Bruce Wilkins
@brucewilkins
The second option- if there is a certain event, then for some subsequent events I would want to update the projection
Jeremy D. Miller
@jeremydmiller
Nothing built in, you could write a custom implementation of IProjection to do whatever. Like @oskardudycz said, we don’t do any kind of built in snapshotting yet, but it’s planned.
Bruce Wilkins
@brucewilkins
Thanks, may investigate that if I get some extra time
Would be great to have more customisable snapshops out of the box in v4.0. Will start digging into the source code a bit more and see if there is anything I can contribute
Oskar Dudycz
@oskardudycz
JasperFx/marten#1307 <= in this issue you can find more details about our plans
Feel free to place your input
:)
Bruce Wilkins
@brucewilkins
Will take a look!

@oskardudycz Isnt it a bit dangerous to go around the constructor if you want to do some intialization? I for instance tend to create lists/dictionaries etc in my aggregate/projection constructors so that they are never null.
Oskar Dudycz
@oskardudycz
Yes, I know, I was thinking to make it optional
So if someone would like to keep using aggregation with default constructor or preinitialized data then it can continue
but if someone doesn't want to have public constructor then (s)he can use the new one
What do you think?

@CodingGorilla
I hate to ask [again], any chance of getting #1339 published this week? :smile_cat:
Oskar Dudycz
@oskardudycz
Imho we can, although 3.7.0 would be rather small, but imho as we merged @barryhagan PR #1190 and set of fixes from @mysticmind - I'm fine.
@mysticmind @jeremydmiller @jokokko thoughts?
Babu Annamalai
@mysticmind
@oskardudycz I am fine, will do the release tomo
Oskar Dudycz
@oskardudycz
:+1:
I can also do that if you'd like
Oskar Dudycz
@oskardudycz
@mysticmind here's the PR with version change: JasperFx/marten#1340
If you approve I can also do the rest
Babu Annamalai
@mysticmind
@oskardudycz I reviewed the PR, added a comment, please check
Oskar Dudycz
@oskardudycz
thank you, I fixed it already :+1:
Babu Annamalai
@mysticmind
cool :thumbsup:
Oskar Dudycz
@oskardudycz
Ok, it's released, I'll update release notes and publish docs later today
Babu Annamalai
@mysticmind
Thanks @oskardudycz!

I am currently working on a fun exercise to migrate SQL Server db to Marten for a project. This will help me learn more on the challenges around migration, will also help to understand the functionality required for data migration tool
Oskar Dudycz
@oskardudycz
Wow, nice :)
many users are asking about that
so if we could provide some guidance or tool
that would be nice for making not only data but also users migration to Marten ;)
Babu Annamalai
@mysticmind
I have already gathered a lot of ideas for the tool and I even have a name for it "Martenify" ;-)
Oskar Dudycz
@oskardudycz
Maybe it would be nice to gather some thoughts and ideas in the issue, like we started for Event Sourcing improvements?
Babu Annamalai
@mysticmind
I shall solidify and add my thoughts
Oskar Dudycz
@oskardudycz
:+1:
I'm working on Workshops about Event Sourcing that I'll be making in Poland, for that I'm preparing the self learning excercises on my sample repo oskardudycz/EventSourcing.NetCore#18
Babu Annamalai
@mysticmind
Awesome, I am following your tweets as well on the workshops (by translating it)
Oskar Dudycz
@oskardudycz
It's starting from creating own store to show how it works and then going to Marten
That's already there (a bit messy yet)
I'll start today on full fledged app with CQRS, Marten
Yes, for now I'm making it in Poland, although workshop and samples will be already in english
but I have plan to also create some course or webinars also in english
Depending on the peoples interests in that
Babu Annamalai
@mysticmind
got you
I think it is essential to create a great amount of knowledge base, it will drive adoption of Marten
Oskar Dudycz
@oskardudycz
I'm thinking about paid course also but I'm not sure if .NET people will be interested enough with Event Sourcing. But for sure those samples and materials that are on this repo will stay free forever, and I'd like to continue adding some work there
Yes, exactly
I think that this should help to spread the Marten usage
that's also one of my main goals behind that :)
Babu Annamalai
@mysticmind
Give it a shot on the paid course, if people feel the content worth will definitely pay for it
