@flyfishingbarbara you can still continue the legacy certificates. you likely new to add a new email if your old email was via github. then log in with the new email.

@flyfishingbarbara The background issue is because of:

.about-me-text {
  width: 700px;

Use a bootstrap column for those paragraphs instead

@molelizaa_twitter thnks will check this out...!! thanks again
@hensn5250 re curriculum...is that right! phew.... my login was a github email addy...so now i just have to create another login addy...??

Hello, for my localWeather app, everything works fine when I'm on my pc (I've tested this using both Chrome and Firefox, in both my Host OS and Ubuntu Guest OS in Virtualbox).

However, when I open up chrome on my android phone and visit my localWeather pen in CodePen, the JSON data that I pull from FCC's weather api does not replace the text on the page (i.e. Location, Temperature, Forecast, and Weather Icon). Can anyone help me understand why?

Also, I am trying to debug this in my android phone. I followed the steps found here, but it did not work as the chrome browser from my laptop did not detect my phone. Anyone know a workaround to this?

Christopher McCormack
@flyfishingbarbara try using https://www.freecodecamp.org/deprecated-signin
Barbara Pentoney
@cmccormack i have no problem logging in.... it's that the whole curriculum has changed! i was on the last of the intermediate projects...
Christopher McCormack
So you have items completed? @flyfishingbarbara
You can still get the legacy cert - check in Settings > Legacy Certification Settings > Legacy Front End Projects
I don't think the twitch project is part of the new curriculum though
Barbara Pentoney
@cmccormack yes....and they show up with the check marks...it's just that now there is 4x the challenges... i was on the twitch.tv challenge, then the last 15 advanced algorithms to do and the last 4 or 5 advanced projects to do to get the cert for front end....
re twitch.tv - it's not...
what the heck!
Christopher McCormack
find it?
Barbara Pentoney
@cmccormack yes, under setting... so as long as i do those last few advance projects i get the front end cert, right?
Christopher McCormack
the legacy front end cert
fine though
everything is shifted around for the new stuff but there's quite a bit of overlap
Barbara Pentoney
@cmccormack are you with fcc...this is for sure a fact...??
Christopher McCormack
I'm not but I can click the button in my settings and see the cert
even has my original completion date
Barbara Pentoney
and that completion date was after this 'new curriculum' came out...??
Christopher McCormack
no the legacy cert is not the same as the new frontend cert
Barbara Pentoney
no that's not what i'm asking/saying... you got your legacy cert done after the new curriculum came out...??
Christopher McCormack
no it was last year
Barbara Pentoney
yah, that still is different from my situation...
so i will just continue with the 'legacy cert projects' and HOPE i get a cert out of it...?? again i'd like to get an email for someone with FCC to confirm this... any ideas....?
Christopher McCormack
Maybe ask on the forum, I remember reading you should be able to get the legacy cert even if you didn't complete it before the change but you can do the research
Barbara Pentoney
@cmccormack ahhh thanks! have a good one!
Christopher McCormack
@flyfishingbarbara you too!
Daniel Feldman
@flyfishingbarbara You can still get your legacy front end cert. Look under your account settings, they have a legacy section and you just need to enter URLs for your projects to complete legacy cert.

hello everybody I was wondering if it was necessary to add Meyer's CSS RESET when I use bootstrap ?

QUestion about making Grid Template Areas: Do I have to give each section/area class designations if I’m using semantic HTML5 tags?
The MDN docs show how Grid Template Areas would work without semantic tags:
Barbara Pentoney
@Feldbot yes, i saw this under settings...so another question i have is the last 4 advanced projects...where can i get the user stories for each of those projects. yes, i see the name of them and have an idea of what they want but they always have 'user stories' that have to be fulfilled....thanks in advanced...barb

Anyone wanna help me with my project? I’ve tried approaching a problem I’m having with css in this project from different angles, but I keep running into different problems with pretty much the same part (the pricing section). This is the product landing page project, btw:

does anybody know how to use cookies to persist a user's identity?
Ali Bulut
@lisacopeland you will remember me etc ?
Remember me, you will do the feature ?
Pavel Tsurbeleu
@lisacopeland in a nutshell it is as simple as document.cookie = “username=johndoe”... but practical application may be slightly more involved, can you give more context or details about yours?

Hi Guys,

@ali27001 Thank you - I worked it out
in video tutorials they teach like basic html css and js
but in reality it is not web development
they teach like 50 percent of web development
for example when you finish basic html css you think that you know html and css but actually you don't because when it comes to creating pure html and css projects you stuck in there
and then you relize that you have to master one suject in depth and start learning a language and libraries

  • I am using kendo grid.
  • in my grid there are so many columns, if i change the value in one checkbox its affecting the first column Checkbox.
  • can you guys tell me how to fix it.
  • providing my code below.
  • I debugged and found out, happening due to this line dataItem.set('checkedOutUserId', ""); in the below method.
  • whole code I am pasting in gist since the file is big, rlevant code alone I am putting it below

$('#kgrid').on('click', '#foulFlagCheck', function () {
    that.isSaveDisableGrid = false;

    var checked = $(this).is(':checked');
    let grid = that.gridkendo.getGrid();
    var dataItem = grid.dataItem($(this).closest('tr'));
    dataItem.dirty = true;
    dataItem.set("dirty", true);
   //dataItem.set('checkedOutUserId', "");
   dataItem.checkedOutUserId = null;

    grid.lockedTable.find("tr[data-uid='" + dataItem.uid + "'] td #foulFlagCheck").attr('checked', checked);
    grid.table.find("tr[data-uid='" + dataItem.uid + "'] td #foulFlagCheck").attr('checked', checked);
    dataItem.operationType = "Update";
    if (checked) {
        dataItem.isDataUpdated = true;
        dataItem.foul = "Y";
    else {
        dataItem.isDataUpdated = false;
        dataItem.foul = "N";

    if (!(dataItem.updateflag != undefined && dataItem.updateflag == true)) {

        dataItem.updateflag = true;

    field: "foul", title: "foul", editable: true, width: 65, aggregates: ["count"], groupHeaderTemplate: "foul: #= value # (#= count# item(s))",
    //filterable: that.gridkendo.getAutoFilter("contains"),
    template: function foulFunc(foul) {
        return that.foulCheckBox(foul, that);
    filterable: false,
    attributes: {
        class: "#: (checkedOutUserId !== undefined && checkedOutUserId !== null && checkedOutUserId !== '') ? 'rowDisabled' : ''#"

private foulCheckBox(type: any, that: any) {
    let value;
    if (type.foul == "N" || type.foul == null || type.foul == undefined || type.foul == " " || type.foul == "") {
        value = '<input type="checkbox" id ="foulFlagCheck"  class="checkBox" />';
    } else if (type.foul == "Y") {
        value = '<input type="checkbox" id ="foulFlagCheck" checked="checked" class="checkBox" />';
    return value;
