    Hello everyone,

    I'm a 3rd-year Computer Science student and passionate about Open Source. I have good knowledge of Java and JavaFX. Can anyone tell me how to start contributing to Jabref?

    Hello everyone,
    Me and my colleague @gliargovas are 3rd-year Computer Science students and on this semester, during our Applied Software Enginneering Course we have an assignment to contribute to an open source project. We have seen Jabref and we are really intrested in contributing to it. We are willing to devote time and effort to help resolve issues and be part of this project. This is our first time we are contributing to an open source project. We both have a good knwoledge of Java and Object-Oriented Programming in general, and we are also familiar with LaTeX. Thanks in advance.
    Best regards,

    @gdrosos Welcome to JabRef! Check out our contribution guide to set up your workspace correctly. Depending on your time you can take a look at our project list for university projects https://github.com/JabRef/jabref/projects/9 or take a look at our issues in general.

    Hello everyone,
    I am interested to contribute to JabRef as a part of the Adelaide university group. I am wondering if somebody can please provide a link for the code of conducts because I can see contribution guidelines but no link for the code of conduct. Thanks
    Christoph
    @Siedlerchr
    Hi, wer
    Hi, we don't have an official code of conduct. Just be nice to each other. If you have a complaint drop a note at developers@jabref.org

    @Balrajchatha
    all good, I was just checking it as part of github open project documentations. Thank you for the update.

    Since JabRef development and community is mainly supported by JabRef e.V., a registered society by german law, we naturally consider the first law in our constitution as the leading principle in all discussion: the human dignity is untouchable.

    Hello Mentors, I want to ask if there is any word/page limit for the GSoc Proposal?
    Carl Christian Snethlage
    @calixtus
    As long as it's quicker to read the proposal than gsoc lasts, it should be fine. 😉
    But seriously, not to my knowledge.
    I think, keep it simple but precise, describe your vision of your solution and stay close to the guidelines for the proposal. https://summerofcode.withgoogle.com/organizations/5278426606338048/

    hello everyone! I am interested in contributing to the project "Mindmaps for JabRef" for GSoC '21. How can I start ? I have good knowledge about Java.
    Carl Christian Snethlage
    @calixtus
    Hi, thanks for your interest, like we mentioned before, please try to solve a good first issue before before preparing a gsoc proposal to get somewhat familiar with the jabref source. Please make sure you set up your workspace according to our guide to keep code style consistent. Please check our developer docs and also the official contribution guide.
    Last link might be interesting especially for the mindmap project, since it had some of the ideas already implemented, but sadly staled a few years ago.

    Hello Mentors, Can you please tell me what is the minimum number of features that are to be added during GSOC?
    Carl Christian Snethlage
    @calixtus
    There is no feature count you have to reach. The idea of a number of features to add seems somewhat odd to me.
    Instead try to define a proposal, define some goals or target you plan to archive with your changes and we discuss the proposal with you, if it seems realistic or if it's not enough or if it's too much.

    Okay,thank you sir

    @aakarshvats638
    @calixtus Sir, will our proposal be considered if we were not able to submit PRs.......
    or if we are submitting PRs during application review period.
    Carl Christian Snethlage
    @calixtus
    We'd like to see at least one PR being submitted before application review, because we'd like too see that you already have set up the coding environment correctly, that you got at least a little bit familiar with the codebase, know where to find what, learned a bit about our review process, are able to adapt the code style jabref uses and o would say it's also important for you to see, if you can work with our contribution guidelines.
    Just pick one simple 'good first issue' and solve it, those should not last long to solve.

    Respected mentors,

    Please review my first GSoC proposal for the project: Mindmaps for JabRef,

    The link to my proposal is: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1df2qWxYV751-zvmJn9sWH7N4u404V1b_/view?usp=sharing
    Please help me in making this proposal better. Please leave suggestions and your thoughts.

    Christoph
    @Siedlerchr
    @Taijasi-Kaveri Thanks for your interest. I only took a quick look at your proposal and I think you are outlining a more complex way as necessary. JavafX supports the creationg of 2D Shapes already
    maybe you also find another existing one
    Christoph
    @Siedlerchr
    @Taijasi-Kaveri Please submit your proposal to GSOC, otherwise we can't judge your proposal
    Taijasi Kaveri
    @Taijasi-Kaveri
    @Siedlerchr thank you so much sir for your valuable feedback.I will implement it on my project and will submit the proposal on time.
    Taijasi Kaveri
    @Taijasi-Kaveri
    @Siedlerchr sir ,actually in the project description it was mentioned that the project requires skill at Javascript/Typescript/web frameworks.Thats why I thought of implementing the code by using a Javascript library.
