Andeye
@Andeye
hehe, "in the beginning nodeplayer was a software to get the URL for Rick Astley - Never gonna give you up from Google Music" ;)
Andeye
@Andeye
men jännä koncept att de är en shuffle du int kan påverka
men sen när man vet hur dåligt deras radio funkar xD
Rasmus Eskola
@FruitieX
dom frågar nuförtiden snällt av dig vad du gillar för sorts musik & att välja några artister du speciellt gillar
så radion är säkert bättre nu än förr
Andeye
@Andeye
ja tvivlar, förr så klicka man på en artist å sa shuffle artist eller spela radio enligt artisten
å de va bara skit va som kom
bytte genre ganska lätt till allt för långt ifrån

Hi FruitieX, first off thanks so much for the nodeplayer package. I was about to start building something very similar and I found this, saved me quite a bit of time! I have everything set up, I can add a song, etc, however I cannot actually hear anything being played. If I use the weblistener, then I can hear it through the browser.

However, what if I just want to use the browser to control the server, and have the audio come through the server?

Rasmus Eskola
@FruitieX
oh wow, hey
yeah, it's quite different from mpd and mopidy and the likes, in that you always need a separate client that plays back the music
@anitgandhi there's this, however https://github.com/FruitieX/nodeplayer-player
i haven't really worked on this project (nodeplayer) in a long while, should pick it up again
Anit Gandhi
@anitgandhi
Ah great thanks! So hypothetically a backend module could be written to play the music through ffplay?
Rasmus Eskola
@FruitieX
yeah, or a plugin rather
let me know if you do write that! :)
Anit Gandhi
@anitgandhi
I'm trying to figure out how to get nodeplayer-player running. Are you supposed to install it globally? If so, how do you run it since there's no executable?
Rasmus Eskola
@FruitieX
just node index.js should do (after a npm install)
it reads the config from the same place as nodeplayer
hmm note that it only supports authentication via TLS client auth or HTTP basic auth
Rasmus Eskola
@FruitieX
so no support for the passport module currently
it should be possible to add with not too much effort though...
and you're right, nodeplayer-player should really be an executable and prefer being installed globally (and have a better name :))
Anit Gandhi
@anitgandhi
No worries on the passport stuff, don't need it right now :P
I think I tried node index.js but it said it couldn't find the config file. Do you have to npm install in a specific place?
Rasmus Eskola
@FruitieX
if you cloned nodeplayer-player from git, then you should run npm install inside the repo directory
apologies for things being a bit rough to set up. That is still a little unfinished...
Anit Gandhi
@anitgandhi
Ahh ok. No worries at all, just finding this project has made my life easier!
Rasmus Eskola
@FruitieX
awesome! you are the first one that i hear is using it
i didn't spread the word about it very much yet since i feel it is still very unfinished
pull requests are welcome if you do implement something new :)
Andeye
@Andeye
heh :P
