ummm
i know hexa numbers but how i use it ??
and what is octal ?
Moisés Man
@moigithub
Aug 14 2018 01:03
0123456789abcdef <-- hexadecimal use that set of values (16 )
0123456789 <-- decimal (10 )
01 <-- binary (2)
012345678 <-- octal (8)
Fikry82
@Fikry82
Aug 14 2018 01:04
okay
function convertToInteger(str) {
  return parseInt(str, 2);
}

convertToInteger("10011");
Moisés Man
@moigithub
Aug 14 2018 01:05
parseInt converts whatever string value u pass (with a radix to identify what numeric system it uses) to a Integer number
Fikry82
@Fikry82
Aug 14 2018 01:05
okay but how she use the system
in this case why 2 " i didt it buy luck " :)
in this case will use octal system
Moisés Man
@moigithub
Aug 14 2018 01:07
u said u know hexadecimal
FF0000 <-- red color.. using hexadecimal system
Fikry82
@Fikry82
Aug 14 2018 01:07
yes
Moisés Man
@moigithub
Aug 14 2018 01:08
if u want convert that to integer (parseInt always convert whatever system to decimal)
parseInt("FF0000", 16) --> 16711680
Fikry82
@Fikry82
Aug 14 2018 01:08
i understand how it works with colors but not here
why you use 16 ???
Moisés Man
@moigithub
Aug 14 2018 01:09
cuz FF0000 is a hexadecimal value
Fikry82
@Fikry82
Aug 14 2018 01:09
umm should be decimal
Moisés Man
@moigithub
Aug 14 2018 01:09
:point_up: 13 de agosto de 2018 20:03
from 0 to F there are 16 digits <-- thats why its called base16
Fikry82
@Fikry82
Aug 14 2018 01:10
If the string begins with "0x", the radix is 16 (hexadecimal)
If the string begins with "0", the radix is 8 (octal). This feature is deprecated
If the string begins with any other value, the radix is 10 (decimal)
Moisés Man
@moigithub
Aug 14 2018 01:10

radix identify what numeric base is ur string

parseInt always convert whatever system to decimal)

soo u only need to specify the source
Fikry82
@Fikry82
Aug 14 2018 01:11
don
dont get it yet
but thx

@cmccormack u know how u can make it use the build folder? I dont understand hos it doesnt work. It doesnt work with path resolve or join
Christopher McCormack
@cmccormack
Aug 14 2018 01:17
@Pagnito you can modify your publicPath in your webpack output section and see if that fixes it, try publicPath: '/'
Pagnito
@Pagnito
Aug 14 2018 01:18
Oooh truuuuuuuu
omg
Now it makes sense
Omfg
Lol
Christopher McCormack
@cmccormack
Aug 14 2018 01:20
what you might want to do is use something like webpack --env.production and in your webpack config set publicPath based on if env.production is true or not
By default it may pass a production value as well I can't remember
Pagnito
@Pagnito

hey im having a hard time with ScrollTo()
i hate that it jumps to the top of the page every time its about to scroll
anyone have any solutions?
Claudio Restifo
@Marmiz
Aug 14 2018 04:22
@Pagnito what does your function looks like?
Pagnito
@Pagnito
Aug 14 2018 04:54
@Marmiz
        var int = setInterval(function() {
                window.scrollTo(0, i);
                i += 10;
                if (i >= 550) clearInterval(int);
            }, 8);
alpox
@alpox
Aug 14 2018 05:38
@Pagnito why not just use the smooth option of scrollTo instead of using an interval?
Pagnito
@Pagnito
Aug 14 2018 05:38
i tried
@alpox
for some reason it wont work O.o
it scrolls like 200 pxs no matter how much i tell it to
yea i just tried it again and it doesnt work for some reason
im using react so maybe that has somethin to do wit it
alpox
@alpox
Aug 14 2018 05:44
Depends on the context
React shouldnt really interfer
But do you have other scroll influencing code?
Pagnito
@Pagnito
Aug 14 2018 05:57
oh nvm i put it outside the function by accident, its working now but i dont rly like how its working
it either scrolls too lil or too much
when my page first loads up it only scrolls lke 200 px
but then after that it will work properly
but the initial scroll is the only one that matters
Pagnito
@Pagnito
Aug 14 2018 06:12
i found a pretty neat package
react-scroll
i swear its always the lil things that take all the time in the world
Claudio Restifo
@Marmiz
Aug 14 2018 06:56
@Pagnito you want to scroll top or to a specific position?
cos many browsers supports scrollIntoView and it has the animation effect for you :)
(like 'smooth')
Pagnito
@Pagnito
Aug 14 2018 06:56
oh ya i tried that too >.<
i rly like the scroll-react tho
i think ima stay wit it
Claudio Restifo
@Marmiz
Aug 14 2018 06:57

catalin560
@catalin560
Aug 14 2018 12:55

@tundeiness what do you mean?

#navbar {
    height: 90vh;
}

seems to work just fine

tundeiness
@tundeiness
Aug 14 2018 13:03
@catalin560 the height using #navbar does not work intuitively using height: 90vh. However I have fixed this using the "ul" to set the height . You can check it out now to see what I am talking about. One more favor please. after running test on the interface, the total pass is 10 out 16. can you help take a look at why everything is not passing? Thanks

When I click on a navbar element, the page should navigate to the corresponding section of the "main-doc" element (e.g. If I click on a "nav-link" element that contains the text "Hello world", the page navigates to a <section> element that has that id and contains the corresponding <header>."

hey lets sayim building an article site and i have lot of artcles, and i wanna do what alot of other sites to render them on the home page without slowindown rendering. It seems like they only render only some of the articles until the user scrolls down and then more of em are rendered and so on
Jason Luboff
@JLuboff
Aug 14 2018 20:40
Yes
While I've never done it myself...I would think to on page load, get the first 5 articles (for example) and then on scroll get next 5 or whatever
Christopher McCormack
@cmccormack
Aug 14 2018 20:51
yeah you could do it by scroll position or whatever, I'm guessing that's what all those neverending scroll sites do
