@cmccormack yea im using atm, im not sure tho why its still not showing up in the console, i checked fb and it seems they dont show up in the console there either, maybe it doesnt show sometimes or something but its still there, ima console.log in the terminal
oh wait they arent in the req.headers
this is really interesting
@Pagnito saw that one
it is
good enough for my gaming
Pagnito
@Pagnito
Dec 17 2018 01:30 UTC
for hardcore gamers this is a great service and the price isnt bad if u just pay up upfront for a whole year or more
I feel like the hardcore people won't like it, because it does add a tiny bit of latency
the super hardcore anyway
listened to this on a road trip I just got back from, ...it was interesting http://www.fullstackradio.com/101
Pagnito
@Pagnito
Dec 17 2018 01:38 UTC
ooo, interesting
i like the name
yea, it was good
@Pagnito if you end up listening to it and want to make something together, let me know
Pagnito
@Pagnito
Dec 17 2018 01:46 UTC
hell ya
im listening to it now
8 min in
atm im working on a project, im almost done with it, if u want ill show u in a few min, ima just add a mobile navbar to it, then ill send u a link
but ya my point is im almost done wit it
and then i can start with something new
lets see it
Pagnito
@Pagnito
Dec 17 2018 02:06 UTC
im struggling right with deciding whether i should keep css grid for it
but yea ima give u a link in a sec
Pagnito
@Pagnito
Dec 17 2018 02:16 UTC
cant understand why my botton nav for mobile isnt showin up atm, it shows up in brave, hopefuly it has something to do with cache, but when clear cache it still doesnt show up, but yea this is what i got atm https://gif-fer.firebaseapp.com
@moT01
@Pagnito looks good, sort of - what's the problem, and what are you trying to make happen
Pagnito
@Pagnito
Dec 17 2018 02:28 UTC
well its not really a problem, this is jus a fun lil thing to communicate, i started it to learn more about pwa, security, and not im gonna dockerize it. but as i was doing it, i realized even giphy doesnt have a feature to make gifs from ur phone camera, and its making gifs tool isnt very user friendly, now im actually thinking about making it official and just see if anyone will have fun using it
bu if there is a problem its solving its the one where u might not find the RIGHT gif to send, so u jus make ur own, and hopefully, il find ways to incorporate as many share links as possible to make it easy to use and quik
so a user doesnt have to save it on their phone and do that whole thing with going into downloads folder etc
if i can find a way to have whatsapp sharelink, that would be dooope
Im having trouble uploading, I clicked don't allow and it's not asking me again
Pagnito
@Pagnito
Dec 17 2018 02:31 UTC
yea cuz the browser remembers that decision
u have to clear ur site data
the cache
and try again
or u can change that decision
click on the lock before the url
my private window seems stuck
Pagnito
@Pagnito
Dec 17 2018 02:32 UTC
private window?
I opened a private window to have a clear cashe and stuff
the little css loader won't stop laoding
btw, I've used that loader
looks good
Pagnito
@Pagnito
Dec 17 2018 02:33 UTC
haha yea its my fav
what page r u on
i dont think a fresh window will clear the cache
you've got a nice variety of faces
Pagnito
@Pagnito
Dec 17 2018 02:34 UTC
lmao
yea alota testing right there
is it still stuck on loading?
@moT01 were u able to get it to load?
I couldn't get it to upload
Pagnito
@Pagnito
Dec 17 2018 02:42 UTC
what browser r u using?
I was able to get it to save a gif on me from my camera
can't get it to upload right
firefox, latest
Pagnito
@Pagnito
Dec 17 2018 02:42 UTC
aah
yea
i still cant figure that one out
for some reason it doesnt fire that upload function right now with firefox
im actually gonna solve that issue now
but u should try it in chrome
its faster in chrome too
cuz it supports webp
and i serve about 5 thousand less kb of images in chrome
gifs*
ha, there I am
Pagnito
@Pagnito
Dec 17 2018 02:46 UTC
haha
well, it worked on chrome
Pagnito
@Pagnito
Dec 17 2018 02:46 UTC
yea and in firefox the canvas captures it right
i dunno y in firefox it squeezes it
oooh shit i seee uu
on the phone, u can use back camera too, and make gifs out other ppl
and firefox isnt givin any errors either as to why its not firin that function T.T
once i deploy it fully, ima add feature where u can make a meme out of whichever frame u want
cuz those frames are gold
hahaha
that's great
Pagnito
@Pagnito
Dec 17 2018 02:50 UTC
thnx
oh, im having too much now
I better quit while im ahead
Pagnito
@Pagnito
Dec 17 2018 02:57 UTC
haha
before I moon the camera
Pagnito
@Pagnito
Dec 17 2018 02:57 UTC
those are pretty gold gifs u made haha
lmao
u acn try and up the frames and lower the or higher the intervals to get a longer or slower gif
its great man, I am so entertained
Pagnito
@Pagnito
Dec 17 2018 03:02 UTC
thnx
can you see the ones I don't upload?
hhahaha
on man
Pagnito
@Pagnito
Dec 17 2018 03:04 UTC
i think its failing my 'serviceWorker' in navigator check, but then it should sttil handle that in the else statement, damn firefox!!!
if u dont upload it i cant see it
I hope not
Pagnito
@Pagnito
Dec 17 2018 03:04 UTC
lmao
this is so simple and fantastic
Pagnito
@Pagnito
Dec 17 2018 03:06 UTC
haha sweet, that was my aim
and u can comminate ur exact thought with that perfect emotional exxageration that gif provides whenever u textin someone, that is ofcouse once i can implement share link for native phone message app
but for now it got fb msngr the others
if i can just make it work jus as perfect in firefox ill b satsifed
yea it seems firefox doesnt support background sync
thats why its failing my if statement
so how did you make it
ive used firebase, so you can skip that part
little camera capture to gif, I suppose I could probably figure that out
but, great man
Pagnito
@Pagnito
Dec 17 2018 03:15 UTC
other than that its jus react, webpack, on the backend i convert gifs to webp and save em as a copy for browsers that support webp, kind of proud of that part even tho i used a library, i jst love the fact that i optimized that performance lol. But yea, im guessin u alrdy figured i used inteval with canvas to capture those images, then i giffed them with a npm package
im thinkin about removing css grid
or actually nah
who uses sfari anyways
the people that used to use ie8
heard about this new thing
sent you a message from my group chat room
Pagnito
@Pagnito

