@Haroenv
You can set the value to "" of the search input, or reset it as well
buddyspence
@buddyspence
thank you for your quick response: i havbe tested this: $("#button-reset").click(function(){
$('#search').reset();
    });
and this too: $("#button-reset").click(function(){
$('#search').val('');
    });
but none of these worked. Am i doing it wrong?
Haroen Viaene
@Haroenv
Can you put up an example on codepen where you see the problem?
buddyspence
@buddyspence
i have never used codepen, i am not very experienced with things like this.
the input is not in a form, the input field never gets submitted i use it just as a filter
Haroen Viaene
@Haroenv
I'll try to give you an example
buddyspence
@buddyspence
oh thank you that would be wonderfull
Haroen Viaene
@Haroenv
(I used vanilla, but you can do the same with jQuery)
@buddyspence
buddyspence
@buddyspence
ok i test it, thank you
Haroen Viaene
@Haroenv
With pleasure
buddyspence
@buddyspence
ok this, sets back the value of the input-field. i think i could achive this with $('#selector').val(''); too. But it dont sets back the holmes filter. My list is still filtered after setting back the input value. Do you understand what i mean?
Haroen Viaene
@Haroenv
You will have to dispatch the input event yourself. I updated my pen to do that!
buddyspence
@buddyspence
nice job, you saved my day, and mayby my job too. I am not so good with javascript and this is the first project wich make much use of it. No i try to edit your code and add it to the project. Many Thanks again
Haroen Viaene
@Haroenv
You're welcome
buddyspence
@buddyspence
ok one last thing, and if your busy feel free to ignore my question. This solution worked for me, but i am intersted if you can do the dispatchEvent thing in jquery too
Haroen Viaene
@Haroenv
You can do it in jQuery as well
But it would not execute Holmes' native event, so personally I'd use what I've written
buddyspence
@buddyspence
ok perfect
Haroen Viaene
@Haroenv
hey @buddyspence in case you still want this, Holmes now has a native .clear() method
doing var h = new holmes(options) and then h.clear() will be what you want

@mattjhnprc_twitter
has anyone managed to get holmes working with Knockout, thanks?
Haroen Viaene
@Haroenv
I haven't used knockout yet. What are the errors you're getting?
Lucas Bonomi
@LukyVj
@mattjhnprc_twitter
Matthew Price
@mattjhnprc_twitter
@LukyVj no errors search just has no affect. if I point holmes at non knockout content on the page it works as expected
Haroen Viaene
@Haroenv
can you show where you're having trouble in a codepen for example
It could be that you'll need to wait to enable holmes until after the knockout content has loaded, and then in that callback you can do holmes({instant:true,...});
@mattjhnprc_twitter
Matthew Price
@mattjhnprc_twitter
I'll see what I can do about setting an example. I did try after knockout content had loaded but not with instant true
worked with instant:true after knockout has loaded, thanks
Haroen Viaene
@Haroenv
with pleasure!
buddyspence
@buddyspence
thank you it works perfect
Haroen Viaene
@Haroenv
super!
buddyspence
@buddyspence
Hello again,
is there a way to make holmes work with the input of a virtual onscreen keyboard?
Lucas Bonomi
@LukyVj
@Haroenv
Haroen Viaene
@Haroenv
It should work as normal @buddyspence
Can you give me a place to recreate your problem?
Lucas Bonomi
@LukyVj
buddyspence
@buddyspence
i tried several virtual keyboard, asome work some not. I dont understand whats the difference between them.
Haroen Viaene
@Haroenv
Which keyboards don't work?
buddyspence
@buddyspence
i tried several virtual keyboards for my project, thets all browser extensions, for example virtual keyboard for chromium webbrowser or Browser Keyboard 0.10.1 for firefox. i want something that is similar to the standard android keyboard.
Haroen Viaene
@Haroenv
I'll check those out. Maybe they don't send an input event. On what Operating System is that? And which users use those keyboards rather than the OS built in ones :) just trying to recreate what you have a problem with
buddyspence
@buddyspence
I builded a web based indoor navigation system that runs in kiosk modus and for the kiosk i need a software keyboard, I use Xubuntu as OS.
Haroen Viaene
@Haroenv
Can you try changing in the code of Holmes addeventlistener 'input' to keyup
Maybe that changes things
