@DreadKnight goddamit, after all those years doing everything in my power to not register in reddit, now I feel obliged to register just to mess around /ancientbeast/ :P

haha
@Zephyrum it kinda seems like a forum and there are lots of useful ones using the same account; seen games having nice communities on reddit and I'm starting to get quite a few game devs thanks to reddit nowadays
and even opportunities... there's an Intel game dev competition, AB is pretty much eligible even if broken atm, but deadline is in 8 days, sigh

Yeah, seen the same myself. The game I've been talking about a lot in this chatroom, EU4, also has a large reddit group
But I never actually tried to register. :P
Anyhow, be right back; need a potty break

and it's quite simple and straightforward to use, but kinda keeps people a little bit mysterious, there aren't even avatars or basic info xD

nvm; my brother beat me to the bathroom. ;_;
yeah, I miss avatars a lot
I identify people by their avatars in basically everything

I didn't liked it when facebook made avatars bigger, basically forcing people to use photos of themselves, lame move
and also that now it forces people to use real names; but it's "face book" after all, heh
anyway, I recall you change avatars a lot yourself; and you don't have a custom one around here xD

big avatars = easier to see = allows you to pick more detailed pictures ;)
Dread Knight
@DreadKnight
May 16 2016 01:11
yes, but avatars all around are usually small and that's the way they should be
only on profile (fb) you see big avatar; but in messenger and all the other places, they're small
so lots of details in a small avatars = garbage
Zephyrum
@Zephyrum
May 16 2016 01:12
And about the real name, well, that's easy to lie about, unless you actually want a custom name of some sorts
Well, I like facebook's perfect sizing on the timeline/messenger/profile and stuff. It Most websites just set 2~3 sizes.

yeah, in a few years big social networks might ask for an ID during sign-up perhaps, blizzard is doing that sort of thing for their forum registration I think

@Zephyrum

but then again, it's made for you to be, well, YOU. so naturally the focus is on your persona

yup

And I don't have a custom avatar here due to 1) laziness 2) I spend little time here
If I spent longer than 5~10 minutes every wekk I'd change
And, hey, the byzantine flag is quite beautiful anyway =p
Dread Knight
@DreadKnight
May 16 2016 01:14
actually they want to avoid personas, unless you're uber popular, but that's the reason fb pages exist
yeah, kinda looks like that flag xD
oh it is, actually
Zephyrum
@Zephyrum
May 16 2016 01:14
it is the byzantine flag
lol

github tends to generate / assign avatars that are somewhat similar in style

gotcha :)
wondering if to aim for that competition... would burn all my money in the process and even some; but could get project on track, gain momentum, popularity and even money prizes, mrrr
@cxong online by any chance?

Well, reddit is free, so no upkeep cost; even though it doesn't integrate with the game in anyway atm, it's alright; managed to theme it nicely so far
should do until I have a nice server to host a discours instance, which I don't know how theme friendly is, but it's pretty ok by default

@cxong still doing some testing; anyway, there's a competition this project is eligible for (ideally if fixed) so I wanted a few details, like how long did it took so far to patch Swine Thug, how much do you usually charge and do you have a day job atm? as the deadline for the competition is in about 8 days, trying to decide if to rush for it or wait for next year...
Cong
@cxong
May 16 2016 03:42
hard to say because I didn't time myself; maybe half an hour or less per commit, 8 hours so far.
I haven't really charged for coding before, my day job is approx. 28 usd per hour equivalent, but considering this is an open source game I don't expect that much.
I can probably spend up to 12 hours per week on this project; any more depends on whether I have free time.
Dread Knight
@DreadKnight
May 16 2016 03:44
Understood, assuming those 12 hours are if you get paid something fair :D
Mhm, quite a bit of time synched into patching up Swine Thug so far; hopefully @Zephyrum here will appreciate playing him eventually, since I recall it was one of his favorite units design wise
When I've all those issues initially, was close to getting cold feet regarding the design of some abilities and wanted to simplify things; but that would have probably made the abilities less interesting and less unique

Hey, so what, specifically, would you like to prioritise in your project? Or will I just pick a random thing labled as 'priority' and start hacking away? Can do php & javascript, never worked with phaser, but I'm sure I'll figure it out. More experienced with php.