that's a hefty sidetrack
but, whatever
yea, it took about the whole two years, but I got all the certs not long ago
Pagnito
@Pagnito
Dec 17 2018 03:27 UTC
niiice
yea hefty is a understatement, i woke up one day and felt as if coding was jus a phase and i got scared, but i knew i had to be real with myself, thankfully, not long after that i got tired of the unfulfillment of a video game and here im

Pagnito
@Pagnito
Dec 17 2018 03:33 UTC

Varun allen singh

i got 79 only
i got it right after so long finally
it avgTemperatures in place of AVG_TEMPERATURES
Mohammed Boudad

Dec 17 2018 11:46 UTC
@starboyvarun Considering the lexical scope of getTempOfTmrw(..)in your example, both work

Anyone know why you can't see the response error when using safari if there is a cors error
Christopher McCormack
@cmccormack
Dec 17 2018 15:59 UTC
doesn't the browser itself do that check? Maybe you need to enable it in the browser or toggle something
Nate Mallison
@NJM8
Dec 17 2018 16:06 UTC
Well in FF network tab I can still see the response, safari shows nothing

@JLuboff not much yourself?
Jason Luboff
@JLuboff
Dec 17 2018 16:16 UTC
Just getting started.. hope to figure out a solution to my printing issues today (where the printer thinks it needs to move an entire flexbox row to its own page as opposed to breaking it apart)
Christopher McCormack
@cmccormack
Dec 17 2018 16:16 UTC
@JLuboff does the tool your using support hidden divs or anything that may help with that?
:morning:
Christopher McCormack
@cmccormack
Dec 17 2018 16:21 UTC
@moT01 yo gm
i suppose I could be a general manager
Jason Luboff
@JLuboff
Dec 17 2018 16:24 UTC
So I'm looking at it from two perspectives, one being the normal print option within FF and the other using print-js. print-js helps in making sure it stays formatted correctly and styles are still applied. I would think that it would support hidden divs. What I'm looking at doing is trying to break my rows up though. So in this pen https://codepen.io/jluboff/pen/NergWZ the top block is what I'm currently working with. So everything is in one row, and thus will get pushed more often than not into a new page as opposed to being broken apart. I started playing around with some other stuff in the second box but haven't tested it enough
@cmccormack
But basically my idea currently is to break each row and subsequent child rows into their own completly seperate rows but requires some CSS to work right
Christopher McCormack
@cmccormack
Dec 17 2018 16:27 UTC
wow nice job with the responsiveness on that
Jason Luboff
@JLuboff
Dec 17 2018 16:29 UTC
Its all bulma so...I take no credit. Kind of funny that I'm not even thinking about responsiveness with this when I probably should :joy:
Christopher McCormack
@cmccormack
Dec 17 2018 16:29 UTC
@JLuboff well good luck mang hope you figure this one out soon
Jason Luboff
@JLuboff
Dec 17 2018 16:30 UTC
Thanks...I think it's just going to end up being an ugly number of divs that or do something without using Bulma for that specific items
Christopher McCormack
@cmccormack
Dec 17 2018 16:32 UTC
you can push the data to a special print page right?
Jason Luboff
@JLuboff
Dec 17 2018 16:33 UTC
Ya which is what I'm doing although for this area of the print page, I'm reusing a component that displays the same data on a prior page
But I'm starting to think that its not going to work for this hehe
Christopher McCormack
@cmccormack
Dec 17 2018 16:43 UTC
yeah that's rough, don't want to necessarily make all new components just to print, but may have to
Jason Luboff
@JLuboff
Dec 17 2018 16:45 UTC
Ya oh well. Not the worst thing in the world :)
Christopher McCormack
@cmccormack
Dec 17 2018 16:50 UTC
you could add a print prop to all your components and render based on that prop :)
Jason Luboff
@JLuboff
Dec 17 2018 16:50 UTC
That is what I'm doing already to an extent (i.e changing to smaller font sizes, modifying some colors, border, etc)
Christopher McCormack
@cmccormack
Dec 17 2018 16:50 UTC
that would be pretty powerful and reusable actually
oh cool
are you just using different classNames or actually rendering the elements differently?
Jason Luboff
@JLuboff
Dec 17 2018 17:00 UTC
Mainly different classNames i.e <p className={props.print ? "is-size-7" : "is-size-5"}>

