    We'll be having an online CoFest next Friday, August 17; everyone is welcome to join: https://www.open-bio.org/wiki/CoFest_2018_August
    Looking forward to continuing all the great work from GCCBOSC.
    Brad Langhorst
    @bwlang
    love that idea - i never quite finished the projects I worked on.
    Brad Chapman
    @chapmanb
    Nice one, hope you can make it for at least part of the day.
    Carrie
    @cganote
    @chapmanb do you think you'll wanna try this monthly?
    Brad Chapman
    @chapmanb
    The initial idea was every 3 months, and hoping for a bigger pre-planned event in Boston in early December. We can increase it if we have interest, right now it's more of an experiment to see if having regular sessions would benefit folks and people will be able to attend.

    Hi @/all. The CoFest will on Friday :tada:
    We detailed some ideas for the Galaxy Training Material galaxyproject/training-material#939
    Brad Chapman
    @chapmanb
    Looking forward to it, thanks for organizing from the Galaxy training side. The signup and organizational page is here: https://www.open-bio.org/wiki/CoFest_2018_August and we have a general CoFest gitter we can use and keep open for continuing to discuss CoFest projects: https://gitter.im/cofest/Lobby

    @TKlingstrom
    Is the sign up for physical attendants? I did not see one in the Wiki.
    Brad Chapman
    @chapmanb
    It would be great if you could sign up even if remote, just so we know who to expect. There is a link to the Google Doc under "Register" at the top of the wiki: https://www.open-bio.org/wiki/CoFest_2018_August
    Tomas
    @TKlingstrom
    Thanks
    I have no idea how I missed that.

    @tnabtaf
    @TKlingstrom I made it more prominent on the page after you posted your question. : - )

    Great idea to have online CoFest! Unfortunately we can't join the online discussions 'cause the first one is on Friday's evening here in Tokyo.. :p
    would be great if we could have the next online CoFest other than on Friday so that Asia Pacific people can join (eu morning, asia afternoon & us evening, asia morning of the next day)

    I am a bit late. What I have been thinking about doing is to make sure that the Asaim tutorials got full workflows available. I think I talked about this before the Summer and I am not sure in of those are available now

    @bgruening
    Welocme @TKlingstrom!
    Matúš Kalaš
    @matuskalas
    @bebatut @shiltemann @rkhetani @chapmanb I clarified the time zones to avoid confusion, and fixed one of the UTC times at https://www.open-bio.org/wiki/CoFest_2018_August#Logistics
    Saskia Hiltemann
    @shiltemann
    thanks @matuskalas :)
    Brad Chapman

    FYI, today's conversation happening over in the cofest gitter: https://gitter.im/cofest/Lobby
    Jeff Gentry
    @geoffjentry
    Not quite a JVM based SALAD but someone on my team put this together on the side and is allowing us to forego the CLI SALAD step if any other JVM folks are interested: https://github.com/broadinstitute/heterodon
    Peter Amstutz
    @tetron
    @geoffjentry that's clever
    Michael R. Crusoe
    @mr-c
    @geoffjentry Cool!

    Hog-nosed snakes

    Seems apt :-D

    Jeff Gentry
    @geoffjentry
    Heh.
    I’d still looooove to see a JVM SALAD impl for multiple reasons but this at least covers one of the key reasons and was a lot less effort. And as @tetron notes, it’s clever :)
    Michael R. Crusoe
    @mr-c
    Shall we move this conversation back to a CWL channel? :-)
    Jeff Gentry
    @geoffjentry
    Where’s the facepalm emoji when i need one. This is right below CWL on my gitter app ;)
    Michael L Heuer
    @heuermh
    Is there a save the date for BOSC 2019 conference and codefest? The newsletter notice was a bit vague on details https://github.com/OBF/newsletter/blob/master/newsletters/2019-01.md#bosc-2019-will-be-in-basel-switzerland-with-ismb
    Nomi Harris
    @nlharris
    Yes! BOSC 2019 will be July 24-25, with CoFest July 26-28. We will send out more info soon, but the rudiments are here: https://www.open-bio.org/wiki/BOSC_2019
    Michael L Heuer
    @heuermh
    Thank you, @nlharris! I added a link to that page from https://www.open-bio.org/wiki/BOSC
    Nomi Harris
    @nlharris
    Thanks!
    Will you be able to attend BOSC 2019?
    Michael L Heuer
    @heuermh
    Yes, I sure hope so, my family is Swiss and I've never been there
    Yang Xu
    @JasonYangShadow
    Looking forward to joining BOSC 2019 this year
    Nomi Harris
    @nlharris
    Hi @JasonYangShadow, we hope you’ll come to BOSC 2019! You can submit your abstract here: https://www.open-bio.org/wiki/BOSC_Abstract_Submission
    By the way, I guess we should start a new Gitter community (since we’re not going to be GCC-BOSC this year—we’ll be part of ISMB)
    Yo Yehudi
    @yochannah
    Maybe BOSC2019 in the OBF organisation?
    Nomi Harris
    @nlharris
    Yup, that’s what I realized made sense
    Peter Amstutz
    @tetron
    or just call it "BOSC" so you arn't creating a new channel every year :-)
    Nomi Harris
    @nlharris
    Good point 😃
    Nomi Harris
    @nlharris
    Here’s the new channel: https://gitter.im/OBF/BOSC_community 🍐
