Hello! I need some help please with portfolio page challenge. https://yozhikvtumane.github.io/fcc-portfolio/ in projects section I have those boxes made with flex, and when you resize page they become with different height
Can I get a hint how to fix it please?
yozhikvtumane
@yozhikvtumane
Alrighty, I added word-break: break-all and it's fine now, but I don't like how text breaks letter by letter

anyone here?

@thodorisanta
i noticed that in this chalenge: https://learn.freecodecamp.org/javascript-algorithms-and-data-structures/basic-data-structures/-iterate-through-the-keys-of-an-object-with-a-for---in-statement
when i use:
function countOnline(obj) {
  // change code below this line
  let i=0;
  for(let user in obj){
    if(obj.user.online === true){
       i++;
    }
  }
  return i;
  // change code above this line
}
it doesnt even return anything
so i tried using brackets, so instead of obj.user.online. i used : obj[user]["online"]
and it works
can someone please explain me why?
yozhikvtumane
@yozhikvtumane
Because user here is not a key but a variable, and you try to access through a key name
try to add console.log(user) inside a loop to see what I mean
Spyrantis Theodoros
@thodorisanta
@yozhikvtumane if i write it like this : user.online it shows in the console the same thing as this obj[user]["online"]
yozhikvtumane
@yozhikvtumane
How does the object look like? @thodorisanta

is there a way where using dot (".") will be more efficient than brackets?
Aditya
@ezioda004
@thodorisanta Efficient? Both bracket and dot access has its use cases. In short dot access is a subset of bracket access.
Spyrantis Theodoros
@thodorisanta
@ezioda004 yeah but my understanding from the above is that brackets can do everything dot can do but dot cant do what i tried above. So im basically asking if there would be a case where brackets wont work and dot will do the job.
Aditya
@ezioda004
@thodorisanta Bracket would cover all the cases where dot works but vice versa isnt true. The advantage of using dot access is the readability/simpler syntax.

@thodorisanta
@ezioda004 thats what i thought. thanks!

@krckyboy Awesome site. Love the images and effects. Not really digging the positioning and sizes of the typography on the landing page. If possible , try to logophy (is that a word?) the John's Bar text by adding a border or something like that. Just my 0.02 cents.

Hello,
does anyone know how to align-center my brand class in responsive view mode so it's horizontally centered? I made this pen with bootstrap:

@bradley1492 I'm not sure if it's the best way, but it works

I don't know if someone here familiar with PHP but I wonder is pure php without a framework + mysql is enough ? or do you have to learn a framwork in order to build somehing with them
I'm still learning pure php that's why asked
@bradley1492 Do you want to center it with pure CSS or flexbox?
@bradley1492 or was that a bootstrap question?
Lia-Sue-Kim
@Lia-Sue-Kim
@bradley1492 with pure css you can center horizontally if your element is block element by using margins. let's assume you have a navbar with height of 50px if you were to center something horizontally you could use margin: 0 auto;
your nav links you could center vertically by setting line-height: 50px;
if your nav's height is 50px;
like this
nav ul li a {
line-height: 50px;
}
Lia-Sue-Kim
@Lia-Sue-Kim
with flexbox
  1. horizontally = justify-content: center;
  2. vertically = align-items: center;
Stevegolden12
@Stevegolden12
@bradley1492 @Lia-Sue-Kim In bootstrap 4 the classes would be: justify-content-center and align-items-center.
Hope that helps.

hello

@Stevegolden12 https://codepen.io/mandeep4243/pen/pQYRzw

i m willing to bring that add note button in line with input box can u pls see to that
Thanks in advance

Claudio Restifo
@Marmiz

@mandeephub if you head over navbar docs you see that they reccomend working with spacing and flex utilities to create a layout. That's because navbar has a more "strict" markup due to its intended "limited" usage.

In the example you see they use a form-inline element as a direct child of nav (not a container-fluid).

My suggestion is, if you want to keep the container-fluid / row system inside the navbar is to use auto layout columns

@mandeephub
@Marmiz thanks for that i have updated that now y its going down on xs
Claudio Restifo
@Marmiz
@mandeephub I suggest you keeping a documentation page open, and read it often., there's no xs breakpoint in BS 4