Dec 17 2018 17:11 UTC
@cmccormack Have you worked with prettier + webpack? I'm looking for hot reload prettier config with webpack
Christopher McCormack
@cmccormack
Dec 17 2018 17:12 UTC
@ezioda004 hot reload? Why would prettier care about that?
Can't you have your editor do it automatically on save?
webpack is a bundler, you probably don't want to prettier the output
Aditya
@ezioda004
Dec 17 2018 17:13 UTC
@cmccormack Suppose its for a project, worked on by few people
And I want to enforce prettier config on their code
Christopher McCormack
@cmccormack
Dec 17 2018 17:14 UTC
can you make that part of your scripts instead?
Aditya
@ezioda004
Dec 17 2018 17:14 UTC
Like?
Christopher McCormack
@cmccormack
Dec 17 2018 17:15 UTC
I believe if you run prettier it will look for a .prettierrc or similar file, so maybe have your script run a pretty script prior to running the main script
there may be a way to enforce it within git as well but I've not played with it
Jason Luboff
@JLuboff
Dec 17 2018 17:15 UTC
Ya I would think that would be a shared config for prettier or the linter
Aditya
@ezioda004
Dec 17 2018 17:16 UTC
So that script should be ran by webpack right?
Christopher McCormack
@cmccormack
Dec 17 2018 17:16 UTC
no

Christopher McCormack
@cmccormack
Dec 17 2018 17:26 UTC
you can extend eslint with it as well https://prettier.io/docs/en/eslint.html
@ezioda004 this is what I meant earlier, you could run this as a command prior to your build or dev or whatever https://prettier.io/docs/en/watching-files.html
using npm-run-all or similar

see you need a product owner to filter that stuff
Jason Luboff
@JLuboff
Dec 17 2018 18:55 UTC
@cmccormack they are the product owner :(
Its not a huge change..but.. basically not allowing fields that were required to no longer be required..so that it can be written in...which.. sort of defeats the purpose..

Jason Luboff
@JLuboff
Dec 17 2018 19:43 UTC
@bradtaniguchi Yup. Its like the whole purpose of this project is to limit the amount of writing thats required..
Brad
@bradtaniguchi
Dec 17 2018 19:48 UTC
I blame management, if the user's told us what they wanted it would be so much clearer (and more expensive but that ain't my problem hehe)
Also I think I crashed VSCode by leaving my headset on the spacebar and leaving for 5 mins...

@JLuboff that's a pretty good purpose though

Ya.. its supposed to reduce the amount of writing along with the amount of time to fill these forms out

Can you push back on that requirement, try to find out what additional options they may add, and explain that making it a variable might make it less useful @JLuboff ?

I did push back but his argument is that currently some individuals will print out say 20 forms at one time and then just write in the location and date.. I said well.. ya they could do that this way too. Maybe it'll take them slightly longer but.. eh... I'm sure it'll change closer to project completion :joy:

...print out?
they don't have holographic wrist data devices yet??

I'll just make a commit with a message like "Removed required on fields XXX" so I can go back to it
Unfortunately not. We're too cheap for that :P
but ya they still need to be printed for the purpose of signing (all individuals need to sign to acknowledge they read it)

I think technically they're supposed to have it with them while doing the described work as well

Wow sounds so similar to a project I did last year. Turned into dookie UX and UI wise haha

Lol
Hopefully it won't be too much of a dookie :)
It definitely will aid in creating more accurate analysis' of jobs

One of those "We need to see all 32 properties for each row on the screen no matter what!". Very much "excel" like, even tho it turned a .1 second query into a 3 second one :/

3 second query? Was it a lot of data?
Brad
@bradtaniguchi
Dec 17 2018 20:10 UTC
yes, and they wanted to see like 8 tables worth of data, and like the first 100 rows. I might be exaggeration (been over a year), but it wasn't fast
It was the project with the 8 hour report generation :P

Sounds like the database needed some indexes but then again... it could just be a slow query if its having to do so many joins
Brad
@bradtaniguchi
Dec 17 2018 20:12 UTC
The 8 hour one was due to the original team doing the query the dumbest way possible (load all data, use triple nested for loops to manually go through everything)

Wait...wait...wait
You're telling me... that instead of letting the Database Engine do its job...literally whats its designed to do...
They instead pulled all the data to the app than processed it in the app????

Ya adding the disabled attribute should work
