@Ian-Stewart-Binks
@Anirudh94 Is there a tutorial on how to best do server side?
Anirudh Mukundan
@Anirudh94
@Ian-Stewart-Binks ah yes I see now makes sense thanks
@Ian-Stewart-Binks I haven't really finished learning the client side version myself xD, but I did read this briefly http://blog.yld.io/2015/06/10/getting-started-with-react-and-node-js/
so basically just require the node modules and then jsx.install()
but ill let u know if i find a better tutorial
Anirudh Mukundan
@Anirudh94
hey guys, quick tip: use nodemon to run your app, it automatically fetches changes from ur html files for you
installation: npm install -g nodemon and then nodemon index.js
Ian Stewart-Binks
@Ian-Stewart-Binks
@Anirudh94 Agreed, I've been using nodemon for a while now. You can also use it for any server out there, be it python, haskell, anything. Nodejs is super lightweight, so it just restarts the process.

@Anirudh94 Grunt and Gulp are pretty cool too. With Grunt/Gulp watch you can watch a directory and fire off a shell command if anything in that directory changes. For example, if you're developing local code and need to rsync it up (or scp or whatever) you can just make a grunt task that does that automatically.
@Anirudh94 It looks like OpenShift wasn't updated with the most recent changes. The React branch worked for me - does it work for you?
Ian Stewart-Binks
@Ian-Stewart-Binks
Figured it out
Anirudh Mukundan
@Anirudh94
@Ian-Stewart-Binks figured out how to update with openshift?
Ian Stewart-Binks
@Ian-Stewart-Binks
@Anirudh94 Can you add your name to the authors attribute in the package.json file?
Emmett Underhill
@emmettu
hm it might not be worth parsing this sight tbh
Ian Stewart-Binks
@Ian-Stewart-Binks
@emmettu Yeah. It's pretty bad.
Emmett Underhill
@emmettu
I see what you mean
BUT
violations such as cursing, etc. may be called by the official assigned to
judge the match as soon as he and both teams are present at the table.
shit.
Ian Stewart-Binks
@Ian-Stewart-Binks
Good thing we're keeping that rule.
Anirudh Mukundan
@Anirudh94
@Ian-Stewart-Binks ping
Ian Stewart-Binks
@Ian-Stewart-Binks
@Anirudh94 pong. Only got this message now. Strange.
Anirudh Mukundan
@Anirudh94
@Ian-Stewart-Binks i turned on gitter notifications for my browser, doesnt seem to work I guess
thats the only reason I pinged, to check it out :)
Ian Stewart-Binks
@Ian-Stewart-Binks
Ah word.
Anirudh Mukundan
@Anirudh94
for anyone curious, this is a great guide to what should be in package.json http://browsenpm.org/package.json
Ian Stewart-Binks
@Ian-Stewart-Binks
Thanks @Anirudh94 !
Anirudh Mukundan
@Anirudh94
Ok so I can use grunt as task runner and add mocha as the test framework
sound good?
because without tests, I don't see the point of adding CI lol
also possibly use something like JSHint to make sure everything looks nice
Ian Stewart-Binks
@Ian-Stewart-Binks
+1 for jshint. I've been using it for the past couple of days. I'm also good with using grunt - do it up!
@Anirudh94 I wonder how many travis CI instances actually have tests.
Anirudh Mukundan
@Anirudh94
@Ian-Stewart-Binks I was under the impression CI was mainly FOR tests... :P
Anirudh Mukundan
@Anirudh94
tho as it is, there isn't much to test
Anirudh Mukundan
@Anirudh94
@Ian-Stewart-Binks make a travis account and add your repo to testing
I think I can only do it with the fork of mine
Anirudh Mukundan
@Anirudh94
unless I'm being dumb lol
anyways if u can do that I can port over my fork: https://github.com/Anirudh94/Foosball
Ian Stewart-Binks
@Ian-Stewart-Binks
Do you want me to make the travis account?
Anirudh Mukundan
@Anirudh94
@Ian-Stewart-Binks yeah, because only then can we add the repo for travis to test. I don't believe I can do it
Ian Stewart-Binks
@Ian-Stewart-Binks
Oh okay. I'll do it tomorrow.
@Anirudh94 @emmettu We should organize a hack night for some time in March for the foosball website.
Anirudh Mukundan
@Anirudh94
@Ian-Stewart-Binks yeah no point doing it before we push the .yml/grunt/jshint patch
@Ian-Stewart-Binks lol hack night for the foosball
I'm down
we should totally go over the top and make it amazing
Ian Stewart-Binks
@Ian-Stewart-Binks
@Anirudh94 Absolutely. Over the top, but even more useful. We can order food, and anything/everything else. Let me know when you guys are free.
Anirudh Mukundan
@Anirudh94
@/all is it good to have a commit for merge everytime? Would it get too annoying to see in our commit history later on?
Ian Stewart-Binks
@Ian-Stewart-Binks
@Anirudh94 It might. What do you propose?
Anirudh Mukundan
@Anirudh94
@Ian-Stewart-Binks don't actually have a solution for this, was hoping u guys might
