#thirdColumnCheckGrid', function() {

      if (this.checked) {
        alert("if I am inside third column");
        $(this).parents('tr').find('td').eq(1).addClass("timeGrad1");
        var returnVal = confirm("Are you sure?");
        $(this).prop("checked", returnVal);
      } else {
        alert("else I am inside third column");

        $(this).parents('tr').find('td').eq(1).removeClass("timeGrad1");

      }

    });

@NJM8
I plan to learn the ecosystem and use the MEVN stack to build all my backend apps
Rajat
@rajataudichya
anyone here experience in codeignitor?
have a very silly doubt :P
Michael S
@Ohshi60
@NJM8 when you say wrap the page in a container, should i do it for the whole body including my nav and footer tags?
Nate Mallison
@NJM8
yup, it'll keep all your content inside the viewport and not make things too wide, I think bootstrap containers are 80% width, but you could customize it.
<body>
  <div class="container">
  <!-- all other content -->
  </div>
</body>
there we go
Michael S
@Ohshi60
i guess jquery script in bottom of my body doesnt matter
Nate Mallison
@NJM8
nope, that can be outside
@rajataudichya no idea what that is
