Brad
@bradtaniguchi
and all I just said should be applied to all code you write, not just FCC.
TCzechowski
@TCzechowski
@bradtaniguchi That's why I asked if I should move on or should I actually study the code and try to do it the "better" way :) Problem is that I don't fully understand the solution provided by FCC but hey, I'll try to dig deeper / do research and understand it eventually :)
Brad
@bradtaniguchi
@TCzechowski Yes, you can learn a lot from the solutions by looking up anything you don't understand in them. It's also good to at least know there's alternatives to learn later if you can't learn them now :D
TCzechowski
@TCzechowski
@bradtaniguchi Sometimes it's like learning new language - I understand random words in a sentence but can't understand the full meaning of it :P
this meme says it all :D
Brad
@bradtaniguchi
@TCzechowski haha yes

Hello every one I am a frontend developer . I been doing this from one year I am intermediary in html css is and angular. I would like to make to make some friends in the same stream that I am in and would like to talk to them orally, through Skype. I could help you and I can explain you thing if you are new to web development and same I true if any one who knows much can teach me. So any one wants to become friends with me Skype so that we can have conversations on Skype and talk about frontend.
Don't take this wrongly forms are great form of helping each other, but my intention is oral communication can improve our communication skills and knowledge in tech.

@matrixersp
I know this is unrelated but can some please tell me what -D flag means in npm i -D
AJ Brommy
@AJ-Brommy
@matrixersp what is this in relation too? is this a linux shell command?
Mohammed Boudad
@matrixersp
@AJ-Brommy I'm trying to install a dependency with npm, but I don't know what -D refer to
Googling it doesn't give me any results
AJ Brommy
@AJ-Brommy
unfortunately i don't even know what npm is lol
think i've found the answer to that now - a package manager for JavaScript?
Mohammed Boudad
@matrixersp
@AJ-Brommy It's okay friend, Yeh I know what npm is, what I don't understand is the flag -D I haven't seen it before
AJ Brommy
@AJ-Brommy
-D: --save-dev
I think this might be what you are looking for : https://docs.npmjs.com/misc/config

save-dev
Default: false
Type: Boolean
Save installed packages to a package.json file as devDependencies.

When used with the npm rm command, it removes it from the devDependencies object.

Only works if there is already a package.json file present.

Mohammed Boudad
@matrixersp
@AJ-Brommy Ah okay, thanks a lot
You saved my day
AJ Brommy
@AJ-Brommy
no probs :) glad it's helped :)
Mohammed Boudad
@matrixersp
I feel stupid, I should've taken a look at the doc
AJ Brommy
@AJ-Brommy
no worries - all part of learning :)
Mohammed Boudad
@matrixersp
Yeh, it happens sometimes, we get stuck at trivial things
AJ Brommy
@AJ-Brommy
yup

@thodorisanta
quick question. Is it "wrong" or bad practice or anything that to align something vertically i put display: flex; align-items: center; ? i mean..im only putting flex on it to display it in the center vertically. even if it is a single item.
AJ Brommy
@AJ-Brommy
there are vertical align options
but i don't think they work initial quite as one my think, i can't remember. I think you need to get the height to be 100% first or something.
Victor Popescu
@VicPopescu
@thodorisanta align-items: center; will vertically align items inside that element
not a bad practice
you can use align-self too
AJ Brommy
@AJ-Brommy
yeah seems i might have been wrong - i can't get things to work as i thought lol
