Sebastian Heidbrink
@HeSe
you need nginx,...
Dale Henrichs
@dalehenrich
does the install process configure nginx?
Can I use lighttpd (which is already installed on that machine)?
Yep, it looks like I'll tear down that machine and start install from scratch ....
Sebastian Heidbrink
@HeSe
sure, you just need to have a look into the nginx.conf file and configure your lighthttpd the same way. It is in the root path of the flow distribution
did you start amber with node? or do you want to do this with lighthttpd too?
Dale Henrichs
@dalehenrich
Okay, I'll poke around there when I get a chance ... I'm just worried that doing the npm install using sudo has screwed up the installation itself ..
Sebastian Heidbrink
@HeSe
yeah,... that happend to me too... I think the trick is to install nodejs-legacy ,too,... this was a hack to prevent you from the need to sudo
Dale Henrichs
@dalehenrich
I have not read any amber documentation and there were no instructions in the flow startup mentioning starting nginx or node, so it's unclear what else I need to do
Sebastian Heidbrink
@HeSe
there is a wiki on github...
I think
and this is the conf for nginx
Dale Henrichs
@dalehenrich
I followed that list to do the installation
It used to be that you could point your web browser at the index.html file and you were good to go...
Sebastian Heidbrink
@HeSe
./startAll should start all,... mongodb, nginx,... but I am on windows and starting nginx has to be done by hand...
Dale Henrichs
@dalehenrich
I did not install mongodb or redis ...
Sebastian Heidbrink
@HeSe
/frontend/amber serve -port 3000 does the trick,...
Dale Henrichs
@dalehenrich
with nginx?
Sebastian Heidbrink
@HeSe
yes,... for the static sources
media
you should also have flow.dev point at localhost:3000
But I am not sure if this is still needed. Sebastian cleaned things up a little. I think the best would be I run through the current process myself and check if everything works now and will give you support afterwards?
What are the current version of gsApplicationTools, mappless and flow, that I shall combine for my tests?
Dale Henrichs
@dalehenrich
I think you should just be able to load the baseline of flow and everything is correctly loaded from there ...
Sebastian Heidbrink
@HeSe
So no need to reinstall the whole db for the tests?
Dale Henrichs
@dalehenrich
BTW, I am in a Pharo Consotrium meeting right now, so I am distractied at the moment
I don't know what you mean?
Sebastian Heidbrink
@HeSe
ohh we can do that later... focus on one thing!
:-P
Dale Henrichs
@dalehenrich
When would be good for you?
Sebastian Heidbrink
@HeSe
10:30ish
and later
Dale Henrichs
@dalehenrich
okay...
Sebastian Heidbrink
@HeSe
Okay,... there is something wrong. I have a call withg Sebastian in 30 minutes. I'll ask him. It seems the router does not work. Usually you could even start flwo from the amber worspace by executing "App start"
a ./cleanBuildFrontend
cd /frontend
amber serve --port 3000
should be all that's needed.. nginx is needed to redirect the REST calls to the backend and to serve the media
Sebastian Heidbrink
@HeSe
@dalehenrich @JupiterJones Hi! I just loaded the BaseConfigurationOfFlow and one bug is the already mentioned ZnFlowGemServer. The other error I found is that the Gemserver needs to listen on port 3333 right now it is initialized with 8383... Until I provide a pull request for this you may want to solve this locally.
Amber Client for Flow needs to be on port 3000 and the server on 3333
Dale Henrichs
@dalehenrich
@HeSe 8383 is the default port, there's a class -side message where you can override the default presumably in ZnFlowGemServer...
Sebastian Heidbrink
@HeSe
pushed the change since I am unaware of a FlowGemServer... do you have one in your image?
since I am.... I just register the server with port information.
you need to teach me how to keep the version numbers of metacello repositories in sync,... somehow I have a bad feeling about this... talk to you later
Dale Henrichs
@dalehenrich
You wrote the code that reference ZnFlowGemServer, so I assumed that you had not included that class when you saved your changes ... I'm just getting ready to head into the office, perhaps we should skype at 10:30 and I can teach you a thing or two:)
Sebastian Heidbrink
@HeSe
that would be great!
Dale Henrichs
@dalehenrich
Okay I'm just about ready ... coffee and set up laptop in conf room and we can talk ...
Dale Henrichs
@dalehenrich
@HeSe ready when you are...
