I spent over 2 week on packaging the electron app with supporting for loading our .NET Core based app. Without luck so far.
Jijie Chen
@jijiechen
I deeply looked into source code of electron-edge, it seems there are a few issues on loading the dependencies and it's not easy to debug ( when .net core host initialization fails, the process just goes down with a StackoverFlowException... ). I tried to rebuild electron-edge with fixes, and there were further issues... I am now exhausted about this. So much time was wasted... although I still have willings, but no patience remaining. I'll try another project "Electron.NET" at https://github.com/ElectronNET/Electron.NET which use another mechanism.

@Jaben
Yeah, I started looking at Electron.NET as well. It has it's own quirks, but I think it's a good starting point. Thank you for your diligence, @jijiechen !
FYI, I'd like to use this as a starting point: https://github.com/yoDon/Electron.NET-React-Typescript-MobX
He's solved some of the basic tech challenges of Typescript+React, etc.
But I'm open to ideas.

I've pushed an early version of Papercut.Desktop based on Electron.NET. It works well. Since Electron.NET is using child_process.spawn approach, so the packaged .NET Core should face no troubles on loading. I'll try it later this week.
By the way, the Electron.NET requires node.js 8.x and .NET Core 2. So the runtimes in .net core branch are upgraded accordingly.

Just tried it -- works great. Nice effort, @jijiechen

Hi, I'm trying to find information on where Papercut saves received emails. Google hasn't veen very helpful. Are there any resources that would be helpful?
Jijie Chen
@jijiechen
Hello, what version are you using? Typically, you just right click the message from the list on the left, and select "Open containing foler"
@Jaben I made a simple page to describe nightly builds at https://jijiechen.github.io/Papercut/. In addition, docker images is currently (temporarily) published at https://hub.docker.com/r/jijiechen/papercut/. Therefore, I also updated readme on the netcore branch, take a look!

After complete these, I think we can release a version. How do you think?

Oh, I uploaded too many times... ignore redundant ones..

@Jaben
Damn, I JUST saw this -- not sure why it's not notifying me
@jijiechen Fantastic! Thanks @jijiechen
Checking it out now

@Jaben
FYI @jijiechen -- I'm switching the .NET Core branch to use this Smtp Server: https://github.com/cosullivan/SmtpServer -- so no need to put more time into getting the old code working on the newer sockets, etc.
That will give us time to focus on other things that need attention: e.g. the UI conversion.
Excited to see that SignalR is making an appearance in the app :)
Jijie Chen
@jijiechen
Got it. I'll follow as I can.
Jaben Cargman
@Jaben
I can't get Electron to load. Not entirely sure if I broke it -- or you were in the middle of something. :worried:
If you could take a look when you get a chance, @jijiechen
Jijie Chen
@jijiechen
Oh, I didn’t write instructions in readme on how to run the Election app. Just run
start-electron-app.sh in the Papercut.Desktop directory
I haven’t made a Windows runnable launch script yet
Jaben Cargman
@Jaben
k, thanks
Jijie Chen
@jijiechen
@Jaben I've just added a batch file script for launching the desktop app on Windows. Please try.
In addition, I added a 'Development' section in Readme on the netcore branch, and you can find some brief doc.

hi guys, i've just installed the latest release (5.1.76) and the interface just won't show. the background service is running and successfully receiving & saving emails. the frontend app (Papercut.exe) is also running but the interface is not showing up
upon inspection of the logs i got:
Papercut-xxx.log: 2019-01-17 14:00:06.254 +02:00 [Debug] Publishing AppProcessExchangeEvent { MessageWritePath: null, IP: null, Port: 0 } to Remote
Papercut.Service-xxx.log 2019-01-17 14:00:06.410 +02:00 [Warning] Failed to End Receive on Async Socket ... followed by a java error stack
is this known? is there a quick fix for it or should i report a bug?

I was having a similar issue as well, You really can't run both the service and the UI at the same time because they both try to use the same ports (by default)
If you only have the service running you can see the status of emails via the local website (I believe the default port is 37408) http://localhost:37408
Jaben Cargman
@Jaben
Can you both @adamtoakley_gitlab & @abereczki try the latest release?
@adamtoakley_gitlab Will fix the WebUI port issue.
@jijiechen can we move away from edge and just switch to using SignalR for UI/process communication?
@jijiechen Supporting edge seems to be too complex -- requiring two completely different implementations of the containers, etc.

i just updated to 5.5.1 and every message papercut intercepts is displayed as the example message. has anyone had this issue?

Hi there and a big thank you for making Papercut! FYI, I have registered it with the Scoop (https://scoop.sh/) distribution channel!

Thank you for the excellent product. Would like to know if its possible to configure PaperCut to accept secure mails that are sent with TLS flag
