I just scaled the grid at 200% to make it seem larger.
Christopher McCormack
@cmccormack
Just meant canvas in the generic term
but I would recommend not making a user scroll if they need to get to an edge that's off screen
midnitedev101
@midnitedev101
hmm. are you using firefox? im using chrome right now and everytime the player moves, it centers on the character thereby making scrolling unnecessary. thats probably what it is.
Christopher McCormack
@cmccormack
I am and that's a fair point , it does center nicely
midnitedev101
@midnitedev101
apparently its some issue with the scrollIntoView() function i implemented. it has some issues with firefox. gotta find one of those alternatives, if any :D
Christopher McCormack
@cmccormack
@midnitedev101 maybe just get rid of the border color and have the game background match your body background so the user doesn't even know
midnitedev101
@midnitedev101
yeah, ill try that
Christopher McCormack
@cmccormack
I'd also recommend making the player select static, as clicking then slightly moving the mouse causes the window to move instead of selecting the character
But these are all minor things, it looks good!
midnitedev101
@midnitedev101
Tested that out. Also, updated Firefox version to 60.0.2 and behavior is now similar to chrome's
Thank you! and thank you very much for helping me improve it!
Christopher McCormack
@cmccormack
@midnitedev101 no problem!

@midnitedev101
For anyone else checking the project, I updated my changes in here: https://codepen.io/qwirkyrabbit/full/ZRBXqz/
Thank you!

Guys is there a way I can configure/edit a page for printable/downloadable file. For example - I want to create a grocery list, which to be displayed one way, and printable/downloadable with different styling. Lol hope you can understand what i'm trying
DarkxPunk
@DarkxPunk
@dbsimeonov Yes
@dbsimeonov Actually yes to printable not to downloadable.
@dbsimeonov At lease not without first converting to printable
Daniel Simeonov
@dbsimeonov
@DarkxPunk So can it be done with javascript ? About downloadable it might be possible after converting it to printable I think.
Bjorn van de Peut
@bjorno43
@midnitedev101 Very nice job! Finished the game and now I hate you! :laughing:
DarkxPunk
@DarkxPunk
@dbsimeonov Nope, you use CSS and @media print
Daniel Simeonov
@dbsimeonov
@DarkxPunk loool, did not know about that! Something new, thanks will read further !
DarkxPunk
@DarkxPunk
@dbsimeonov No problem. Bascially whatever is gonna convert it for download just apply the print style sheet first then convert and download
Daniel Simeonov
@dbsimeonov
Will try to do it once I build it :D Just one of those ideas before bed :D
Bjorn van de Peut
@bjorno43
@dbsimeonov You could also look at jsPDF: https://github.com/MrRio/jsPDF Which is generating PDF files with Javascript
Daniel Simeonov
@dbsimeonov
@bjorno43 Amazing, thanks ! @DarkxPunk

Hey all. Someone who can help me with a css grid question? :smiley:
Trying to figure out how to make a grid template width be normally content-max of the column as long as it's less than 8em, otherwise it stays at 8em
Aymen
@AymenAlSalem
@DSlatkin you can use minmax(min,max) to define minimum and maximum column width.
here is a lesson from FCC youtube that helped me to fully understand CSS grid : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t6CBKf8K_Ac&t=28s

@newtothat
what do you think about IT courses by google
Brad
@bradtaniguchi
@newtothat Do you want to learn IT stuff?
include*engine
@newtothat
@bradtaniguchi yes it helps to understand and going through history of technolgy and comparing tools that we had by than and what we have now
learning how computer works actually it helps me to understand .I mean everything you learn about computers.each skill helps to understand the other new ones easier and everything kinda starts to make sense
include*engine
@newtothat
or Learning IT stuff is like preperation for computer science. And computer science in english is more like for native englis speakers

This program prints undefined. I don't know what's wrong. Can anybody help?
function checkCashRegister(price, cash, cid) {
  let hash = {
    "PENNY": 0.01,
    "NICKEL": 0.05,
    "DIME": 0.1,
    "QUARTER": 0.25,
    "ONE": 1,
    "FIVE": 5,
    "TEN": 10,
    "TWENTY": 20,
    "ONE HUNDRED": 100
  }
console.log(available(hash, cid));
}
function available(hash,cid){
  return cid.reduce((prev, curr)=>{
    prev += hash[curr[0]]*curr[1];
  },0);
}
checkCashRegister(19.5, 20, [["PENNY", 1.01], ["NICKEL", 2.05], ["DIME", 3.1], ["QUARTER", 4.25], ["ONE", 90], ["FIVE", 55], ["TEN", 20], ["TWENTY", 60], ["ONE HUNDRED", 100]]);
abraham anak agung
@padunk
@mpmaan you need to return inside your reduce function
mpmaan
@mpmaan
@padunk thanks
abraham anak agung
@padunk
@mpmaan np, if you want to calculate total in cid, you don't need hash
mpmaan
@mpmaan
i need to map "HUNDRED" to 100 then multiply it with available number of notes
second value in 1D arrays is the number of notes/coins
abraham anak agung
@padunk
@mpmaan i think the cid is like ONE HUNDRED, 100 means you have 1 ONE HUNDRED. TWENTY, 60 means you have 3 TWENTY notes
mpmaan
@mpmaan
lol..really..i need to check the problem statement
abraham anak agung
@padunk
yup :smile: so in total you have just about 300 something, not 11 thousand, that is too much
