ram's in the box, I think my older ram is pretty damn slow tho so its pulling it down. Going to overclock and check out the old ram specs to see if it really is that "slow". I might get rid of it just for faster ram
Now I gotta decide if I want to upgrade my HD to an SSD, or stick it out and wait to build the ultimate machine in a few years haha
can someone tell me why i am getting a blank li tag?

Hi. Could someone please let me know if the following description of commonjs correct: CommonJS is a standard that provides a way of defining modules and establishing their dependencies in JS.
Thanks.

@cmccormack you use 2 monitors?
@bjorno43 you also use 2 monitors
may i know what inches?
and that big beezel is right infront of your eyes?

Many of my colleagues have two 20" or even 24" monitors. Important advice: Don't mix different models (like different pixel density, or different white points, or glossy/matte), this gets annoying.

@cmccormack Did you use D3 or Charts JS for voting app?
Christopher McCormack
@cmccormack
May 30 2018 15:31
@NJM8 chartjs
I tried out Victory as well, it was OK but I liked the aesthetics of chartjs more
Nate Mallison
@NJM8
May 30 2018 15:31
ok thanks
yup, started with ChartsJS, super easy
Christopher McCormack
@cmccormack
May 30 2018 15:32
yeah, and the React components make it even easier, very nice
@NJM8 you using React?
Nate Mallison
@NJM8
May 30 2018 15:47
ewwww, no
haha
I decided to learn Vue

@Blauelf so you are saying 2 monitors, but both monitors should be identical
I have mcbook air 2017
i am thinking to attach 2 external monitors with it
I feel like to have udemy tutorial on one monitor
coding on other monitor and may be one chrome browser opened side wise
if i can make these . 3 windows open at same time
it should increase my productivity
Christopher McCormack
@cmccormack
May 30 2018 15:59
On my mac I feel more productive just using the laptop by itself, using the different desktops and the 4 finger swipe
only use external monitor for watching video while doing something else
@ankur1163 but if you're buying new monitors, two of the same type is usually nice. many of us just upgrade one at a time so have different sizes
Jason Luboff
@JLuboff
May 30 2018 16:02
If it can be avoided...I would always stick with matching monitors. Two different monitors even at the same size will be very difficult to get same color, etc.
Gulsvi
@gulsvi
May 30 2018 16:03
I have two different monitors and my laptop acts as a 3rd monitor sitting in its docking station.
Nate Mallison
@NJM8
May 30 2018 16:05
I tried an external monitor and it is such a different size/ resolution/ orientation that I found it to be easier to just do like @cmccormack and use the 4 finger swipe
plus my laptop struggles to run the extra monitor

Hi all, is there any tool to compressed image from another website without download the image first?
Gulsvi
@gulsvi
May 30 2018 16:12
@padunk You can paste a URL into the file -> open dialog. No need to save it locally, find it, and then open it.
abraham anak agung
@padunk
May 30 2018 16:16
@gulsvi what you mean by open dialog? sorry i'm new to this thing
Gulsvi
@gulsvi
May 30 2018 16:18
@padunk For example:
  1. Visit: https://tinypng.com/
  2. Click "Drop your .png or .jpg files here!"
  3. A File Open dialog appears. Paste the URL in the "File Name" text field and click "Open"

Anybody have a short but decent read on React? Only on my phone today and stuck at UCLA so...need something to do/read
Christopher McCormack
@cmccormack
May 30 2018 16:21
@JLuboff The React docs are really good https://reactjs.org/docs/hello-world.html
@JLuboff I would also suggest searching Medium for React, there are millions of starting out articles on React

Cool I’ll take a look. Thanks! Figured I’d study that a bit along with SQL stuff
Christopher McCormack

May 30 2018 16:23
@JLuboff I would recommend reading up on JSX as well - React uses it (although it doesn't have to) and JSX is really cool even if you don't use React
Makes for some very declarative code if done correctly

seems like they should just make their courses all $10. I wonder how many people fall for the "it's usually $200 but now it's $10!" marketing scheme
I bet 75% of their revenue is from people who do that then never finish the course

@cmccormack Do you know where the mouseOver colors on the charts come from ? mine seem to have left the building
@richRocksCodeBlocks I'm glad you knew his name or took the time to look it up. Very good instructor.
Christopher McCormack
@cmccormack
May 30 2018 17:16
@Chrono79 ouch that's the worst, don't get a dry socket!
@NJM8 I thought it was derived from the colors you set
let me check mine

Nate Mallison

May 30 2018 17:23
@cmccormack nvm, I guess it was because I was using 'red' 'green' and 'blue', solid colors. I switched to something transparent with rgba and it's great
Diego Mayer
@Chrono79
May 30 2018 17:23
I didn't feel anything during the surgery, but after...
Nate Mallison
@NJM8
May 30 2018 17:24
@cmccormack one more for you, did you do anything with the click events provided? Looks like you can have click events on the chart elements themselves but I don't see examples
Christopher McCormack
@cmccormack
May 30 2018 17:25
@NJM8 ah that makes sense, I used an hsla with a random hue so I must have had transparency in there
@NJM8 I did but just for testing, and removed them.
@NJM8 looks like you setup an events: ['click'] property in your options as well as an onClick property with a callback
Christopher McCormack
@cmccormack
May 30 2018 17:32
@NJM8 tested here
Nate Mallison
@NJM8
May 30 2018 17:34
Thanks i got it working, just gotta figure out how to pull what was clicked on, looks like the event target is the entire thing
Christopher McCormack
@cmccormack
May 30 2018 17:35
@NJM8 there's a second parameter as well that contains an array that may be more useful
Nate Mallison
